Unauthorized Chemical Peel

Not exactly on topic, I realize, but - what a beautiful mouth you have!

Good luck with the shedding!

I get a chemical peel about once a year. Your skin looks just like mine after I’ve had it done. Please don’t worry; just don’t pick at it or peel it; let it flake off on its own when it’s ready. Also, don’t try to cover it up with any makeup; it’s got to stay clean.

I can’t believe she did that without your consent. I always plan to give myself about 10 -14 days of downtime after a peel. On the bright side, your skin will be amazing, I promise!

A chemical peel *after* dermaplaning is ridiculous. One or the other, never both at the same time. Be sure to keep the skin well moisturized and drink plenty of water. I believe that the brown patches will peel in time.

I believe that chemical peels are not as effective as a daily tretinoin application and exfoliation. The skin is more likely to react poorly to strong chemicals. I'm sorry this happened to you. In the future make sure you explain to the esthetician exactly what you expect.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It was totally, totally unethical and I'd be irate to if it happened to me.

Sending you hugs and healing wishes.

Was it okay at the wedding? How does it look now?

Oh gosh that’s terrible right before a wedding. I had one but I just had flaking, not big burns on my skin.

The brown skin was largely flaked off by Saturday though I still looked scary at the rehearsal dinner. I still had regular skin flaking off on Saturday. I covered as best as I could. The lighting was low, thankfully. My chin was red when it flaked off and now it seems there's more flaking occurring. No idea how this works! I'm just anxiously waiting to see if any hyperpigmentation sets in and my chin seems to have a rougher texture.

You are absolutely correct. I didn't even think of it because when I booked this procedure at different places in the past, this never occurred. Now I learned to ask and ask more to understand intentions.

How are you doing? I was just looking through the pics I took for followup after I did an intense (dermatologist supervised) peel in October. It still looked a bit red and flaky around 6 days but by 8ish days my skin looked nice and smooth. It did peel again (slightly) which can happen with deeper peels, so I had another rough patch a few days later and then was fully recovered. So hopefully you'll have a good idea of where things stand by day 10. Hope you are keeping up a good sunscreen regimen. Highly recommend the colorescience sunscreens. I reapply midday and then if it's still hot and sunny for my drive home I use the mineral brush on sunblock to top off my protection.

I"m doing ok. Thank you for sharing your experience - especially since that is what is happening now. I thought the peeling was done but I"m having some more minor flaking in different spots. My chin still feels pretty rough and not sure if it will end up a slightly different color. I did order a Colorscience sunscreen. I used to use their mineral brush years ago. What a great idea to keep one handy for top off. I'll order it again. Ive been diligent with hats. Yesterday, I forgot it on a small errand. The sun touched my face ( I was wearing heavy sunscreen) for less than a minute and I felt a mild burn after. Sheesh!

Hard to fully tell but my chin is a bit of different texture. F24FC2C4-F1DF-44CA-B6F5-EED060E35651.jpeg

Shew! What a relief - you are beautiful again!! No one would honestly notice your chin but I know you are aiming for what it was before this treatment. I am sure you will get there; you look great already!
