Unpopular or uncommon setting styles/ideas that you really like?

I was just thinking about this today - I have a friend who is on the lookout for a square/rectangular shaped stone, and we were discussing setting ideas. I suggested a kite setting if she ends up with a square stone, because I just love that look, and she had never heard of it.

So out of curiosity, and to give suggestions to any people out there looking to set their stones, what are some less-known or considered setting styles that you personally really like?

Attaching a picture from the internet of the kind of setting I really like for picture inspiration:

Not sure if they count, however, I bezel set all my centre stones except for one CS as it is very small, nearly always have plain shanks without any stones, and for the stones to be set as low as possible.

DK :))

Your style comes across as very minimalist and easy to wear! Bezels are reasonably popular I would say, but also polarising, so I think it counts :)

ooh this is gorgeous. I like how the shank sort of curls up below the shoulders, its such a pretty detail!

I really like tension sets. I know they are often considered masculine but I think they are gorgeous and a nice unisex style. Sleek, sexy, and show off the diamond/center stone.

They defintely are sleek and sexy! I do get scared sometimes thinking that the stone will pop right out. But no other setting shows off a stone quite like a tension setting!

I really like illusion settings for diamonds 1ct or under. It's a great vintage look that was popular in the '40s and '50s. Purists hate them, lol. But they are comfortable to wear and they offer great protection to the edges of the diamond, because the setting is a protective ring of metal larger than the diamond.

I love this bar setting, also very comfortable to wear daily.690692

I agree, I love tension settings but don’t think I could pull it off, personally.

That bar setting is actually really cool. I think it would look very edgy in black rodium with a princess cut stone!

I love asymmetric styles, like Mociun or Bario Neal make.
I love this:

I’m a huge asymmetry fan and this is stunning!!

Antiqued and Collet type settings.

I think depending on the stone type this kind of setting can look even better. Like with an older cut stone, just seems to match. I really like the singlestone emerald ring!

Love this shape
But i like wider bands which seem to not be very popular these days
Also, as well as wide bands i like yellow gold settings and without all the added embellishment of diamonds all over the band

Like @dk168 i love bezel settings. I have a bezel set diamond necklace pendant and bezel set small studs. I would like a bezel set emerald cut diamond ring one day.

I'm posting photos of my RHR. I have never seen anybody on PS wearing a similar one. I believe that this kind of setting is not popular anywhere else in the world than in my country (Europe)!! My original engagement ring was very similar and I loved it. When I decided to have my diamond reset in a three stone setting, I immediately started missing the look of this ring, which I totally adore, so, like the good Pricescoper that I am, I started looking for a new diamond to buy and have set in this setting! Sure enough the plan was executed successfully and now I am the proud owner of two beautiful rings that I can enjoy! Funnily enough, this ring attracts more attention than my three stone! 20210102_135356.jpg20210102_135411.jpg

I also like plain settings, I feel like it looks best if one of the two (ering and wb) is plain and the other is pave. But somehow with the kite set I thought the pave was a nice touch :)

HI:

Belcher and buttercup settings.

cheers--Sharon

Love this one!
