So I just really need to get this off my chest before I go punch my landlord in the face! Here is a list of things in my apartment that do not work that I've put orders in for since I moved in 6 months ago and never got fixed-
1. The fridge leaks some sort of liquidy crap...pretty sure it's not supposed to do that.
2. The panel on the front of my sink cupboards fell off because somebody leaned against it, apparently it was superglued on?!
3. I got locked out of my bathroom a couple days ago because it was jammed. I finally forced it open because I really had to pee. SO investigated and he said it looked like the previous owner broke it and tried to fix it themselves or else there were termites because it looked completely hollow under the door frame and when we kicked the door in there was no wood anywhere.
4. The window in the living room does not stay open; sure you can push it up to get air in but the lock on it won't keep it open because it's cracked in half.
5. The air conditioner only turns on once it gets unbearably hot.
6. Fan in the bathroom does not work.
7. Hole in the screen of the window in the living room.
8. Blinds in bedroom are broken.
9. Fan in the bathroom does not work.
OK now that that's off my chest...onto the vent lol
First off, in tiny print on my lease it says you have to give 2 months notice for checking out. SO says that is ridiculous because they should just assume if you have not contacted them by that time about renewing the lease, they should just assume you are moving out. So I told them like 2 and a half weeks late when I finally figured out I was supposed to notify them, which is still plenty of time to show the apt. They tried to charge me 300 dollars plus an extra month of rent for it!!! WTF! So my dad said to tell them I'll be moving at the end of November instead so I don't get charged the extra money. So my dad will be checking out for me at the end of November and what have you, ugh.
OK so now they have their ridiculous 2 month notice they are showing the apartment. They call yesterday night to tell me they'll be showing it at 10am (my day to SLEEP IN) so I take my cat (no we're not supposed to have cats, the only rule I've broken, but everyone else does, one guy even has a frigging dog!) OK so I take my cat pepper and go hide in the garage for 40 minutes because I do not have a car or anywhere to go and SO is at work. I finally call to see how long its going to take and they say "oh we canceled that appointment, whatshername left you a message". I checked my messages and had none!!! So I take pepper upstairs, unpack his litter box and toys, give him some food and water, etc. and they call me 5 minutes later- "Uh yeah we just had a walk in so we'll be there in 5 minutes"
I informed them that 5 minutes is simply not enough time and they will have to make it 15 minutes (mostly so I can get all of the pep's stuff hidden again and get us out to the garage) but still what if i had been in the shower or something?!
And on top of all of this, they came by the do maintenance the other day and that night after they left, the laundry room on my floor flooded and the water ran down all the walls all the way down to the 1st floor. So we all tried to call the EMERGENCY phone number and it's DISCONNECTED!!!!! What is THAT!
Oh and there's no security, the front door locks on the building haven't worked for like 2 months and the other day somebody ran into my garage and dented the door (hope i don't get charged for that but i'm sure i will).
UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH
thanks for letting me vent
