Gosh, I just logged on and saw all the responses to my previous post regarding my grandson here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/prayers-and-good-thoughts-for-my-little-grandbaby-please.84740/
THANK YOU all for your prayers and good thoughts! My little grandson was finally discharged from the hospital last week. The doctors still have no answers as to what made him sick. Basically they are telling us that some people are more suseptible to seizures, and that sometimes in children, a fever will lower one''s threshold for seizures. Lukah''s seizure lasted for 84 minutes
During this time he went into full cardiac arrest 4 times. The doctors had to administer massive doses of anti-seizure meds to get him to stop seizing, and used the paddles on him 4 times to get his heart going again.
They ran all kinds of tests and could not find any abnormalities, other than an EEG that showed some damage to the left side of the brain as a result of the seizure. The doctors are hopeful that this damage is not permanent, but it will take some time for him to recover. He is a little slower physically, and favors his right side now over his left, where prior to the seizure he was left hand dominant. He was just about ready to start crawling, and now he is not showing as much interest. He will be following up with a neurologist and physical therapist next week, so hopefully he will start regaining some of what he lost physically.
My son was able to get emergency leave from the Marine Corps, so he has been home with his family but he will have to go back to Texas next week to finish his training. My poor DIL is really nervous about being alone, so they flew up here today and my DIL and grandson will stay here with family until July when my son is done with training.
Again, thank you all! I was very touched to see so many responses! I guess we all hate to see others suffering, especially when it comes to babies and children!
