Upgraded - 1.23, F, SI1!

The diamond bug has bit me! Well, it has been biting me for awhile but I have been trying to resist the urge to upgrade! Since discovering PS, I have learned so much about diamonds and how important cut is! The cut of my dear .81, D, SI1 diamond bugged me (even though it was not that bad). To celebrate our 6th anniversary together and new jobs for the both of us (at the same company!), we (I mean HE) took the plunge and upgraded! I'm so happy! And I bought him a 37" LCD HD TV.

I have to part with my ring for 4 days though! They are making some minor adjustments to my setting. Just 2 more days until I'll get my baby back and onto my finger! I cannot wait!!!

I didn't have a camera when I went to look at the stone, so no pictures yet. But when I get my ring on Wednesday I'll be sure to post a ton of pics!

Upgrading is such a sickness! I wanted to upgrade before I get married....and THIS will be my FINAL diamond! I honestly am satisfied with this diamond. I don't want my fianc� to spend more money on my engagement ring. And the 1.23 on my size 3.5 finger looks HUGE. I hope it stays that way! IF the diamond bug bites me again later down the road....I'm going to try my best to be happy with what I have and remember I'm so lucky to have this diamond. I really never thought I'd get such a large/nice diamond and am so thankful!

On to the diamond! I love it. It sparkles like crazy and looks so much bigger than my .81. I was a little hesitant to upgrade my diamond since it is the one my fianc� proposed with. However, when I saw the 1.23 I feel in love with it and it was almost easy to give up my .81. The SI1 is eye-clean. Under magnification, I can see the inclusions, which are a cloud and feather. The feather will be slightly covered by a prong since it is near the edge of the diamond and the cloud just looks like a smudge on the table. I actually like being able to see the inclusions under magnification so I can tell it's mine.

Thanks Mara! Actually the upgrade and TV were EARLY anniversary gifts. Our anniversary is on May 30th.

By the way...your upgrade looks awesome! I LOVE it! All of the pictures you posted are fabulous. Hopefully that will tide you over for another 5 years too.

I seem to remember someone saying that she won''t be able to wear a 1-2 carat ring because the 81 pointer is plenty big

DSS sucks!

I remember when we bought the .81 and I honestly thought it was huge and a 1 carat was too big! And now I think a 1.23 is huge.

Funny thing, I was talking to my fiancé last night about my upgrade and I asked "Do you think the 1.23 is too big?" he responded with "Yes, but in a year it won''t be! It''ll look small." Haha. At least he gets DSS too. But I seriously don''t want to upgrade again! I really do hope I can stay content with this 1.23

Funny thing.....when I recently upgraded my centre stone, we also got a 32" LCD TV for my husband......now here''s the really funny thing.....two months into it and I''m already suffering shrinkage....and so is he. Now he wishes he''d bought the 42".....and I wish I''d got a bigger stone! Go figure.

togal, doesn''t shrinkage suck!? Haha. We were contemplating what size to get as well...37, 42, or 52?? I don''t want a really huge TV so I wanted more around 42 but when I saw the 37 it looked big enough. But probably because I was going from a 20something inch. Ekk! I hope we don''t get Television Screen Shrinkage Syndrome (TSSS

)! The good thing is that we bought it at Costco so we could always upgrade later IF we really wanted to or found a better deal there.

Actually Mara, I think it is a good thing we don''t suffer from SS ourselves. Otherwise we will be stuffing our faces with ice cream and donuts and end up with thunder thighs

When I first saw my ring...it looked beautiful!

I looked at the diamond with a loupe to try to find the feather and cloud, which I was able to see fairly easily unset. I couldn''t find both! After steam cleaning it and having two of the jewelers look at it to try to find the feather, we were able to spot it...barely! It’s nicely covered up by a prong. I didn''t think the prong would fully cover it but I guess I was wrong!

This SI1 is soo clean! I can hardly see any inclusions with a loupe when it''s set! I never want to give this baby up!
