Well I have to respond to this post since today is my actual 20th anniversary.

Original .75 uncert. rb. yellow gold. (I wonder what it whould be if cert?)
4th child present was a 2 ct rb. large table, shallow crown. (it is going out to be recut next week with GOG for a "facelift") for my next project.
15th was anniv band
20th anniv. 5 ct radiant

Don''t think i''''ll upgrade, but i do have other projects on the back burner which would mean additional purchases. None were traded in for the new purchase. I used to like to wait for an occasion to justify the spending, but DH loves to spoil me and I think he now realizes he created a monster.

When he sees me on PS he shakes his head and says, "Oh no, shopping for more diamonds. You are scaring me!"

I tell him to look at it like window shopping. I enjoy looking and searching, but at the end of the day I sign off and it didn''t cost any money

Ditto from me, Eva! Happy Anniversary! Thanks for sharing your upgrade story. I think it's way cool that you didn't have to tade in anything. It does sound like you've got a real "gem" for a hubby, too.

jayrenay...no i don''t have any of the diamonds..the original one i sold back to the jeweler at a bit of a loss; and then took the money to WF to see what i could buy (dropped color and clarity to keep size as is)...and with them i have had upgrade policy each time. i was a little sad to see my last 1.6 J go as that had been my fave so far but whaddya know, the 2.32 became my favorite after a few hours.

My original set is 1.00ctw, yellow gold, with the center being .50ct and then tapered prong set baguettes around with the larger ones at N & S....round brillants down the band. The cernter stone is higher. The band is plain and fits to the e-ring.

I later got a 1ct. center stone and a ring guard for it. I still have the first one and wear it as a right hand ring at times.

I also have a white gold set. I had a 1 ct. champagne diamond set in a tiffany mounting with a .50ct ring gaurd. I wanted something to wear when I wore white gold jewelry. I recently upgraded it and started a thread about it with the pics of before and after.

So I have a yellow set and a white set and I can still wear my orginal set. I still love the first set...very much...the style. Guess maybe you could call it a ballarina style.

Does anyone else have sets in both metals?????
