I have 0.80 ctw diamond studs from BGD right now. They are 0.40 K VS2 diamonds. I have $1,132 in trade in value on those plus another $3,500 to spend.

It looks like I can get 1.25 ctw studs in H-I/VS-SI clarity for that. Which pair would you pick if you were me?

Another option is to keep the 0.80 set and just spend $3700 on these and have two pairs. But I'm not sure the size difference would be enough between 0.80 and 1.00 ctw to justify having both pairs.

I don't think there would be enough of a size difference to have a .80 set and a 1.00 size. Is there any way you can keep your .80 pair and buy the 1.25? That way you'd have two size options depending upon whether you want to dress up or be more casual. The larger pair will really stand out, so it may be nice to have a smaller pair for certain circumstances.

Right now I have a pair of .50 ctw and am going to buy a larger pair this year and I'm like that I'll have two size options. I find the smaller pair are actually practical - I can sleep in them - no discomfort and I can wear them everywhere.

A set that is 1.25 ctw isn't going to be too big to wear at anytime, so I would trade the old ones in. A pair in the .60 each range would be a nice upgrade. I am not sure about going from .40 to .54, though. Although the higher color would be nice. Oh, and I would not mix too colors unless it was maybe D and E! I think that would end up bugging me.
