Urgent help needed today!

So I am getting on a plane tomorrow and have two stones on hold - I need to make a decision today. As some of you might remember from my previous posts, I love the WF butterflies setting but have been having trouble finding the right stone at WF. I have found stones at JA that I love, but I don't love their settings. So I am considering having JA do a custom setting or having WF make the setting and sending it to JA. All of that said, my life would be SO much easier if I could just find the right WF stone so I could use them for the whole thing

the question is this: Do you definitely prefer the JA stone, and if so, do you think it is sufficiently better so as to be worth the headache?

I'm sure others are going to have a different opinion on this, but I would get the WF stone since it's AGS 000 vs JA stone which has only VG on symmetry. In terms of resale value, I would think normal buyers would also prefer AGS 000.

Also, if you're getting the setting from WF, it makes more sense to have JA send the diamond to WF so WF can mount it. From what I've read, usually the provider of the setting mounts the loose diamonds, not the other way around. As much as I love JA, I don't have an extreme amount of faith in their custom work so if you like the WF setting, you should get it from WF.

Ditto. The WF stone looks good to me. I think if you can buy the stone and setting from the same vendor, that's the best way to go.

Ditto - what's the issue with the WF stone? I like it better than the JA - proportions are more to my tastes (high crown/small table), inclusions are under the crown facets instead of spanning the table, and I don't see any flags on the report or in the pics.

It's rare for different benches to create pieces that look and feel the same - small variations in the way the details are put together can sometimes create very different overall looks! If you like the WF setting then have them make it, no reason to risk another bench not capturing the aesthetic you want.

The WF stone looks a lot cleaner than the JA one. Normally I root for JA, but since you're getting the setting WF and you've made it clear that you want to be able to get the stone from the same place, go for it! The WF stone is gorgeous!!! And it will look stunning in that setting!

I absolutely would prefer the WF stone over one with only vg for symmetry. Since they are the same color and clarity, I see the WF stone as superior. You'd better put it on hold, though, because it may get taken!

It's so much easier to use the same vendor, and like the others have said the WF stone is beautiful. I haven't seen JA's custom work, and as Yssie mentioned it's very difficult for a different bench to capture the aesthetic, and they legally can't replicate it exactly, only an interpretation, so it's likely that the overall design that you love will be lost in translation. Another thing to consider is that benches normally will not insure the stone during setting, so if something happens and the stone chips or cracks ( and it's not unheard of), you are out of luck. Most insurance companies don't even cover the stone during setting. JM is the only one that I'm aware of that will. I was strongly consider using the same vendor for both stone and setting.
