I am not an expert but I believe the people here will ask you for Aset images and images of the diamond in order to be more helpful. Where are you buying it from? online?

I see it on Blue Nile.

If you can't get a picture for it, I would pass.

Hi guys, thanks for your response so quickly!

Basically, my jeweller here in Sydney said he may have found the diamond for me and gave me the specs and the size. Based on that, I found the diamond on Blue Nile - I think it's exactly that.

I haven't asked my jeweller what it looks like but he thinks it's eye clean. He said he's got it on hold for 24hours and I need to pay soon if I want to secure the diamond.

I am not sure that's why I'm asking.

No need to feel pushed by this jeweler. I dislike people who push you to make quick decisions without knowing where you stand. This is a big purchase! Exercise your rights as a purchaser and demand a few more inquiries be made.

If the jeweler doesn't purchase it for you, then it may end up back on Blue Nile's inventory list anyway and you can pick it up yourself. In any event, sight unseen I would be very wary. It's hard enough when you have an image, let alone when you don't. :)
The other thing I have to tell you is that the Blue Nile international returns process is cumbersome and a little freaky, so don't put yourself through that if you don't have to.

Good luck!!

Ok, great! Thanks for your advice! I just called Blue Nile and they say they can send me some pics so I'm going to see if I can get my hands on them!

I would imagine the return to be bothersome!! Especially when it is international!

Wish I lived in America :(

Good luck

RE Clarity: The grade setting inclusions are clouds, with the crystals secondary in importance. This may lend weight to the likelihood of an eye-clean appearance, but in any SI where clouds are the grade-setters I'd want to make sure they don't interfere with optics.

Is this based on conjecture, or has he seen the diamond (or spoken to a gemologist who has it in-hand)? If he's analyzing it in person or with help on the other end, you may wish to ask specifically about the inclusions as it relates to transparency and performance.

RE Cut Parameters: It's a classic 60-60 configuration - with potential to be AGS 0 in performance as well as GIA EX, depending on some specifics. One of those is the lower halves. If the average is between 73-75% rather than 75-77% (the 75 listed is both averaged and rounded) it could create a higher level of obstruction/darkness in some conditions than AGS allows for 0. Maybe not a deal-breaker, but something to inquire-about. While I doubt you'll get it, an ASET or Ideal-Scope image would be helpful in terms of basic performance analysis.

The jeweller said the gemologist has confirmed the stone to be eye clean and very sparkly. I tried to request an Idealscope pic... still waiting.

I don't quite understand what you mean by the lower halves being 73-75%? Can you please explain? Thanks!
