Ok guys, my father bought this diamond a little over a decade ago and had it officially appraised by the GIA Gem Trade Lab. The original report states the following:

Shape and Cutting Style: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.62 - 6.69 x 3.83 MM
Weight: 1.01 Carats

Proportions
Depth: 57.6%
Table: 63%
Girdle: Medium to Thick, Faceted
Cutlet: None

Finish
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good

Clarity Grade: VVS1

Color Grade: D

Fluorescence: None

I''m getting everything from 9,000- 12000. I know the basics and this diamond should be around 13-14K. To those knowledgeable ones, please share your insights.

The cut is no good, which is why the devaluation. Also, who price it and in relation to what, for what purpose?

Hi TheMarine and welcome!

Unfortunately the cut isn't good, the stone is shallow depthed and is facing up large for its weight, but this isn't a good thing regrettably.

When you say you want help with an assessment, do you plan to sell this diamond? If you plan to sell it, then unfortunately it is usual to only expect to get around 30 - 50% of what you originally paid for the diamond....If you do a search online, similar stones are selling for around 12 - 13k with GIA reports so you can get a rough idea of 30 - 50% from that.

Also if selling is your intention then you might find this article written by expert and appraiser Neil Beaty very useful;
