Renee...''C'' is for Cooking???
Or not. hahahha!
Funny thing is fondue is actually quite easy!! For those who have not made it before, we always go to this fab restaurant here called La Fondue, it''s like Melting Pot but even better...they have a few more options and since it''s California, you have a ''grill'' option instead of the boiling fondue thing for the main dish and so you get these yummy garlic butters and a grilling plate and you can choose meats and then they come pre-sliced and cut and you just grill them in the butter and use their sauces for dipping. It''s so good, we hugely prefer it over the boiled meat thing of the typical fondue main dish. Greg called it the California fondue at first...haha.
But so when they bring the cheese and chocolate to the table they always tell you what they are putting in there as they put it in. So I always paid attention and then attempted it at home and it worked out great! So we''ve had it a few times since then if we are desperate for a ''fondue fix''. The only things that I will say is that make sure you don''t add the cheese too fast or else it gets stringy, you have to add it in slowly and keep stirring til it creams in rather than clumps in; and for chocolate be sure to get a fondue appropriate chocolate, because last time we did it the chocolate was not right (I think I used baking chocolate?) and it just would not get that creamy consistency. The first time we did it it came out divine so I am hoping tonite is more like the first time. Also this time we are using some hot cream as well since I noticed that in alot of the recipes.
So even if you are not a huge cook, most of the fondue stuff is just prep and then mixing it all together in a double broiler!
Everyone''s dinners sound SOOOOOOOOOO yummy....for us VDay is just an excuse to have a really good, decadent meal and feel no guilt....
Danielle, the mini lava cakes sound divine!! I vote yes on that one.
Mmmmm pasta seafood Heather? I wish I could have a taste of everyone''s food. Pebbles, your dishes sound more intricate than fondue!!
Happy Valentine''s Day all!
