Value of Ruby engagement ring

I much prefer the color of the ruby in your ring over the ring you were considering buying. The one thing I would like to point out, since you are still in the 30 day return period is the scratch on the gemstone (first picture 7 o' clock) that covers one facet. Was that disclosed when you bought the ruby?

Lisa,
I think that inclusion was originally there and matches up to the vendor's picture. I hope GemstoneNewbie will clarify.

GN,
Try, try and try again is the best advise I can give you. I'm sorry it's of not much help but many of us take multiple pictures in order to capture that one true picture, or at least as closely as we can.

Hello LisaRN- When I spoke with AfricaGems they did say that the stone did have typical inclusions and the stone is eye clean looking at it from arm's length. The image on the site matches up to the picture pretty well.

Chrono- Thanks for the advice! i'll keep taking pictures and posting!

Hmmm I definitely preferred the original darker stone too. New one is basically opaque pink  Not what I would "expect" for a ruby ring personally... Suggest you return and try another one? Setting looks lovely & sparkly.

Hello HotPozzum- Yea the pictures really make the ruby look opaque.I wish I can show it in person hehe it really isn't that opaque. Here are two images that look closer to what it really looks in person. I'll keep taking more pictures.

Hey everyone so I got a hold of an actual camera instead of my cell phone camera. So here are the pictures of the ring and stone as accurate as possible that i could get. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks a lot for all the help and suggestions I really appreciate it!

(I have 17 pictures I figured it might be annoying if posted them all in the thread so i'm going to post one and then link the rest.)

sorry for the image spam....

The ruby looks very red and transparent in a few pictures. If those are accurate, it's gorgeous!

Hello Chrono, Thanks!!! Yeah those pictures are accurate to what I see here in person hehe. My cell phone kept blurring out the ruby and I couldn't get a good close up image of it. So I asked a friend of mine if i can use her camera and it made a big difference and it turned out muchhhhh better.

Photographing red stones is tough. With the new pics the beauty of your ruby shows through. Congrats on creating a unique and beautiful engagement ring!
