Vanadium beryl vs emerald

I'm sure you're just asking @T L not me, but I love the color on that emerald, just not the proportion of the diamonds in that ring.

Most likely @ T L would said too light!:lol-2:

Didn’t someone here pay double or triple the amount per ct on a clean and elongated emeralds while back?

I wonder what you think of THIS one. GIA Cert. and looks clean but maybe the tone is a bit lighter than ideal? 3K-4K/ct including the setting. 18% bp sucks!
The one in my Art Deco setting is that color, but the neon level on that looks enhanced. I can never get the neon on my stone to photograph.

96F3FD0C-30C6-49E4-B672-408AC9C97336.jpeg The color is definitely enhanced In that dealer image although emeralds can definitely be very glowy in the right lighting conditions.

This is the GIA report image.

I couldn't tell much but am surprised that they photographed it with bright white background. I thought of your saying that "want to see the gem with white background..." The GIA IMAGE looks more blueish.

I am not in the market for one but wonder if it's a decent value for others even though it's not AGL certed. It's almost 12mm!

I meant to show it to everyone. I too like the color.

AGL is the best, they can even tell if an emerald has been irradiated, which GIA has missed in the past. I suspect both labs are proficient enough to determine the amount of clarity enhancement though.

The dealer enhanced the image, it looks very neon in their image. Emeralds poorly photograph so I can understand image enhancement in some cases, but I would want more photos before considering it. There’s a substantial window too, which may or may not be distracting. Typically Columbian emeralds have a satiny glow to them that can make a window less distracting, unless it’s a window the size of the Hooker emerald (“open the pod bay door Hal!”). :eek2:

It’s almost impossible to photograph the satiny sheen in an emerald, so most photos of them look like included tourmaline!! Videos do a better job.

I took a picture of this gem at intergem the other day. It looks like a tsavorite or tourmaline. However IRL I saw a velvety glowing ember of the richest most vivid green the human eye can perceive. Mind you it was also under a glass case in a glass topped gem box. It would have been sublime perfection if I could hold it in my hand.

So it's inconclusive...wish someone local could go and check it out for us.

Why didn't you? :lol-2:
It made that Tiffany & Co emerald ring I recently saw (remember that one?) look sick. I think I was too intimidated by it, kind of like a nerdy guy would be with a beautiful girl, lol!

You're too funny! I would think that you would be all over it at the show! :wall:

I've keeping up T&Co long time ago!

Maybe it will be at the next show, and I’ll get more “intimate” with it:P2

Great story! Am I crazy to think that it's a romantic story of emeralds?

Somehow it also reminds me of those 4 big emeralds on the Topkapi Dagger!

Good for you to take this photo ;)

I am no expert and have not paid much attention to emerald cabs. I didn't realize that the cab could glow/sheen like a facted one until seeing pictures of her Cambridge emerald brooch taken from far away!

Oh my what an amazing cab! I wish more high quality gems were cabbed. Seems like cabbing is almost solely reserved for the "junk" that faceters don't want. I've seen some amazing exceptions though, and this is one of them!
