For those of you wearing veils during the ceremony are you going to wear them for the entire reception?

For those of you with long veils (cathedral length) are you going to wear a different veil for the reception or no veil?

I am just trying to figure out what I should do. I found a really pretty interesting veil on ebay but I am trying to decide if I want a elbow length veil as well for the reception or just not wear one at all during the reception.

So what about you guys what are you planning or did you do?

I wore my chapel length veil for both the ceremony and reception.

Pros:
I like the way it looks in the pics

Cons:
It got stepped on a bunch (though no serious damage)
It was really hot

I plan on wearing mine during the ceremony and then just a flower for the reception :)

I had a veil as long as the dress, so no I did not wear at the reception. I walked into the reception in it, greeted just about every guest personally while wearing it, then took it off before going through the buffet. It would have REALLY been in the way.

I wore my veil the whole time! It was custom length so that it almost touched the floor, but not quite. I LOVED my veil and wanted to enjoy it... nobody stepped on it. I had one person hug me and tug on it, but it stayed put. Mine was really thin so it wasn''t hot.

Taking them out can mess up your hair, so be careful if you decide to go that route. You may not be able to get a 2nd one in easily.

I had one that went to my waist and I wore it until after the first dance (so through buffet & cake-cutting). I should have taken it off before that, though, because my FI kept pulling my neck back as he would put his arm around my back and forget the veil was there!!

As my stylist says: there are HAIR girls and there are VEIL girls. I was a hair girl. I wore my chapel length veil for the ceremony and for some pictures, then removed it for the reception. I wore a 1920s brooch in my hair that I loved and considered that my real hairpiece. I orginally planned to wear the chapel length for the ceremony (it was a seaside wedding and I wanted those wind-in-the-veil pictures!) and switch to a birdcage for the reception, but decided against the birdcage after the trial.

sumbride that is a good point about possibly messing up the hair.

HollyS: that is what I am thinking of doing as well

I don't know if I want to spend the money on a second veil. So I should probably ditch that Idea. I am also guessing that a cathedral length veil would get in the way the entire night if I decided to wear it through out the night.

So here is another question, I don't feel like starting a new thread for all my veil questions...

Did you get or are you going to get a 74" wide or 108" wide veil. I am trying to figure out which one. I want the veil to be sheer as possible but I also want it to look full in the back. Does anyone have pictures of cathedral length veils that are 74" wide or 108" wide?

Thanks again girls!

i wore my cathedral length veil during the ceremony and not during my reception. i was careful, but there were no problems taking it out. hair was fine.

When I went shopping for dresses, the woman told me you can get your cathedral length veil ''bustled'' for the reception - not sure how but could be a good idea!

A friend of mine had a cathedral length veil with a blusher, then took off the longer part when her dress was bussled and just wore the elbo-length blusher which was less formal and very cute. I wouldn''t suggest wearing a cathedral length veil at the reception, everybody would step on it. My chapel length dragged on the floor and a cathedral must be another foot or two?

My veil was 74" wide, I didn''t want much poof. It was only one layer.

MelissaSue bustled her veil and wore it through the night. Here''s her wedding pictures thread! On how to do it... My best bet would be asking a seamstress.

I''m planning on wearing a fingertip veil and I''m definitely a veil girl, so I''d love to keep it for the reception.

I don''t know how I missed these pictures! Gorgeous!

My veil was almost identical: same length and style, without beading which might have competed with my dress. I love this look!
