My fiance went dress shopping with me. Of course, I tried on two dresses and that was it...but maybe you can try taking him along instead. I don''t have any close female friends here *in* Ohio (I''m from here originally) and didn''t the last year I spent in Korea either...but in NJ I had one. So I feel your pain. It was pretty much just me and my fiance planning everything since my sister wasn''t really interested/helpful and my other bridesmaid was in NJ while I was planning from Korea. You could just be glad that you have the chance to *go* to all the dress shops and try different things. I was in Korea for a year leading up to my wedding, so I''d been engaged for two weeks before leaving and bought a dress on an impulse the weekend after getting engaged.

I agree it makes sense to bring FI. I did bring him along on one trip, and we just have completely different taste, I liked the ones he liked but didn''t love anything. Maybe it was because we went to RK Bridal and it was pure dress OVERLOAD in there.

Also, it''s stupid but I don''t want him to see the dress before the wedding!! It''s dumb because we are doing pictures before the ceremony to save time and so we can go to some cool locations, but I''d really like if he doesn''t see me in the dress before that day.

Thanks for all the great advice, I''m off to the Brides Against Breast Cancer sale! Wish me luck! If I find anything, I''ll report back

Good Luck!

hi Kara,

I know we''ve beaten this topic silly, but another way to look at it:

If you''re indecisive like me-- The few times I actually went with someone (my mom actually) was the time I let someone else rationalize myself into buying the wrong dress. Now that I go alone I can be sure that when I''m sure, it''s actually me that''s sure and not someone else. :)

Karasue:

I was so glad to see that you found the prefect dress this morning! I love it, and can''t wait to see it after that zipper is repaired and it''s been fitted to you!

I''m responding on this thread because I was thinking about you and your friend who said "no" when you asked her to go shopping with you. I know you''ve done a turn-around on your feelings about that... I hope you''ll let her know about that as well. It sounds like you two have been there for each other a few times and, even if she''s not as close as some of your long-time friends, there''s some real frienship potential there. I''d also suspect that she heard the *disappointment* in your voice when you asked her to accompany you and she refused.

Just some food for thought.

And BTW, have a great visit with your Mom!

I''ve been in London for 3 years now, and although I have plenty of friends, I don''t really have anyone at ''wedding dress buying'' level - ie super patient and v.v good friend.

My favourite people for clothes shopping are either my little sister who has a great eye, my brother (he has 3 sisters and is therefore good at looking at clothes) or one of my gay men friends. Sister and brother are not nearby so I''m very much shopping alone!

If you have an fashion-orientated gay friend, in my experience they normally can''t wait to go wedding dress, party dress shopping. Sadly mine are all in Italy or I''d have had them dragging me into every bridal shop in London by now!
