Hi all. I'm getting started on the e-ring process. Depiste working 20 mins from the diamond district in NYC, I'm probably going to limit the search to online retailers. I know she wants a princess cut and all she ever hints at is Verragio, but is okay with a non-verragio ring. Here's what she's showed me...

So that's an idea of what she's looking for. As a starting point for me, would anyone like to reccomend a vendor who might be a good fit for rings "like these". I've taken a look at James Allen, but I dont really see anything that looks similiar, maybe I'm missing it.

Thanks!

White Flash carries Verragio rings and they are absoltuly lovely to deal with online. I have done some custom work with them before.

Though it isn't Verragio I think the Stardust Jewelry Line has a few pieces very similar to the Verragio that she might like so you might want to show her.

And just a really quick side note as my friend was looking at Verragio style rings as well. She loved them but hated how the wedding bands paired with them. So you might want to take that into consideration. She was looking at a similar style to your twisted shank ring. Your GF might have no issue with this at all but just something to bring up as food for thought.

Nothing looks like Verragio except Verragio. Whiteflash is who you'll want to go with, they sell Verragio.

I think if Verragio is in your budget and she likes Verragio, then I'd get Verragio and would also suggest Whiteflash. They seem to do a nice finish out on the Verragio rings from what I have seen so far.

If Verragio is out of budget (they are fairly pricey) then I'd second the suggestion for looking at Gabriel and Co rings. I think you can find some similar ideas with that, moreso than the Bev K I have looked at.

Great replies, thanks all. Budget isnt well defined, but I was hoping to go not too far above 5k for the ring+diamond. Up to 6, maybe 7k would be doable, but would like to stay lower if possible. Does that put Verragio out of my budget, considering I want to get atleast a very nice 1ct. diamond?

A very nice 1 ct diamond, you should probably budget 6-7K for. Going to J color and SI2 you could squeeze in around 4500-5000.

Oops! Sorry, saw you are looking at princess. The prices above are for rounds.

Crazy price difference with the Verragio 5003... on WhiteFlash, its $4,150. $2,850 on Since1910. Can anyone reccomend Since1910 if I decide to go this route?

On all my time here on PS I have never heard anything negative about them...that second setting you posted is only $1600
at 1910. I think that is a pretty good price and a lovely setting. Not sure how it will look with a princess though.

edit
This one resembles the first one you posted but isnt quite as expensive $1900...not sure what GF would think...

BTW, do you know if your GF has tried on either of these rings? I highly suggest she does try them on before buying.

Have you ever taken her out ring shopping, just so she see some of these styles in person and try them on? I ask only because those highly detailed Verragio styles might look - and feel - very different in real life than they do in pictures. I know you probably want to keep the element of surprise to some extent, but it might be worth your while to have her try on some rings before you make a final decision.

ETA great minds think alike, tyty333!

She's never tried on ANY e-rings and I totally agree - who knows if sh'ed even like them in person. The surprise factor is everything on this, I cant ask any questions or I'll give it away. Blah!

Totally agree.Y'all should go try some on. There were plenty of rings I loved the look of that looked terrible on me when we were looking for my ring. Verragio was the first style I tried on (and did like the look) but ended up with something else in the end.

Question is... how do you go try on rings when you're trying to make it a surprise? :|

Most engagements are still surprises even if you go ring shopping, she doesn't know when or how you will do it. She already showed you settings she likes and said princess cut, I don't think browsing physical stores is that much of a stretch.

I hear ya.. her bday is coming up middle of July, we'll be on a trip and visiting her family.. the timing is good. She knows I know she wants the ring for bday, but I play it off like its not going to happen... and she believes me, because I've been making her wait forever!

The other more safe option is to put the stone in a simple $200 setting and tell her she can pick her setting after you get back
home. Not as exciting but prevents you from buying an expensive setting that she later figures out isn't comfortable.

Hello again folks. So my gf tried on some rings today and did NOT like verragio, thank god I didnt buy one! What she liked the most was this ring:

But wants a princess stone..

The shop wanted $2500 for the mount; seems high to me. Anyone know of any mounts from good vendors that look like this?

Thanks!

That's spot on. Definitely a contender. I think she's going again tonight to look at some more rings and I'm expecting to hear more good things about the split shank designs. More to come.. Thanks all

Forgive the intrusion here, and thanks for all the positive comments. I see the original poster has decided that Verragio is not the direction he will go, but it's important to point out that the price difference sited above is a comparison of the Verragio style in two different metals. The $4150 price for the Whiteflash listing is platinum. The $2850 price at Since1910 is for 14K white gold.

The 18K white gold version is $3150. Our listings will show the style and the various metals available.

The top designers are very careful to protect their brands by requiring their authorized retailers to maintain price integrity. So customers decide where to purchase the product based upon factors like location, convenience and customer service as opposed to pricing which is uniform. If there is a difference in price, it would be a case of either the seller not being an official distributor, or a retailer who is violating the designer agreements.

Whiteflash is proud to be retail partner with Verragio. We have also recently become distributors for Tacori and also added Mark Schneider. I guess it is no surprise that many of the astute consumers that come here in their quest to find the most beautiful diamonds are also interested in outstanding design and craftsmanship!

My apologies for missing that, Texas Leaguer.

No apology necessary Skinner. I was hoping you would not take that as a slap on the hand!

It was really meant for the benefit of all who may not know about how the designer brands operate. It is quite a bit different from the ways generic product is marketed.
