OMG !!!!!!!!!
It's a question I never would have wondered about !!!!!!!!!!!!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

( with my fattish fingers, it would prob have to be NS )

I like vertical better.

And I am suffering from serious hammer envy. Anvil envy as well, but Fretz hammers are simply divine.

Vertical so that you can rock your finger back and forth for the milk and honey effect.

I know having it set horizontally mimics an eye opening and closing in its layout but having it set vertically allows you to move your hand sideways for better fun effects, not just the eye opening but for the milk and honey effect (plus having a wicked cool snake eye’s slit)

Hmmm.. I like both? * I know, I'm of NO help  *

I would probably shoot for the traditional vertical though.

I like the vertical set better.

VERTICAL!

I like vertical. The stone didnt really attract my eye when it's set in the same line with the shank.

Am I really the only one who voted for horizontal? I like the way the reflection in the stone mimics the reflections in the gold and creates a smooth line instead of perpendicular contrast. Both are beautiful but I'm not a fan of the snake eye look.

I really like the horizontal!

I've seen the vertical cat's eyes before, and I like things that are different. What's the point of custom, if it looks like off-the-rack?

I also like the way it integrates the band into the stone, like bluebird said.

But, in your heart of hearts, you know which one you prefer, don't you VL?

Which one do YOU like?

Vertical, so that it looks like a cat's eye.

But, it really depends on the stone. Phenomenon stones often look more interesting from a particular direction. I have a teardrop Oregon sunstone cab that I wear "upside down" because I prefer watching the schiller from that direction.

Vertical. Two different colors will be more obvious. Beautiful stone.

Horizontal. It reminds me of the earth and equator.
