Hi, everyone I finally decided to post because I am having a hard time deciding what to do. I read the book How to Buy a Diamond and have done hours of research on the internet on what are ideal dimensions for the shape (cushion) of diamond I am buying. What I have found is the guidelines are not as straight forward as rounds but some basics still apply.
I thought I found the perfect diamond (my boyfriend was getting ready to buy it tomorrow) on-line but the Girdle had been mislabeled. On the Jewelers Website the Girdle was listed Medium to Slightly Thick. But when I looked up the GIA certificate it was listed at Slightly Thick to Very Thick (something I had missed when viewing the GIA cert previously).
Here are the specifications for the diamond. What does everyone think . . . . . is it really that big of a deal to have a Very Thick Girdle rating on a cushion cut?
I understand that with a thick Girdle you pay more because of the extra carat weight and it could affect the sparkle (I was assured it wouldn’t by the jeweler).
