Victorian OEC Diamond Lavalier Pendant

7mm is way too big Gypsy! I think it needs to be 4mm, 5mm max, or it will overpower the pendant.

Ooohkay. Local places then. Sorry, tried to help. :geek:

Beautiful, Dreamer. I'm really interested to see what sort of chain you get for it. I have a similar pendant, that I have never worn, because it didn't come with a chain, and I never got around to searching for one. I'll probably get whatever you do, so make it a good one! ;))

ETA: Mine also has the bird poo drop pearl. Seed pearls, I believe they are called. I think it was a common design at the time. I'd keep it, but what do I know!! Mine does not have the other pearls, but does have a buttercup setting, which I think is so pretty!

Enjoying all of your finds, Dreamer.

Dreamer, you are awesome at getting great finds on eBay, I'm jealous! Gorgeous diamond and very cool pendant, although I agree that the hanging pearl needs to replaced with something else.

Here is a very unflattering neck shot for perspective, it is a dainty little thing. Looking now at the pendant again, the pearl does draw attention away from the diamond. But I also think the style of the pendant needs something there. What about a small briolet instead?

I just asked my husband and he said, 'The pearl sort of looks like a blob of bird poop hanging there!" But, without it, "It just looks like a Christmas tree!"

Not sure how much help that is.

Lol. My husband always points out stuff like this too. Usually, after, I can't get his comment out of my head and I fix whatever it was.
Great find. You have given me a good idea for a Mother's day gift and another reason to keep scouring ebay. You should offer your photog services for these stores.

Its funny, but I bought an OEC about a month ago from a very sweet seller with the crappiest photos ever. The stone was not what I needed -- I was, and am still, looking for a pair for earrings -- so I contacted the seller to tell her I was returning the stone. But I also gave her detailed instructions on how to list the diamond again using the hit button key words like "European Cut" and "Old Mine." She had used none of those terms at all. AND e-mailed her all my macro photos of the diamond, which was beautiful, so she could make a good sale! I ended up passing the stone along to another PSer before the return period, but I did try and offer my services

The pendant is gorgeous, what a wonderful present! I didn't go through the whole thread to read all the comments on the dangling pearl, but if it were mine I would remove it because its irregular shape draws your eye away from the gorgeous oec. You have a great eye, love the stones you've found on eBay.

So pretty, Dreamer! I agree with the others who said to replace the pearl with another pearl. It can certainly be a small, round pearl, too. Regardless, I'd just call PP and tell them what you need. I am sure they have things that are not on the site. But a local jeweler could certainly replace it with a small round one.

haha, are we coining a new PS phrase?? :)

Ditto removing the bottom pearl...! That looks really great, I remember seeing it and thinking it had promise. Fantastic buy!

Really pretty , I love it! I 'd probably change the pearl to a round one.
