Vintage 5 stone band

I totally missed this thread! DS, I love your five-stone ring! It's beautiful and looks fantastic on your hand. Like you, I wear mine on my left hand as an e-ring alternate (because, as we have discussed, I too don't like wearing a ring on my right hand). Congratulations on a beautiful find and happy belated birthday!

Thanks starshine, sparkly, and blueiris!!! It was quite a lucky find, I will have to admit! blueiris, it is funny how much we have in common regarding jewelry preferences!

I can't remember if I put this in my first post, but the jeweler is in Chicago and he does list rings on ebay as mydiamondzone. This is the second ring I have bought from him and find the quality to be very nice for the price! I was just lucky to catch this one! He has some pretty antique rings, too.

Totally stunning! Love it.

Thank you so much, Mara!!! :))

What a gorgeous ring!

What a beautiful find! I love the setting, and the size looks perfect on you!

Oh DS, how on earth did I miss this before?! It's beautiful, what a nice find!! And it looks fantastic on you - happy (belated) birthday :appl:

I'm laughing, this is an incredible coincidence!! I LOVE the design - I love it so much, in fact, that I asked WF for a quote based off their stock design only with separate Us holding each stone last week, before I saw this thread! And it'll be with older stones too - I've been collecting OECs - so she'll probably be getting something kinda similar in a few weeks for her birthday!
Great minds...

Thanks so much Charmy and Diamond Dana!

Thank you, Yssie! I posted it in December when people were crazy busy, so I am not surprised you didn't see it. But thanks for liking my little ring!

That is AMAZING that you also love this design!!! In fact, I don't know if I said this earlier in the thread, but I found this ring when I was just looking for 5 stone setting ideas with the goal of having a ring made. I knew I wanted something with a little character and not the same as all the stock settings. I enjoy vintage settings sometimes and wondered how they used to be made. I found this ring by accident and thought it was worth ordering because the price was about what a setting would be from these vendors and there was a good return policy. I figured it was too good to be true. But it wasn't! It was a platinum alloy that I love, the design was great (the slight tapering is just perfect) and different, and the stones happened to be really nice! My dream 5 stone would be to have this remade with AVR's but just a little bigger. And I hesitate when I say that because this size is really perfect for me, but I wouldn't want two rings just alike! But then when I add up the cost, the dream ring would cost about 4-5 times as much as this ring, so it doesn't make it as tempting!!! I CANNOT WAIT to see yours!!! :appl:

Goodness, I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner! And I left out part of my post, too - it's a gift for my mum, I've been planning it for maybe a year now? I've finally collected a set of stones I'm happy with, so it's time to get them set!

Fantastic timing on finding this one - I can just imagine how much pricier it would be to have a new one made! It looks to be in really nice condition, too, and it's even made of the right alloy... that's an interesting question, I wonder how it was made? And if I can ask a couple more Qs - what does the underside of the head look like, could you post a pic? And how easy is it to clean (it looks like you have easy access to the stones, what about in the crevices of the metal?)

AVRs would be gorgeous - but this one looks lovely on you, and I can't help but think the charm of vintage pieces is often largely in the stones themselves, wonky and quirky as they are! You've got a treasure in that little bit of history that you just couldn't *make* today ::)

These are the pics I sent to WF - a bit different from yours, but the same basic idea! (I hope I'm not threadjacking with this...) Your stones look pretty evenly shaped, I'm hoping mine are symmetric enough to do the job without too much finagling..

What an amazing gift for your mom!!! :appl:

I don't know if I can get a shot that close up, but my underside is open making it very easy to clean. The main difference in this one is that there is a full circle shank (which is what it looks like you drew in #2). The U's sit on the shank are not one solid piece like the modern ones. On each side of a diamond there is a U. So under the stone is open. Ugh...hope you can read my mind! I'll see if I can get a picture.

Oh that's brilliant.

It must make keeping it clean SO much easier, and I love the way it looks from the POV in that second photo - with the space underneath so you can see your skin. And the fusion of all of those elements makes it look *vintage* in a way that I've never seen a Uprong manage before!

I just heard from WF that my second picture (with the baskets sitting on the under-bar like in yours) isn't feasible... I'm going to have to ruminate...

Thank you for the pics!!

beautiful ring, looks fantastic on you!

Yssie...not feasible? Hmmm. Maybe they need to see my pictures! ;)) I can't see my skin at all because the stones are actually set fairly low. In fact, that picture surprised me! I can't wait to see you mother's ring! I am afraid it is going to make me want to make another one, though!

FairieMoon...thank you so much!

That is stunning!
Great find!! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:
