We''re having a garden wedding with a reception in a historic bed and breakfast. I''d like to roll with a vintage theme, since I have a good start on the tuxes and my dress and accessories.

I''m working on centerpieces today, and want something non-floral. Initially, I was thinking those tall willow branches, but my venue won''t allow any candles except hurricanes, so they would be pretty bare.

I saw a photo on the knot that inspired an idea. I''d like your opinion. The couple had some kind of painting or something on a holder with some small grass and candle things. I was thinking I could do something like this with old MGM musical covers. This is something unique to me, and I think these covers are definitely colorful and vintagey, and many of the names on them would match my music play list (Frank Sintra, Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly, etc.). The problem is that we weren''t going to assign any seating, so would these signs be random or would they be cool? Paired with a small green plant or a sunken orchid or something?

Here''s an example of a movie poster (I LOVE this movie!) Tell me that''s not the most glamourous thing!

Does anyone have any cool ideas on how to incorporate these?

I LUV that idea...off hand I can''t think of how to present it for display exactly. however I would stick with it and see what you can come up with. I think it''s a fantastic idea. I think it also would give a romantic feel :)

Thanks! I''m glad you think it''s a fun idea! I was thinking more about it last night, and thought they''d look awesome in a frame with a tabletop hook to hang it from. Like a flag holder? Or a standing sign kind of thing. Had a lot of problems finding anything like that though in a size larger than 4x6 and not landscape.

Also, still wondering if it''d look random? It would be a good way to keep centerpiece prices down though. Especially since I''ve decided against fake plants and I can''t have tall candles (still sad about that one!).

Does anyone else have any ideas on how to showcase these? Seems like we''re all working on reception tables this week! :)

I was seeing the clear plexi upright menu thing...You can see it from two sides?

Or do like your pictured...and have it up high on a wire...add two movie tickets.

I like your movie theme idea...but I would like to entertain the idea of using photoshop and placing you and your groom into the posters, or handbills. Look for faces that can easily be done. Breakfast at Tiffany's...can be your face in the poster. Indiana Jones...can be his face. Oh that would be cute!!!!

I have seen this Baby movie poster announcements. Wonder if you can do the similar just you two? You know private screening...(rehearsal dinner)....premiere showing ...(wedding day)...wrap party...(honeymoon location)...Producers...(your parents)....director...(your minister)....attire provided by ....(your dress designers name//Davids Bridal)....extras....(Julianna the flower girl). Transportation provided by (Uptown Limo).

Eureka...if you have enough guts...you can contact them and tell them you will advertise their name in print at your wedding...attended by 30 other young soon to be brides...what kind of deal can you get on a rental??? Sorry...the deal maker is coming out of me.
