I didn''t even hear about it till yesterday after dinner! I just can''t imagine. Those poor families....

I saw this article. I guess the gunman was depressed and people thought he would do something. Wow, how sad. I feel for all the families.

Yesterday I was in shock. Today I am so sad and my heart goes out to everyone affected, especially those who lost loved ones. It feels more real and I am immensely saddened after learning about the innocent victims.

blondie23, I can''t imagine what you and your classmates went through at Columbine.

MissPrudential and indecisive, I''m so sorry you knew someone who died in this tragedy.

It''s all so awful. I was just reading about the 76 year-old Holocaust survivor who sacrificed himself, and and I can''t continue. I was in NY on 9/11, and was glued to the TV and obituaries for days as well as crying. I can''t bear to go through that again. My sincere condolences to those who have any connections to VT.

i didnt hear about what happend until after i got home from school adn as a college student it scares me that something this horrible has happend because it is possible to occur any where on any campus...even at my university any one can walk into any building or lecture center and no one pays any attention....i cant stop thinking about what happend and i am keeping all those students and the families of the victims in my prayers..including the parents of the gun man because they are going to have to live with this guillt for the rest of thier lives....i cant even begin to imagine what his parents are thinking...or even to know where to begin to figure out what went wrong....

we all need to keep those who fell victim to this tragety in our prayers...

They are showing pictures of these lovely young men and women who died on the news. It makes it so heartbreakingly real to see faces and names and realize these lives were cut short so tragically. Such a waste of potential. Heroes will emerge, such as the teacher who put himself in front of the door. Many questions will be raised and not of all them will be answered. But in the end, the truth remains that 32 young lives are over, and whether or not anyone thinks it could have been predicted or prevented, the lives of all the families involved are forever changed. The town and school are forever impacted, but it seems like a strong and supportive community so hopefully they will be able to pickup the pieces and go on. Just seeing the faces of these students did me in, and I hope their families find peace and have support around them.

News is saying there is now a bomb threat at Burrus Hall.

Police say it was an "unfounded suspicious" event.

www.nytimes.com has an interactive feature about each victim. I made myself reach about each one as my own small tribute.

This is just beyond horrible. My kids are in preschool and elementary school and even while they are away from me at school this week, it makes me nervous to have them out of my sight. As we learned with the Amsih school tragedy last year, not even elementary school students are immune to crazy shooters.

I was talking to my 90 year old grandmother yesterday about if she thinks the world has become more violent from when she was my age. She says yes and no. She says that of course there were always wars but the random stuff has gone up. She also felt that when WWII happened and she rememebered it well that the world felt there was a justification but with the current war we are flailing.

It was really interesting to hear her thoughts as someone who has the wisdom of being in the world a much much longer time than me.

She told me something really interesting too. She lives in DC and she told me the Washington Post headline yesterday was the same huge type print as when it announced WWII happened. She said she had never seen that large print since WWII on the front page of the Washington Post, not even for subsequent wars since WWII. She said that she saw the headline before she had her glasses on and she KNEW something horrible happened just based on the print size.

edited to add, I have the TODAY show on and it is profiling people that died and the show is about the tragedy. I just can't get over all the people that died so horrbily. The individual profiles of the victims are really getting to me. I can't even imagine what their families and friends are going through.

I too, just watched the piece they did on the Today show about Ryan Clark, and it literally brought me to tears. How tragic.

Every since 9/11, its been so difficult to hear about such things, and even more difficult when its all over the media. You can''t not watch it or think about it. I lost a family memer in 9/11 and I can certainly identify with the families and friends of all those innocent people who died on Monday.

My condolences to those who lost family and friends

Rosebud,
I''m so sorry for your loss.

Yup, I saw that too and it brought me to tears too. He was so full of potential. Also, when they interviewed his twin. My husband is a twin and I can't even imagine how he would cope if his twin got killed. Twins are like soul mates, they have such an unreal bond that can't be replaced.

Rosebud I'm sorry for your loss too.

Harriet and Amylikesrocks, thank you.

It really puts things into perspective, and I think we're going to learn about more and more of each of the victims. Its such a tragedy...

The sad part is that they said that Cho was so quiet, and when he spoke, it was in a whisper - who knew what evil he had in him?? Even his own roommates didn't even know him very well. That is the frightening part about this whole thing.

I am impressed with the students at VA Tech with how they've kept their composure throughtout this whole thing. It is really amazing.

Sorry Rosebud, MissPrudential and Indecisive for your losses.

It is very sad. I am just praying hard for all the families and friends. It makes you count your blessings and give extra hugs to your loved ones because you never know what can happen at any moment.
