Hi
, I have been a lurker for sometimes, researching for my e ring. I can not describe how much Pricescope has educated me and made me appreciate jewelry. Thank you all!
The reason I opened the topic is that during my quest I came upon a gorgeous 1.7 VS2, with ASG 000 and HCA less than 2. It was described by the gemologist as 'will be completely clean from the top view and will require at least 10X magnification in order to see any inclusions' however it 'does have a very small dark crystal inclusion that if viewed with very sharp eyes and closer than 10" (this will also depend on the angle of the diamond and the lighting) may be seen'.
Now I have not much experience with well cut diamonds and not so sure how much that will bother me
. I got pretty sharp eyes and could sport inclusions in stones my partner doesnt, though those stones were mostly SIs. At first I thought I couldnt bear looking at a diamond with a little mark like that for the amount of money that will be spent. Then one day, I tried on a 1.58 carat SI triple X in the store and couldn't spot any inclusion at all due to the blinding fires coming out from the stone (admittedly in the store lighting and the inclusions are probably white crystal or cloud). Then I started to think about how that mark probably would not look very obvious to me in the VS2 stone with even better cut and brilliance. I think I can live with an inclusion I dont see 90% of the time. The problem is I live in Autralia so it will be very complicated to order a stone to examine it then return if not happy.
So I would appreciate if PS members could let me know, in real life situation how often you see the dark inclusions in your VS2 or SI1 stones ? Under what lighting condition? Has anyone had friends/relative spotted their inclusion? I understand that VS2 inclusions in 1.5-1.7 carat sometimes are more visible than in 1-1.2 carat stones. Thanks for your help!
