I went to the jeweller''s about the week after the proposal to get my ring resized. It was too loose and it really bugged me. The man who made my ring was going on holiday for two weeks, so he told me I could keep it until he came back and go back this week. So I went yesterday after work. I decided to have it sized from 5 to 4.5, and then he looked at my ring under the loupe and told me they''d have to recast the whole setting because he''d found "pinholes" in it! I looked at it under the loup, and there were indeed three tiny holes in the setting; he said there must have been little air bubbles when they first made it. So... Instead of missing it for a few days, I''ll miss it for at least two weeks...

I''m so sad, because it was the ring he''d proposed with, and we had it blessed by my priest...

I went for a manicure on Saturday, and now that I have nice nails, I have no ring!! At least it''ll be insured by then, but...

WAAAH!!
7.gif

Definitely WAHHHH!!!! But hey, better to get it fixed now than have it break later. Maybe you can take the new one to the priest as well? I''m sorry you have to be without it for awhile, but at least when you get it back, it will fit right!

Aww sweetie, I''m sorry. I''m debating about having mine sized, too. I think I''m still not sure how it''s supposed to fit, so I''m going to give it a bit of time.

I hope that it''s done completely safely this time! And maybe it''ll be fun to have it all over again and have it be all shiny and fresh and new. I''m trying to be positive here!!

Thanks for the support, ladies... Seeing it in a more positive way helps!! And fisher, I need to see pics off that ring!!

I''m so sorry Anchor! Try to be positive...at least you''ll have the problem taken care of before something drastic happens. I''m sure your priest will bless the new ring for you, and as for the sentimental value, maybe J can re-propose with the fixed ring?
2.gif

Poor ring! I bet you will feel a little bit on the naked side without it!

But just think how exciting it will be to have it back!

Oh Anchor..
7.gif
I am SO so sorry! That''s too sad!! *hugs*

I''m so sorry to hear that! I hope that the next version is the on you''ll wear for a lifetime - unless you have some upgrades in mind already ....

The actual stones will still be blessed.

You will be glad to have it fixed now and feel secure wearing it! A friend of mine had hers break due to tiny imperfections somehow that they didn''t catch. You sure don''t want that to happen down the road!! Sorry you are without it right now, but like someone posted above it will feel new again and have the fresh from the jeweler sparkle when you get it back! Hope it''s soon!!

unfortunate, but at least you have such a great jeweler.

Aw Anchor sorry your left hand will be naked for the next two weeks!! At least he found the pinholes before he resized it!! I know that doesn't make up for it...

I know how you feel about feeling naked without your ring. When I first got the ring (not an e-ring) that my FF gave me it too had to be resized..opps no special ordered for me and they had it for about 3 weeks!! It was a long wait...but I was thrilled when I got it back on my finger.

Hope these next two weeks go by fast for you!

Anchor, I''m so sorry you have to be without your ring AND have it recast!! That''s too bad, but at least he caught it ahead of time. That is so much better than having it fall apart on you out of the blue. I hope the 2 weeks pass quickly for you!

That is a waah, but so glad they caught it and your ring will be perfect. Hopefully the 2 weeks will go by quickly for you Anchor, HUGS!!!!

Aww...I''m sorry anchor, but you know that it will come back perfect! Better than breaking and losing it sometime later in the future. I know it sucks not to have your ring; my RHR has been missing for a couple of weeks now, and I swear it''s like withdrawal pains. Hopefully, you''ll get yours back sooner than two weeks! And post more pics when you get the chance. I LOVE the design of your ring.

Aww Anchor, I can definitely relate to ring problems. I hope that this is the only issue you''ll have. Hopefully, he''ll get it done ASAP. You definitely need that baby on your finger when school starts
2.gif

Your poor thing! But better the problem gets caught and fixed now rather than you look down one day and find your ring gone or broken. Maybe you could go get a little fun temporary sparkly to keep your finger company while the e-ring is getting redone!

That stinks. But KUDOS to them for catching that this has happened and stepping up to fix it before something really bad happened....like it breaking on its own. That''s a person you want to continue working with!!

Well, Anchor, I truly feel your pain. I hope you can get this re-blessed -- it''s still the "same" ring he proposed with and I agree with the other ladies that''s it''s better to fix now than have a problem later...

I had to send mine away yesterday, too... back to New York for a couple small fixes. Given that it will take a week just to GET there, I''m sad, but then who knows how long he''ll have it? We''re taking our engagement-celebration weekend trip to Hot Springs in 2 weekends (we got rained out this last weekend) and I''m crossing fingers to have it back by them -- we''ll be taking a lot of pics, too
7.gif
So I get what you are going through -- guess we are LIW''s of a sort again, aren''t we?
2.gif
I hope yours gets fixed quickly!

Sorry to hijack - what was wrong with your ring, Jen?

I felt like I was hijacking, too, FG, but I posted here rather than my own thread b/c Anchor and I are in a similar boat here. Anyway, I was really bothered by a prong that was not touching the stone like the rest -- it was higher and I swear I could see a small gap between it and the stone. Scared me a bit. But more importantly, the head of the ring was sitting slightly diagonally to the ring itself, something that would bother me to no end if it weren''t fixed (it seemed as though the gold used to attach the head to the ring may have pooled a bit more on one side). It seems minor, but for the price we paid, I needed it addressed.

Over and above that, there was the issue of the micro-pave on the bars that hold the halo. I have become completely content with the ring *not* having them, but we were charged an amount more than 50% over the "ballpark" figure we were given for the halo itself. We didn''t even flinch at the amount b/c we knew that they were doing more work to the ring than originally planned. At this point, I feel like some $ should be refunded, but worst case scenario, they add the diamonds and we all call it good. The "refund" isn''t something I have discussed with him yet (he''ll call when he gets the ring to re-hash the "issues") and I am afraid I don''t have the necessary boy-parts to ask for this! He seems eager to please, and I''ve thoroughly enjoyed working with him, so I don''t/didn''t want to say anything that would be bad for his positive reputation here.

What do you think? What would you do?

Thanks, FG!
jen

(anchor---sorry to hijack and sorry this is so long!)

Oh sweetie I''m sorry you have to part with your ring. Its amazing how quickly it just practically becomes a part of your finger and it feels so akward to have it gone. I am so sentimental and the thought that it would no longer be the actual ring my fiance proposed with would tear me up.

I''m in the same boat too. I had a stone come loose and when I had it tightened they uncovered porosity on 2 of the prongs when they polished it
39.gif
I need to send it back to Tacori, and I know I should do it before the Christmas rush but the thought of parting with it for the 5-8 weeks it will take for the recast has me in fits. Plus I''m just so disappointed with Tacori at this point I have little confidence they''ll get it right.

Ugh. Heres hoping we both have whole rings back on our fingers soon
35.gif

I don''t know what I''d do without all of you!! I feel much better about the whole thing knowing that I''ll miss it for about 10 more days or so, but at least there won''t be any chance of losing a stone somehere down the road (YIKES!!!)... Thanks Kaleigh, JulieN, therighttime and AmberWaves!

Fancy605 and RoseAngel04 - I feel so naked without it, and at the same time I''ve had it for such a short time that I look at the pictures I''m like: "Is that really mine??" So it all feels a little weird, if this makes any sense… I can’t wait to get it back though , I feel strangely “unengaged” without it!

IrishAngel - It''d be nice if my FI re-proposed with the new one, or presented it to me in a special way… We''ll see, I guess!

28.gif

SeattleSparkle - Haha, no upgrades for a looooong time!! Or so FI says, but I''m okay with that! It’s a perfect style and size for me, at least for the next ten or so years…

31.gif

Ally - Yes, I definitely have to have that baby on my finger before school starts... According to what the lady at the jeweller''s said, it should be done by the 21st or so.

Cinderella, sk8erjen and Rhapsody – Thanks for the cheering up, I hope you get your rings back soon too! We should start a support group for those waiting for their rings to be fixed…

Anchor, I think you just did!

One nice thing Anchor is that you know you get to see, touch, and WEAR your beautiful ring THE MINUTE it''s done! No more of this "I know my ring is done but I don''t have it yet" crap!

You''re engaged... it''s your ring... and it''s ALMOST back... just with a little lovin'' in the form of a make-over....

Again, congrats on the engagement, and sorry there''s a hitch in the road so early : (

Aussiegirl : p

Haha, sk8jen, let everyone rant here about their rings in repair, then!
28.gif

Ah, but aussie, I did my waiting too, just like you! I was a official LIW for 10 months. Not that I''m engaged, I wish I didn''t have to wait after the jeweler to fix his own mess-up... But thanks for the support, it means a lot. Your own waiting will come to an end soon, don''t worry!
5.gif

So... update. A lady from the jeweler''s called me today and told me the ring was done and now flawless, but he''d made it in size 5 like the original, not 4.5 like I''d asked; was that ok? I explained that 5 was really to loose and it bugged me, even worried me on colder days. So it''ll be done sometime next week.
39.gif
The lady sounded even more frustrated with the man who''s been working on my ring than I feel! I''m a bit bummed to think I could have gotten it today, but what can I do... At least it''ll be flawless, the right size, and insured when I''ll have it.

Any news about your own rings to be fixed, ladies?

Oh no, Anchor. However, when you get it, you''ll know that it''s perfect and sized properly. Win-win situation. Here''s hoping the wait won''t seem too interminable.

shay

Thanks Shay!

So have any of the others who are waiting anxiously noticed a change in their moods?? I feel almost "unengaged" again, even though that is definitely not the case. I just have felt down since I sent it off -- even Matt commented on it -- and I was wondering if you did too? And, no, not time for Aunt Flo to visit, so it''s not the hormonal thing

I know exactly how you feel!! I feel "unengaged" again too, and it''s awful... And I miss my FI; I haven''t seen him since Thursday and I''m not going to see him before Wednesday (hopefully he''ll have the ring with him!). When we were long-distance it wasn''t so bad not seeing him for a week, but now that we''ve been together almost everyday since the beginning of July, I miss him after a day!! I feel silly calling him my fiancé without a ring on my finger... But it''ll be over soon. Three days tops, probably.

I''M GETTING MY RING BACK ON WEDNESDAY!!! It''s ready and J will pick it up tomorrow after work, then come to have dinner with me on Wednesday. He can''t give it to me tomorrow because of my work schedule, but... Yay! I can''t wait!!!

Also, it''s been 1 month today since the proposal!

It''s a bit sad I''ve had my ring only 2/3 of that time, but hey! I''m getting it back, sized properly and flawless, in less than 48 hours!!! WOOHOO!!
