Waiting for medical results

Hey all.

Kinda on edge as I'm waiting on some medical results from my breast ultrasound (the girls are small but alas, dense).

I get testing every year, ultrasound or mammogram. Last year they took a second look with the mammogram and I was cleared for another year. I'm hoping that happens this year too! I have to wait about a week I'm told or the results.

My understanding is density doesn't increase my risk, but harder to see fully through the density.

Had my first ultrasound at 20 when the doc felt what he thought was a lump. 39 years ago. I used to buy new earrings when I got the all clear but stopped. I think this year calls for a new pair if I get the all clear.

Thinking of you @Begonia this period of waiting must be daunting. I hope and pray that you have good results.

While we wait, we can definitely look at earrings. It'll be a welcomed distraction. What kind of earrings are you thinking of?

Okay, I'm in!

Here's what I have.
The second is the graduated look I'll go for by having a second small gold hoop next to the first. It's not too exciting LOL, I'll just be ordering a smaller second set.

Sending positive thoughts and good wishes up to you from down here in Texas!
And be sure to post the glamour shots of your new earrings when you get them!

Keeping good thoughts for you @Begonia
Praying you get good news ❤️

I also have very dense breasts so always get an ultrasound with my mammogram. My tests are next week. It can be nerve wracking. But hopefully you’ll get the all clear

LOVE your earrings!

I hope you get the all clear!

Thank you @jeaniefish!
The longest wait is for medical results, I swear.

Thank you @missy! They're small but dense, wth??? I know I know, one has nothing to do with the other. Sigh.

Lemme know how it goes?

(Thank you for saying you love them)

I hope you get the all clear!

From your lips to God's ears @JPie!

Love your new ring!! Might have to try that on for a wee moment...

Fingers and toes crossed it’s nothing. I’m a dense girl, too.

Good luck!

My routine mammogram in 2020 revealed some Calcium deposit which could be an indication of something nasty developing.

A number of visits and a day surgery late to remove the deposit during Covid, I was given the all clear with no sign of cancer.

It was a big relief even though I was prepared for the worst.

Therefore, good luck with your result @Begonia ! :wavey:

For me, each subsequent annual mammogram since the removal of the Calcium deposit in 2020, I had been given the all clear, and shall now return to routine frequency of once every 3 years going forward.

DK :))

Thank you!!!

Last year they had a hard time with the density ergo the ultrasounds now. Lost my grandma and her sister to breast cancer (before I was born) but not Mom or sister, so the professionals seem less concerned overall. Yours is a good example that not everything is cancer.

Awww thanks @Mrsz1ppy!! Wonder what causes density??

Breast density is primarily determined by genetics. But age and body weight and hormones can affect it to some degree as well. Younger women, those with lower body mass indexes, and those taking hormone therapy are more likely to have denser breast tissue.

I’m with you. Our breasts may be perkier than those with lower density. But that depends on various factors too.
I like my small breasts. Always have.
Greg says they’re the perfect size lol

Still continuing good thoughts for you Begonia

Ahhh ok. I didn't want to Google as it usually/always triggers my anxiety further. That morsel of info is enough.

Same with my hubbo. I've always been happy with my smaller gals too!

Waiting is hard.

Keeping you in my thoughts, @Begonia. I know how anxious-making these tests can be.

My older sister was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer last year at age 51. Happily, she's responding really well to the medication, and there has been no progression in the last year. She doesn't have any of the genetic markers, and my doctors won't even test me for them, so I'm not considered very high risk, but definitely am at a higher risk than average. I have my annual mammo and ultrasound in 2 weeks, and I'm already getting anxious.

I'm relieved to hear that your sister is responding well and she has my prayers for a positive outcome and can put this behind her soon, for good.

Right??? I deal with this every year it seems, as there were areas of concern starting in my very early 20's. I get it, oh do I get it. The wait, while brutal always gives me pause to think about what's important to me and how I want to go forward. Let us know how it goes for you please.

The sky seems more blue today, the sun more golden.

Unfortunately, once it's metastatic, there's no putting it behind her. It had already spread to her bones by the time they detected the cancer. Luckily, new medications they've introduced in recent years, specifically Kisqali in her case, are proving to dramatically extend the lives, and quality of life, of women with metastatic breast cancer, and we're hoping with all our hearts she long outlives the 3-5 year average.

I apologize for my ignorance @lala646.

I will add to that hope with your family and friends.
