Wanna help me find a nice Sphene?

I ordered a stone from Gemline, and I'm pretty sure I didn't have to sign for it, that they just left it for me in my mailbox. Of course, the mailbox is on the front porch, so it was pretty safe, but I don't think you have to be there. I think it depends on your postman and whether or not s/he thinks it's secure enough without a signature.

Update: my sphene arrived and it is lovely! It's a yellowish-green color, just like I wanted. It is yellower in real life than the photo, but otherwise, the photo is a pretty good representation of it (as far as photos go at least). The fire is amazing. After I opened up the package, I went outside with it and the red and green fire show was spectacular. I was home for lunch break and that's when the mail was delivered so I still don't know whether they would have left it or not. They did not make me sign anything. I went by and dropped my new treasure off with my jeweler to have it set as a pendant. I'm hoping to get it back shortly. I'll post photos when it's all finished. Oh, and I decided on a simple setting on a regular chain. My other plans were getting too complicated and when I saw how gorgeous the stone is, I decided that simpler would be better to showcase a great looking stone.

Tanzigrrl, I can't wait to see your set sphene! I have one that I'm dying to set, but nothing has really jumped out at me - mine's yellowish too. Are you setting yours in white or yellow gold?

Cellentani - sterling silver, if you can believe that~~ I haven't had anything in sterling silver in years (except my charm bracelet, but that's a totally different thing). I already had a Tiffany sterling silver 16" chain that I wanted to use and asked my jeweler for a simple basket setting with a "tube" bail (so the pendant won't flip around on the chain). He wants to make a basket with some filagree or design on the sides, so we'll see. I said a simple basket was just fine. Although my stone is just what I was looking for and is lovely, it was not a major purchase and so silver seems perfectly acceptable in this case. This is going to be one of my simpler pieces of jewelry but the stone has such amazing fire that I wanted to keep it toned down so that the stone will just shine!

Excellent! Hope to see photos of your sphene soon. :appl:

Re: Wanna help me find a nice Sphene? - Updated w/Photos

Hi, All,
My jeweler called today and told me to come by after work and pick up my sphene pendant. It turned out great! I love it! As usual, though, my photos are awful. However, this is the best I can do. I'll take some in the sunlight tomorrow. You cannot see any fire in the stone from the photograph, but it sure does sparkle with beautiful fire. Thank you all for your help with this project. Does anyone want to hazard a guess which necklace I'll be wearing tomorrow?

That was fast! Great simple pendant...gotta do some thing with one of mine. I've got a handful of cheapies that I haven't set yet but I love to play with them.

Congrats! Hope you get lots of comments on it. Sometimes it is the less expensive stuff that other people notice the most. :appl:
