We need to take up a collection here on PS so chrono can buy a digital camera

This is really sad. I can afford to spend $$$ on diamonds and jewellery but have a hard time justifying buying a digital camera.

The new version is so... perfectly done

For the size of those round sapphire, the prongs dissapear - I really, really like that trick. And everything else about the 'new' if I may.

Hand pictures manadatory, of course!

Bah!! I lost my post as I fiddled with the text settings.

I like the second one better. At first I didn't... but after scrolling back and forth with every comment I read.. my eyes got used to the initial sense of incongruence between the straight edge and round.. and actually preferred the uniqueness of that very feature (the "Princess Leia" effect?). It just never got boring even as I kept going back! I say keep it exactly the way it is !

I have been a "little" busy lately and missed this entirely.

This was a fun project and Chrono ended up with a very beautiful ring. I did not think I would like the second one as much as I did, it is too bad that the up close photography does not give a better representation of what the ring looks like to the eye. The lines of the ring are clean and flowing, and of course the colors of the 18kt gold and platinum really POP with the beautiful blue of the sapphires and the white of the jubilee that Jonathon provided.

I think that when Chrono gets a chance to post on the hand pictures at a normal viewing distance you will see just how beautiful this ring really is. It is sturdy, yet delicate looking and the three prongs really allow the design to flow much more than four prongs would. The only thing I would have done differently in this whole quest is to insist that the buyer actually see the stones rather than telling me they look fine in a picture. With color it is just too hard to judge without actually seeing the stones. Had Chrono seen the trillions fist she might have said they weren''t quite what she wanted before making the first ring.

I want to compliment Chrono for her courtesy at all times during this process. She was always a delight to work with. I am very glad that she now has a ring that she loves and that the end result was a happy Chrono.

Thanks for popping in Wink! I know you are very busy.

In case no one has already guessed, after a week, I''ve decided to keep the ring as it is. The design is unique and is not what most people might be used to seeing but I''ve got nothing but compliments in real life. I''ve been stopped and asked to show my ring around quite a few times already.

I''m very pleased with the workmanship of the ring, the quality of the stones and the patience (and customer service) of Winfield''s. My thanks to Wink and Sheila. Their patience is beyond words as I consider myself a very difficult, detail oriented, impatient, demanding yet wishy washy customer.

Wink always took the time to listen to my crazy ideas and accepted the practical ones while delicately discouraging me from the horrible ones. I was felt like the #1 customer.

You probably also correctly guessed that I''ve YET to even take a picture yet. Okay, I''ll get my butt moving and go take some pictures.

Chrono, glad to hear that you like your beautiful ring. We still need to take up a collection so that you can buy a digital camera.

Yes, Wink makes ALL of his customers feel like they are #1. That''s why he is such a joy to work with.

You all are quite right again about the look. It is different in person because the ring is much smaller. Wishy washy me is thinking about keeping the 3 prong look now.
Chrono.....I suspected you might change your mind once you saw it in person. I''m not surprised at all.

When I was having Whiteflash make my ring, he sent me pictures of the ring. The prongs *looked* ENORMOUS. I expressed my reservations to Brian......"holy cow, it looks like the prongs are mountains!" or some similar comment and said I was thinking I might want him to make them smaller.

He patiently explained that the problem with pictures is that they don''t "tell the truth" even though they do tell the truth. They show things to a level of detail and size that the eye wouldn''t otherwise see. In person, however, the prongs look fine.

He said "let me ship it to you as is....and if you still feel they are too big, you can ship it back at our cost and I''ll bring them down to your liking." As usual, he was right.....I opened the package and signed with relief...it looked beautiful as is.

I figured you''d like it when you saw it in person. YAY, and congratulations!
