Want ribbon-style ring, low price, need mucho help!

BEST of luck. YOU seem like you have a really good head on your shoulders. You can definitely get a ring you will love for your budget. Your SIL is NOT going to drop her jaw even if you showed up with the Hope diamond; keep that in mind. Get what YOU love at a budget you're comfortable spending. She will no doubt call it "cute" or "dainty" or even "small" or "cheap." Who cares......................

Lookie lookie what I found...

ANY jeweler with access to Stuller can make you a VERY similar ring!

http://www.stuller.com/products/121995/?groupId=113518

great find! I find it annoying they wont tell us the price. Wont ja use those settings they just arent returnable?
Yea you have to be a professional with an account to get the price. I know GOG has access to Stuller, a lot of jewelers do. I don't know about JA. But Stuller is a stock company. AFAIK from past experience you can bring almost anything in from Stuller and the jeweler can return it as long as it's a "stocked" item. If it says not normally stocked, as this one says, that is when I think the jeweler can't return it as I think it's cast to order probably to fit the stone.

Hello All!

Thanks so much for continuing the search for my perfectly priced ring! We're waiting for our tax refunds before we order. I showed this thread to my FI and I've decided to choose a few settings I like and let him pick the one he finally gets. That way I can still be surprised when he proposes :P So please keep any and all suggestions coming :appl:

Now I need to know what I'm getting into when it comes to buying a setting and a stone separately. How do I get the stone in the setting? Do I use a local jeweler or an online company? How much will/should it cost?

Well what I would recommend is that you get it all at once, and I personally would go all online vendor, making sure that if you want this exact look--the ribbon ring--that you find a vendor who has access to Stuller, and uses well cut melee. Good Old Gold is one that would qualify. You can give them the link that I posted above to that item on Stuller's website and they can order it when they know what stone you're getting. That way you can get a fantastic center stone through them, and they are providing you with TONS of data, and then they put the whole ring together for you and send it to you.
