Hello! Well, I've been on the hunt for something to commemorate a few big milestones I've accomplished this year. I've posted once before and got some great suggestions but could never find anything that spoke to me. FIrst I wanted something with sapphire and diamonds but I decided against that because my budget didn't allow for the quality sapphire I would want and I've always wanted sapphires in my wedding band but who knows if I'll ever get married. So then I discovered OECs and fell in love. At first I wanted to find a stone and set it in the BGD Barbara pendant so I could wear it every day but then I decided I really wanted a ring. I use my hands a lot and want to be able to see and enjoy my bling. Silly I know. So for the last few months I've been trolling the pre-loved forum here, ebay, ruby lane, etc. Well I think I finally found it! It's much warmer than I ever considered but after searching on here and seeing some of the other ladies beautiful warm OECs in rose gold and the fact that it's the only piece that I've really been drawn to, I decided to pull the trigger. I'm nervous because this is my first jewelry purchase and the largest thing I've purchased online (compared to most on here it's tiny, I know). But as someone who aspires to have a decent bling collection some day, I had to start somewhere! So here are the stats...

The Diamond is GIA certified. and the certification reads,
Old European Brilliant
5.74_5.87x 3.93mm
Carat weight : 0.84 carat
color: S to T range
Clarity: VS2
Total depth: 67.7 %
Table: 45 %
Medium Blue Fluorescence

It is set in a Rose Gold vintage reproduction setting. There is a 14 day return policy and the seller has been absolutely amazing with answering questions and has assured me that if this isn't the one for me then no worries, I can just send it back. I paid a little over $1,000.

So what do you think? How'd I do?

I was watching that one and I like it a lot and think the price is very good!

The first picture shows that the center has a bot of maltese cross effect -- where there are soem facets lit up against a darker background. Is that accurate to how it looks in person? Some darkness is common and no big deal. And I also really like the teensy table for that style of old cut. You just want to check if its dark more often than not, or if the darkness bothers you. Ideally in a stone like that you want the under-table area to never go *totally* black, like a dark circle -- there should always be some facets lit up like there are in that first photo.

I say good buy!

Very pretty!!!

It looks lovely!! If you love the way it looks, then I think the price was good, esp for the ring as a whole not just a stone. Wear it in great health! I also love OEC's in rose gold, those are harder to find on eBay so good find.

I think RG goes well with the diamond color. I'm actually surprised nobody purchased that ring sooner because the price was great for the whole package. It was meant to be yours! ::)

very nice! I like that stone set in the RG - are you wanting to change it out? I like it in that setting -it suits your hand very well!!

I think it's lovely!

Thanks everyone for the responses! It's a relief to know I wasn't way off in my impression of the ring. I should have clarified....the pictures are from the ebay listing. I just won the auction this morning so I don't have it yet. :(( I wanted so badly to ask for opinions before I bid but I didn't want to invite other bidders, if you know what I mean. :Up_to_something: But I was also concerned I may have been off in what I was thinking. So I couldn't wait until I got the ring to post! I will most certainly do a proper SMTB thread when I get it after the Holidays and figure out how to take good pictures.

There were several other pictures listed initially and it didn't seem like there was too much darkness under the table, so I'm hoping that won't be an issue. The seller said that it was full of fire, so we'll see.

As for the setting, I am planning on keeping it the way it is for now. I'll live with it for a while and see how I feel about it. I love vintage stuff and so it suits me and my taste. I just wish it was original, of course. But overall for the price I paid, I can't complain.

Now the hard part, waiting for it to arrive :errrr:

I personally really like the diamond and the fact that it is set in rose gold is a major plus! :appl:

I'm glad you are going to live with it for a bit - it really does look like an amazing stone and it seems so perfectly well suited to that particular setting. I hope it looks as wonderful on YOUR hand as it does on the picture above!

Congrats again on a great scoop === and for $1000!! you're brilliant at this!!

Well if those are the vendor pics -- looks like more were added since I saw it last -- then you are good to go. I would have bought it with those pics and specs and price, if I was in the market. Just give it a test drive when you get it!

Not an expert but I think it looks yummy! Really dig the rose gold look with the OEC.

I think it's really lovely and I like the rose gold setting!

YAY! I love RG + warm colored stones, it's beautiful, and you paid a wonderful price!
