This week we put a deposit down on our ceremony and reception venue. Since we''re having a Catholic ceremony it was quite an accomplishment to find a unique ceremony spot so we are thrilled. Sept 22, 2007.

Here''s a link to the church. It''s an old church within a "living museum" of a 19th century village. My fiance and I are both Irish Catholic, and my grandfather was a farmer, so I thought the history of this was charming.

I have just started looking at gowns, and want something comfortable, and fairly simple. I''m liking some of the very soft lace looks maybe because it seems a bit antique-y? Here is the fave I''ve seen so far online. I love the back. I thought something like this would be in keeping with the style of our site. I love the advice of dress gurus on here so please feel free to send any ideas my way

Now is where I need advice- My 3 sisters are my bms and they range in age from 47-53. I wanted to have them in black so they could either pick out a dress of their choosing, but may go with some separates or something in a deep red autumn-y color. I can''t decide.
Our reception venue isdecorated in a slate blue color theme (colonial blue)with mauves and burgundy, and I very much want sunflowers and/or daisies incorporated in my bouquet (i.e. less formal style) I also love hydrangeas and peonies....
I almost feel like I should pick out the flowers before the bm dresses.

I''ve seen lots of good ideas combining dark reds with golds and dark blues, but would this all work with black bm dresses? I appreciate your opinions-

Sorry for the long post

First of all, your church is adorable! I also love the dress you picked. I think it''s a great fit with your location.

Peonies aren''t in season in September, sadly. I''m a September bride and though I *love* them, to get them would be far too expensive. Therefore, I''m supplimenting my bouquet with other "fluffy" flowers.

I think either black or red BM dresses would work, and to tie the colors of your reception into your bouquet, you could have little bits of hydrangea and a mauvy color (plus sunflowers and a burgundy flower) in your bouquet. Your girls could carry one single sunflower.

I made a quick mockup of some color ideas. These are just ideas! If you hate them, at least you''ll know what direction NOT to go in!

ebree,
thank you so much for the ideas- i love the idea of a single sunflower-
and the color palette you did is perfect-

i love the color of the bm dresses-
thank you!
i need to get more savvy with the computer to do mockups, etc.

thanks again, and you''re right, i''m sad about the peonies in september, but will try to get the color another way.

HEY! Thats right by MEEEEE!!!! It was weird because when you said a living museum.. I was like.. Oh.. it must be like mumford.. but it IS mumford! It was so fun to go there when I was younger!

AND OH MY LORD I LOVE THAT DRESS!!!!!! Its TO DIE FOR!!!!

I really do not know how i feel about black bridesmaid dresses with autumny colors though.. I think the fall colors are so pretty.. maybe a brown or a red like you suggested would work better.

It was no problem at all!

I think single sunflowers would *pop* against burgundy dresses, and I love the idea of your bouquet representing all of the colors around you. The bouquet I posted was way too springy, but I just wanted to give you an idea of what a bunch of colors (with sunflowers) would look like. Your florist will know what fall flowers to put together.

melissa sue,
that is so funny! we are ''neighbors''!

i agree, now i am re-thinking the black. all my sis''s will look stunning in a darker fall color so will probably go down that path now
