Keeper of the List! I''M ENGAGED!! Even writing this feels slightly surreal... But it happened yesterday at 12:30!
Here''s our engagement story...
Yesterday, J got his paycheck and he told me he had the money to get the ring. I really wanted him to get it right away so I made the sweetest eyes I could at him and, laughing, he told me I could come too. I was so shocked and excited!
Once there, the jeweler made me try on the ring (I almost died!) and he told us that intead of ordering two .10ct marquise cuts for my ring, he used two .13ct stones he already had in his inventory! That means that my ring is not .70ctw, but .76ctw!! And no extra charge! I''m so thrilled, the proportions are perfect!
I had to go to work not so far from there about 2 hours later (we are doing informational booth about recycling, pesticides, compost and stuff on the week-ends), so we went for a walk in Maisonneuve Park nearby. It''s a very lovely park full of trees and flowers, and walking in it you often forget you''re in the city... J still had the box in his pocket, and it didn''t take long before I noticed he was taking deep breaths to gather up his courage and furtively (right
) looking for the perfect spot, while saying how beautiful he thought the ring was and how all the effort it took was worth it. Of course, I started to very strongly suspect he was going to propose right then!
He lead me to a very pretty patch of trees with flowers, he took my hands, looked at me and asked me if he should get on one knee. I told him I''d like that, so he got on one knee and took a deep breath. I started crying! He said the most beautiful things to me about how much he loved me and how I was the light of his life and he wanted me to light his way through the rest of his life and even through death, and he asked me if I would give him my hand in marriage. Through my tears, I managed to say yes!! He opened the box and put the ring on my finger. I''m so happy I still get weepy just thinking about it!
And then I had to go to work...
My collegues were so excited for me!
All I could think about all day was to get back to my fiancé (
) and all I could do was stare at my ring and watch it sparkle it the light!!
Today we''re going at my parents'' for the week-end... and my grandmother will be there! My parents know about us getting engaged this year (though they''ll probably still be shocked today!), but my grandmother doesn''t know about it at all. I expect she''ll cry... I think she''s been hoping for this for a long time.
So that''s it! I''m engaged!
Sorry, no pics for now, but I''ll try to take some as soon as I can!
Thank you so much to all the LIWs, the BIWs and other PSers who have supported me through my 9 months as a LIW here... I owe you so much!
