Wedding band ideas for an eternity band engagement ring?

Hello,

I'm considering an substantial eternity ring (victoriouslegion's is my inspiration and linked blow) as an engagement band.

But I don't know what to pair as a wedding band other than a solid metal band. I liked the idea of a super slender wedding band, something like this, but without a visual of the rings stacked, I'm not sure what it'd look like.

Thoughts and ideas are welcome! :)

I think a thin twist band or engraved band might be a nice option.

A large ct eternity will have some height off the finger while a plain metal band will be much lower. IMHO it's not a good look as i like stacking rings to be close in height. Here's a pic of my 3ct eternity with thin metal band next to it that I use as a spacer. With 7ct eternity the difference will be even greater unless you get a custom high profile band made.

The best way I see a band working is to wear plain (or engraved, etc) bands on each side of the diamond band. In fact, I have a picture of that idea from when I tried on an eternity last summer and the sales person showed me how you could change the look by adding a matching band on each side. I think it would not look right to use a different diamond band as the wedding band. But really, I think a substantial diamond eternity works very well as a standalone e-ring/wedding band. You could have an alternate wedding band for when you didn't want to wear the eternity. I have alternate bands to wear when I don't want to wear my diamond e-ring.

My choice would be to wear the band as a stand-alone ring, letting the ring do double duty as an ering and wband. I just think a substantial eternity ring like the one you're considering looks best on its own.

I would have to agree with Junebug. A substantial eternity can/does hold its own, and in fact, looks best IMHO.

Agreed, when I wear my 5ct asscher band I wear it alone.

I sometimes wear my large eternity with my plain 1.7mm Tiffany platinum band. My eternity is made up of 25 pointers (was 4.5 carats when in a U-prong setting, switched to shared prong and now it's 3.75 carats - lower setting, less diamonds, but much more comfortable). Here's a pic. I just wear these 2 rings while on vacation and leave my EC at home. I know my eternity is valuable as well but much easier to replace than my EC, and I can't go away on a trip without any bling ;)
