Wedding band to wear with my AVR solitaire

Hi, everyone! I need your help!

I think I am getting over my ering getting scratched, and I'm wanting to wear a band next to it. I am open to all style options in platinum full eternity with diamonds.
Here's my ering:

I had a French cut eternity about 3mm width that I liked and enjoyed the 3mm width next to my ring. but the ring itself was too big. I could comfortably wear 5.5 to 6 next to my ering.

If I get another French cut band I would prefer a true antique... I prefer the depth over the new cuts.

I have a thin Sebastian Barier eternity that I like to wear in place of the ering when I'm on the violin. It's a bit too thin next to my ering IMO.

What do you think about this Tacori? It's 18k rhodium plated I think:

I would prefer similar color diamonds next to my ering, so my stone doesn't look too tinted... Is that the right reasoning?

I am not opposed to mixing metals, especially yellow or rose gold. I've been wearing my 18k yg watch with burgundy strap with my ering. So maybe a 18k yg or rose gold eternity to tie my ering with watch together?
How does 14k wear next to plat? Will my e-ring eat away at the 14k? What if the 14k is rhodium plated? I read somewhere that rhodium plating can scratch platinum?

Thank you in advance of any thoughts you may offer me.

Elysian, your solitaire is absolutely gorgeous!! I love the French cut band next to it but honestly, I think just about any ring would go. Your ring is perfect for a stack. Have you checked out any of the show me your stack threads? You could get tons of ideas there.

I prefer the first two.

Thanks, Catmom and Niel. Catmom, you're right, lots of inspiration from the stacking thread.

What do you think about a baguette or princess eternity? Both are channel set, I quite like the look of channel set diamonds next to the vatche u113. Will the baguettes be too silvery white against my stone? I'm ok with contrast as long as it doesn't overpower my AVR.

What I really want is this but it's a bit out of my price range... Maybe I could hold out for it... I am not very patient though.

I haven't looked at your links yet, but here is one I just tried on and love it soooo much! It is very expensive if you go with 3mm, though. By Singlestone, french cuts and rounds.

I am sorry to hear your french cut band didn't fit. I liked it better than any of the ones in the links. What did you mean about not wanting a new french cut band? I'd adore an old Tiffany band, but that one looks like the setting isn't in great condition.

I really am not fond of the Tacori band with it. I really like either a french cut band like you had or the Singlestone band I posted. Of course, maybe you want my Legacy ring! lol! Then I could go buy my SS ring! ;))

Since we are ring sisters (with mine being the baby), I am interested in seeing what you choose!

Pretty!! Not sure I want another bezel set band though. But it sure is pretty! I bet close to 10k, yes?

Close...it was 1.9 cts with a tag of $9k (probably would be a little less, though).

The new FC unless advertised as high crowns seem quite different to the true antiques. In pictures anyway, the newly cut high crown FC look the most similar to the true antique FC... You can see an x or cross with a small culet when looking head on and at a slight angle. The newly cut FC seem less 'juicy,' non culet...less depth but beautiful in its own right, just different. I am no expert, it's just what I see.

Yes, the Tiffany FC looks like it needs some tlc. If I go with this, I'd probably reset the diamonds into a new setting. But I'm not sure I want to spend that much on this project though.

 the Legacy band makes the u113 so classic looking. It is the text book perfect pairing. It's true, I would not mind adopting your band at some point.

Ok, not the Tacori band. I actually have it on consignment back at GOG. It's pretty on its own but I ran out of fingers.

Likewise; DS, I am looking forward to seeing your reset and your thought process on this. Since mine is K and yours much whiter at I color I feel you will have much more options as far as ering setting. I felt that my K AVC was a bit overpowered by the elaborate setting it was in. My orig. diamond set in an elaborate VC setting looks quite at home, but she is F color. So I wonder if it is the color or cut style (small facets vs large facets/modern cut vs. Old cut) that contributes to the overall flow/ aesthetics. Still have to figure this one out... Just some thoughts I wanted to share, not sure how valid.

What about Victor Canera's U-cut single-cut pave band? I think that would be a really lovely pairing with your ER... here's NewJewel's thread with IRL pics https://www.pricescope.com/communit...a-pave-eternity-band-with-single-cuts.167535/ and the VC listing which also has a video http://www.victorcanera.com/jewelry/bands/u-cut-shallow-type-single-cut-pave-eternity-band

It's pretty!! I love the pairing with her solitaire! Definitely will consider this band, thank you!!

I honestly have only looked at fc's up close in this SS ring. I will have a chance in a couple more weeks to see the one that VC made for mom2boys. Thanks for explaining the difference in the fc's. I have heard of the two types, but I just haven't seen enough to really know my preference. But I would think I'd prefer the high crowns, too. As much as I like the SS band, I just won't pay that much for a band, I don't think. I am about to check out a Bev K band similar to it, though, which would cost around half as much!

I am glad I like the Vatche setting, because it allows me to wear the diamond whether or not I ever find something else. It's just not worth changing unless I find something that I really love. I think color, size of stone, style of cut, etc. all affect the setting choice. It is a LOT harder for me to choose a setting than a diamond!

I like the french cut eternity ring (maybe get the size 5.5 or 6 that you said would fit better?). It has the chunky facets that compliments your OEC without being matchy-matchy.

I like french cuts.

I think you should go to a store with a lot of selection (where do you live) and just try on a bunch of stuff.

Still love a french cut with it, but maybe skinnier than the old one you had. No millgrain though.

Awww, LLJsmom! No milgrain? Gosh, AVR's and french cuts just scream for a little milgrain somewhere! :lickout: ;))

  Look no further!!!
Just order a smaller size or add sizing beads.

Sage, as always. :-)

I'm talking with Caysie Van Bebber about a band. This is going to be a fun project. ;-)

I totally agree, UrsTx. The only thing is that band had lower crowns than I like. It was beautiful though.

I live in Seattle. I've been bit by the FC bug (for the second time). For future ref and for other Seattleites what are your recommendations in my city?

[sorry to post and run; I will be back later]

We have a lot of great people in Seattle. Can you post on Hangout and ask for jewelry store recommendations in Seattle?

I know Greenlake is near there. But I'm not sure if they have a lot of display jewelry. If you were here in Nor Cal, Joe Escobar has a HUGE store with tons of stuff to try on, which is ever so helpful. You aren't coming down here anytime soon are you?

I thought no millegrain too at first but now I think the millegrain will play up the 'antiqueness' of the AVR. I'm thinking 2.8mm to just under 3mm because I have smallish hands. On the same token, I would want to see the bold flashes of the FC so not too thin either... Tough decision when I have the choice.

I think millegrain def adds an antique feel to the set, as where the absence of it and smooth channel set looks more modern. In this case, i would want some millegrain and some engraving too.

I agree with you that FC was a good match to my solitaire, but I am loving the crown height of the high crown FC/true antique FC.

Thank you everyone for your input! You helped me decide to go with a FC band. Expect a post from me soon. :-)

Hmm, maybe I may have business in LA in the next couple of weeks so I may be able to make a quick detour there. But you're right the best way to know is to try as many on as possible.

I have heard some great things about Greenlake; I will have to pay them a visit soon.

What do you think about alternating shapes in a channel band? A sequence of 3 square frenchies - 2 single cuts, millegrain edges, and width 2.8-3mm? I'm a little bit worried about the space that the round stones will have on their edges as where the squares will fill all void, if you get my drift. I requested the french cuts be extra juicy and the crowns spilling out the edges(love this look!) and Caysie already knew what I was thinking. She's a mind reader.
