Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone has taken out a loan specifically for their wedding or has heard of wedding loans. If so, where did you apply for the loan and were you allowed to use the loan to pay for anything or was the lender specific as to what you had to use the money for?

Thank you.

well- i haven''t taken out a loan for a wedding before, but i can share with you the info i think i figured out about such an instance. my FI and I explored this as an option just in case. turns out we don''t need to go this route. we looked into only our bank. there- i don''t think they really care what you use the money for, as long as you pay them on time until the loan is paid off. they did ask what it would be used for. but we answered generically saying - wedding and they didn''t ask futher. seems like for a lower rate, they want you to put something down- such as a home or car you already owe.

hope this helps. feel free to PM me with any questions.

We don't plan on taking out a loan. Since our part of the expenses is only about 5 grand (max), we got a credit card that had zero interest until the end of this year. We can easily have it paid off by then and there's no interest attached. There's also double rewards on this card. Not really a smart choice unless you're POSITIVE you can pay it off in time, so be careful.

how much would it cost to go to city hall for a license?

As fun as the big wedding can be, think how terrible starting your life together with debt will be! Are you talking about borrowing a couple of thousand or a much larger ammount? What are your wedding dreams? Is there a way to make thhem happen without borrowing money? I''ve been plnanning weddings for almost 5 years and would be happy to talk with you about some ting syou can do to cut cost and still have a fantastic day!

We''re not planning on having a big wedding, just a nice one. And since we''re planning on 2007, we have some time. I read somewhere about wedding loans a couple of years ago, but don''t remember so I thought I''d put the subject out there.

Thanks for all your suggestions!
