I plan on doing my own invitations. Does anyone know any links to places that sell blank wedding invitations?

Office supply stores (like Staples and Office Depot) and Michaels carry the same brand... I have also seen this brand in Party City. Here is a link off of Michael''s website. A friend used these and they looked great. Sometimes printing on velum can be tricky though.

Paper Direct is a company i use a lot for many different things. In the last year/year and a half they have really expanded their wedding/invitation lines. I got this paper to use for my programs. Having the paper already scored made folding SOOOO easy, my 5 and 7 year old nephew and niece were able to do it! (And no, they didnt look like a 5 yr old had folded them). They also have table tents and some favor stuff. You can even get Microsoft Word templates to help you layout everything correctly. If you are interested in them, i have several coupons you can use, just PM me. And you can also request samples... all you have to do is pay $5 for shipping, but then you get a $5 coupon for your next order, so its free as long as you make an order.

Out of curiosity, how many people are you inviting? I really wanted to make my own, but once i priced it (needed almost 200 invitations), ordering them totally done was just as expensive and a hell of a lot less work. I created my programs, favor tags and save the dates though.

Wow... i went a little crazy huh?

I got my stationary at Target -- $14.95 per 50 pack of [invite, envelope, RSVP, envelope]. I am ordering some vellum from www.paperandmore.com to fancy up the invites a bit. Its a great website with tons of options for stationary.

I am going to do my own stationary as well and I THINK I am just going to go through Xpedx. They are paper dealers and have stores nationwide. Their prices are very good and have everything you can imagine AND will cut it done to any size (for a fee of course). I have sample books and I am sure they will send you some for free. The only problem is the design I have in mind now I has one page perferated so it can tear off as the RSVP postcard. I thought about talking to my printer to see if they can do that part for me (I own my own design firm so my contacts come in handy at times like these) If you are not talking about doing complicated invites (like me

) I know they sell blank invites everywhere. Michael''s, Target, card stores, everywhere. It just depends what you have in mind. Pm if you would like more info.

I just got this software and might do my own invitations too...go to www.mountaincow.com..they are a martha stewart favorite!

Besides the obvious (the word they being attached to the link), i couldnt get the URL to work. It said there was some kind of space violation.

I couldn''t get in either.

I tried it and it said it was under construction.

I have to chime in on this thread and tell you how much I love Crane for stationery. I purchased a gorgeous guest book from them for my wedding and couldn''t have been happier with it. It went perfectly with my bridesmaid''s dresses (champagne colored) and it is just beautiful. They are a bit pricey, but hey, who cares, it''s paper! LOL. My wonderful auntie made my wedding invites for me...she is a rubber-stamp enthusiast, at first I was like, uhhhh, ok....but after she sent me some samples of things she had done for other people''s weddings I had way more faith in her. I know she purchased card stock at a rubber stamp specialty store, as well as the ink and stamp. She also made my programs with the same ink and colors. If I ever figure out how to use my new, updated digital camera I will post pics for you...it''s amazing to me what can be done with a stamp and a computer! I got so many compliments on my invites and programs I could not believe it. It was her wedding gift to us, but it was worth more than anything I can think of that we received! Good for you for choosing to make your own...feel free to pm me if you are interested in more about the above mentioned methods.

Sorry about that....lets try again

www.mountaincow.com

They also sell wedding invitation packs, different cards, etc. I just ordered 4 sample notecard packs and LOVE what I got. The cardstock is a good weight, the colors are beautiful.

Hi Monarch,
I am thinking of making my own invites using a rubber stamp, and then embossing it with the DIY ink/powder thing. I''ve never done anything like that, am a little nervous about it. Do you have any pics yet of yours, or can you describe them a little more, such as what kind of paper and ink she used? Thanks! I know this is an old thread, but hopefully you''ll see it.

Selkie

Hi Selkie! I can describe them a little more for you now, and I will dig up an invite and a program and try to post them here in the next couple days so you can see them. My aunt got what she called "card stock" at a store in Minnesota that specializes in rubber stamping, but I would think you could find the same thing at a craft store like Michael''s. On the front of the invite she stamped a very simple silhouette of a man and woman facing each other, and then put the colored ink (it''s kind of puffy, well not puffy, but raised) on the outlines. The stamp was done on a small square of paper, then she had a copper-colored piece of foil or maybe vellum under that, so it looked like a border. Below the stamp was printing, done on the computer, that said "Of all life''s promises, pledge to honor and love is most special" (or something like that

).

She had a friend help her, and it took them most of a Saturday and Sunday to put together about 125 invites.

Have you looked online for stamping supplies and techniques? I did a search for "rubber stamping" and a ton of sites came up. Hope this helps, I''ll try to get my invites posted for ya!

I went to Target yesterday and saw all their invite kits on sale... might want to check it out.

Cool, thanks! I''ve ordered some samples of different types of card stock, and already have some different inks to try out. It sounds like she did something very similar to what I want to do, although mine will be just a single piece with no vellum or border.
Thanks for the tip about Target, Flopkins, I''ll be checking that out.

Luckily, I only have to do about 30 invites.

Hi Selkie...here are some photos of my invites as promised (hopefully you can see SOME detail although my photog. skills are amateur at best!):

At least these pics will give you an idea of what we did, whether you choose to expand upon the idea or simplify it is obviously up to you. Hope this helps! Sorry I can''t get details from my aunt at the moment, she and my uncle are out of the country on vacation. I think for those outlines she used the powder stuff, but I''m not sure at all. Good luck with your invites, TG you only have to make 30!!!

What a coincidence, I was just online looking at more cardstock...so many varieties to choose from! Your invitations are beautiful, clearly a professional job. So the border is a separate "piece" from the stamp? That''s the impression I got from your earlier post.

My wedding is going to be on a schooner, so of course I''m doing the nautical theme thing. However, instead of the ubiquitous seashell/wave/dolphin invitations, I wanted to use a compass rose stamp in blue on a pearl background, or vice versa, and emboss it. The text ink will match the compass. This is the stamp I''m using. It''s sort of intricate, so I''m having trouble getting the powder to stick where it should, and not where it shouldn''t. It''s fun though, and I have over a year to perfect my technique (I''ll need it!).

Thank you for the compliment, Selkie! Professional, I don''t know...my aunt is just a very artsy craftsy gal, hee hee. But thank you anyway!

I think your stamp idea will be beautiful and unique. My aunt did throw some kind of metallic background behind the original stamp template thingie, but I have no idea what she used...it''s one of those rubber stamper people''s things, I guess. Since you have plenty of time to experiment, I can certainly contact her and get feedback on the exact materials she used and forward them to you via this PS thread when she returns from her vacation, if you like!

Tacori, Will xPedx have paper that has a border, like a metalic border or an embossed border? Or is it just plain, but nice paper? And do they have envelopes as well?
