i have a wedding website all made up and we just blocked off rooms at 2 hotels near the wedding. i''m wondering if i should put how much our group rate is on the website, or just let people find out when they make the reservations? our rate is $149/night, which seems pretty steep to me and i know it will be for some of our guests too. but those hotels are the only ones that are anywhere near our venue, and EVERYTHING in calgary is ridiculously inflated right now, so i think people would probably be hard-pressed to find a hotel for much less than that....

so, should i put the rate on the website?

I don''t think it''s necessary, unless there is a vastly different rate between the two. If I were a guest, I might like to know which choice was the budget choice and which choice was the splurge choice. But I don''t think that the specific rate is necessary, especially if they are the same price.

I wouldn''t -- I''d let people find out how much the hotel(s) is/are when they call to inquire about making reservations.

yeah we were hoping one of them would be significantly less, but they both gave us the same rate. neither of them alone had enough rooms available for us to block off as many as we will need, so we had to split between the two. people will probably be confused as to why we blocked rooms at both hotels if they are the same rate, but i did put on the website that the hotels are right across the street from each other....maybe i''ll just put a little blurb about how they are equal but neither had enough rooms available for the whole block we needed?

I don''t think you really have to mention why you reserved two hotels. Just pretend like you did it to give people a choice!

One thing to take into account is that when we tried to get group rates, the rates that could be got for the same hotels online were WAY cheaper (like, 25% cheaper) than what they offered us as a group rate. So you may want to hunt around online, and then casually advise guests to consider that route if it''s the same sort of situation.

We ended up not blocking off rooms at all for that reason. It just seemed like yet another wedding rip-off. It''s also low season, and our wedding is right downtown, so there wasn''t really any risk of guests not being able to find a place to stay.
