i dont use sparkpeople to track my eating so can't help you there...i use an excel spreadsheet, it's much easier for me. but in terms of workouts, i just played around with it and kept putting in diff #'s (there's a space in the profile where it says 'enter how many calories you burn per week if you know'..) and saw how it changed my calories and all that and adapted week to week on how i ate and worked out.

oh yeah and the fat intake they put in there is CRAZY in my opinion. mine is like 35-75. i am like who eats 75 grams of fat a day?! i think on a regular day i eat about 30-40. i don't count fat grams, since i count calories...and most stuff i eat if low in cals is typically not high in fat. so it works out. if we go out or i have something bad for me it's probably higher (aka yesterday with chicken pot pie it was more like 60) but it's way less on a daily basis. i try to keep fat intake fairly consistent.

Thanks Kimberly and Mara for the response. I''ve half way through my grocery list for today... so definitely picking up a few items for salad...

Mandarine - I record foods as I go along. But I suppose it''s easy for me cause I''m at this damn desk the whole frickin day. LOL..... And I doubt you would eat up to 74g of fat unless you were totally splurging... but I for me I would definitely stay under 50 or 55. Even 55 I think is just a tad high.

that makes sense. I just added my entire day and was still way lower on the fat intake!...I thought that was way too high!!!!!!

I think I''ll start out by using this to track it and then once I get a general idea of how much each thing is then I''ll switch over to a speradsheet. I''m pretty consistent in what I eat everyday so I think I just need to track it a month or so to get an idea of the calories I eat on a "normal" day.

I just did my measurements, and I''m not too happy. I don''t even want to post them here, but I will.

Bust: 34B
Arm: 10 in.
Waist: 29 in. (yuck)
Hip: 35 in.
Low waist: 34 in.
Thigh: 22 in.

Well, just as I thought, I collect all my weight in my stomach. It doesn''t even look like I have a waist right now. But now''s the time for improvement. My thighs have always been big, even at my skinniest, so I''m mainly going to concentrate on my waist. And now that I''ve humiliated myself, I think I''ll refrain from posting in this thread for the rest of this week.

This is an example of how I track...this is one day in my spreadsheet, today in fact.

Thursday
Fiber Cereal and Coffee 240
Tuna Salad Sandwich 235
Popcorn 100 Cal Pack 100
Balance 100 Bar 100
Jello Sugar Free Cup 10
Farfalle with Mushroom Sauce: CL & Salad 550
Jello Pudding Cup with Whipped Cream 100
Total 1335

Not sure how that will post but I just have two columns, I don't track anything but calories. Fat and fiber I track mentally, just to be sure I am not going over fat or under fiber. And I can eyeball the food aka fiber cereal and know that gives me X amount of fiber. Just from routine.

I start out the day by entering everything as you see above. What's for lunch, what's for dinner, dessert. Then I see a subtotal..and I can think okay that's a little low...I can add another 100 cal snack in if I want OR splurge on dessert and do 200 cals (aka 3/4 cup of ice cream). It just helps keep me kind of 'on track' mentally. At any given point in time I have 5 things I COULD be eating or snacking on which I like. I am desk bound as well during the day so having the 100 cal snacks is really good for me because I can have 2 of them and a banana and a 250 cal lunch and I am fine AND I feel really satisfied because I am eating all day long!

Anyway just a glimpse into how I do it, I've been doing this for a few months now. At first I used fitday.com to track which is a lot like sparkpeople and it helped me starting out to familiarize myself with counting calories and tracking. But now my spreadsheet is much faster, I can open it anytime and check it out, add something, subtract something...etc.

Oh and my current fave side salad for us for dinner:
--1 cup chopped fresh romaine lettuce: 10 cals
--1 tablespoon of parmesan shredded fresh cheese: ~30 cals
--8 whole wheat croutons: 45 cals
--1 tablespoon of Girard's light caesear dressing mixed with 1 tablespoon Emeril's Balsamic Vinaigrette: 60 cals
--1 tsp fresh ground pepper: 5 cals
Total calories: 150 cals

When I want just the crunchy taste of lettuce and some flavor with no extra cals, I eat just romaine and balsamic with a lot of extra pepper. I had this last nite, lettuce was 10 cals, the vinaigrette (emerils is the best i have found) was 30 cals, pepper was 5 cals, so it was a 45 cal salad...I ate it with my pot pie.

Oh coda good for you for posting measurements and do not be ashamed at all girl!!! The whole point here is to put it out there and fix it...so you know the waist bugs you, now you can work on it!!

Just read an on line article saying that gyms count on people dropping out after the January surge.

Let''s all count them WRONG!! If you''re paying a monthly fee...make sure that you''re getting your $$$ worth.

Make the "monthly fee" part of your "monthly savings account." It''s a win/win.

You''re "saving towards better health," "saving medical expenses down the road" and "saving for your future health."

It''s as good as a 401K (if not better). The dividends can be greater and the satisfaction of having a healthy body is immense

hey all!

happy new years
emstar.gif

I''m at work, so I have no idea about my measurements. however I do know that over the last year, I''ve lost 25 lbs!!! pretty nice to write down. i just had my body fat measured at it was 22%, which initially made me feel terrible, until i learned that''s a decent percentage.

my holidays were great. indulged in great food, but watched portions, ate reasonably on non-"great" food days and squeezed in a couple of workouts. so, no weight gained, but a very merry holiday season indeed.

traveling gal: i''ve decided to cut out alcohol for january, too. I brought up the idea to hubby in the last week of december. it seemed that we''d just been having gallons of wine and beer at that point. i''m motivated to: 1) detox; 2) eliminate some unnecessary calories; and 3) just see if i can do it. so far, so good
9.gif
however, i''m flying up to NY in two weeks to celebrate my grandma''s 90th birthday, so a toast might be appropriate! she''s amazing!!

mara: note about flax seed. i''m a fan too and hubby and i have been enjoying these tortilla chips from trader joe''s that are flax seed and seasame?? anyway, they look like they might be awful, but they are really quite tasty!

sevenwire: i love making my own salad dressing. just combine balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard, garlic, and a splash of olive oil. or shallots, or herbs, or lemon or really whatever you want. simple and delicious!

does anyone have an idea about calories for sushi? we are going out tomorrow night to such a delicious place tomorrow night. can''t wait!

Lovelylulu:

Definitely toast to your grandmother! My resolution is not total deprivation. If I am at a get together and someone opens a to-die for bottle of wine, I am allowing myself 2 oz just for taste. Otherwise I am staying away. Like you, I feel like I have been drinking nonstop since my wedding.."gallons"!
14.gif

I actually realized I am not a giant fan of alcohol with the exception of wine. I like the occasional beer, but I don't crave it. But I love love love the taste of wine...probably because I love food so much too.

ETA, My excel spreadsheet looks exactly like Mara's. It is the easiest way once you start to know how many calories your favorite foodstuffs are, and it's the fastest way to input, IMO.

welcome back lulu and congrats on your weight loss! that's so awesome. and 22% is great for BF!! i was at 22% 2 months ago and now i am at 20% ...so continuing with your program keeps paying off as more and more fat gets burned away.

as for calories in sushi...i have googled it a bunch of times..because i eat it fairly often. you can find stats on things like the raw fish aka tuna, salmon etc quite easily online. the rolls are a bit more confusing because no one makes the same type of rolls. and those are mostly what i eat. the jist seems to be that a 6 piece california roll (smaller pieces) is about 250-300 calories (depending on how much mayo they use i'd assume) and the more elaborate rolls are more. like a rainbow roll, 6 pieces, which has fish on it too typically i think is something like 450 cals. so if you eat elaborate rolls then estimate on the higher side. i typically share 2-3 fairly elaborate rolls with someone, so i have about 3 of each...so about 9 rolls total then a piece of salmon. no side of rice, or soup or anything. i get iced tea to drink. and we have edamame which i think is like 100 cals per serving. so i typically figure about 900 cals for a sushi dinner out typically. it's a splurge but at least it's healthy with all the fish!! the rice carries a lot of calories so if you want, ask them to not roll the outside of the rolls in rice, it will most likely cut back on calories dramatically. or sometimes i just do it wth some of my rolls so that i have some with rice and some without...like a little game. i love sushi...i think we are going to have it tomorrow night and i keep thinking about it!

here is one of the links i used to estimate my sushi intake but as you can see it's really generic. and the place i go to has fabulous rolls with all types of different things (mango, papaya, coconut) so it's hard to estimate but we don't get any fried rolls and i try to watch the avocado:

http://www.annecollins.com/calories/calories-sushi.htm

ooh found another good link with tips:

i try to watch the avocado

my absolute weakness! but at least it''s a "good" fat

hi guys!! i haven't checked in for a few days, and just got caught up on all the new posts on here. my measurements are A LOT bigger than all of yours so far. as embarrassing as they are to me i will probably post them late tonite when i get home to make myself even more accountable to this new committment. i am so ashamed to say it, but in just over a year i went from a size 9/10 to a whopping 16. i am not proud at all, and just pretty much disgusted with myself at this point. i never thought in my whole life i'd have 50+ pounds to loose. i did go through life changes, and there are many other contributing factors for the gain -but truly it is totally my fault for not doing one bit of exercise this whole time, and eating whatever i felt like eating: lots of pasta, bread and fast food galore, and huge portions of it too! it is disgusting!!

i have been on sparkpeople during all of my spare time. i have logged all my food intake since jan 1 and i'm totally staying within their recommendations for me, on the low side too! i am finally going to the gym tomorrow to get some cardio going. i plan to stretch for 10 minutes tonight before bed, and again in the morning before heading to the gym. i am so psyched about sp and feel really motivated to change my whole lifestyle on a more permanent basis. my goal is to make it there 5 days this week and get a routine going schedule wise. my bf wants to do a long walk in the evenings with our 2 black labbies, and try to get a walk in most days of the week. every little bit helps, and i'm sure they'll love us for it!!

i am a HUGE fan of sushi also, and when i diet i always get the sashimi platter. i eat the plain fish pieces guilt free, and they are delicious! then you only need like one fancy roll to splurge on and it fulfills the whole sushi craving, and you can still enjoy all your favorite pieces of fish. i adore salmon and all forms of tuna, especially white tuna & yellow tail.

i love the kashi go lean cereal and ate it last time when i attempted southbeach. it is actually really good, i even turned a coworker on to it. all the different textures really help, plus the taste is good. i'm definitely going to try mara's fiber one stuff and hope i can find it out there. tomorrow, if not saturday will be my big shopping day to stock up on healthy options for the week. i will go with list in hand and conquer the grocery store.

i got that vegannaise stuff rod recommended but i'm worried it was the wrong one. i compared the label to my lowfat hellmans and the vegannaise was much worse. my coworker who picked it up said there were two or three choices and he got the "best taste" one. i'm thinking this was a bad choice. i'm going to trek to wf and check it out myself. they should let me exchange i imagine.

i'm so glad you guys are calorie counting, exercising and keeping up all the hard work!! this thread is so helpful, i love everyone's tips and recipe recommendations -thank you for sharing!!

ps- lulu, i agree those flaxseed tortilla chips from trader joes are just amazing!

oh yeah, i almost forgot -where can i get flaxseed? i probably want to try the already ground version. is it healthfood stores only?

Just back from an hour at the gym. Did 30 minutes (300 calories) on the eliptical and 30 minutes (100 calories) on the treadmill -- with no shin pain at all! I don't know if it's all the stretching I've been doing the past several days, or the fact that I did the eliptical first so my shins were warmed up, or even that I was just doing the treamill at a slower pace that before (just 3 mph), but whatever the magic combination is I'm so glad!

I had a HUGE bowl of whole wheat past for breakfast (I really had no idea how much that tupperware container could hold!) the just a banana, apple and some grapes throughout the day. I had a 1 point weight watchers cake before I went to the gym and now I'm eating tuna (straight out of the can--I might be the only person in the world who actually LIKES it this way...). Based on all this I think even if I have a pice of whole wheat bread with margarine (which I *desperately* want right now!) I will still only be at 1210 cal. for the day.

Now my big dillema is what to do tomorrow. Of course I want to go back to the gym and burn off some serious calories, but I think I might be better off just doing what I did last night (leg lifts, push up, etc. at home). I have to keep reminding myself that the goal to work on being thin *for a lifetime* and not to hurt myself trying to do it all in the first month, LOL!

ETA: And I'm about to go make some sugar free jello and put it in 1 cup containers for easy snacking. Yum!

Went to the gym, and both of the ellipiticals were taken, so I did the treadmill about 20 minutes and then the elliptical opened up, so I did that for another 15 minutes.

When I got home, I did my strength training routine, about 1 hour''s worth. I know that I probably will have to lose some fat to see a lot of results, but I figure if I get bigger muscles underneath my flab, at least they''ll be waiting for me! I know from experience that plain cardio won''t make me toned...I have a very small frame and very little muscle mass.

Anyway, eating was pretty decent as well. I had a bowl of special K with milk for breakfast, a cup of tea when I got to work. Lunch was catered for us from a restaurant which is always difficult, because I can''t really control what I eat as much as when we get food from the cafeteria. I ate about 1/2 chicken breast with gravy (it was rolled over stuffing, but I didn''t eat that part). A small scoop (?1/4 cup) of smashed potatoes, and small scoop of eggplant parmesan. Obviously, those things were probably packed with butter, cheese, fat and calories, so I tried to be super conscious of my portion size. Then I filled the rest of my plate with salad. And I skipped these delicious-looking peanut butter brownie things, but I told myself there was probably like 800 calories in each. For dinner, I had a box of Trader Joe''s chicken shu-mai. I steamed them in my rice machine, which was super easy. And the whole box was like 500 calories, and it looked like a pretty big portion and was filling.

Just got in my 3rd workout of the week. After 30 minutes on the treadmill at a slight incline my lower back was aching, but I was able to stretch it out. I''m a-ok now!

I find them at my regular grocery store...There usually next to either the organic section or where the "health foods" are (shakes, bars, etc)....I''ve also found them in some grocery stores next to the flour/baking section!. Besides the regular grocery store I find them at Super Target!!! yep, believe it or not!. I think they sell the organic ground flax seeds for something like $4.50/bag...which is pretty decent. Some places sell this stuff REALLY expensive and it''s all the same!. If you buy the ground just make sure that in the ingredients they specify that it contains ground flax seeds ONLY...some bags I''ve seen mix the flax seeds with other things.

I went to the gym and did a step/toning class....I about died!!! this instructor loves using those bands around your feet to work on the lower area...after about 5 minutes I thought my butt (sorry!) was going to fall off!!!!! hehe..

Good night everyone!!!

Well, I sure hope your words of wisdom applies to all who grace this thread, but MAN OH MAN, if I see one more "newbie" running around the gym with their nice little yellow piece of paper which guides them through a sort of planned workout and they hog up the machines not having a clue what they're doing.........
29.gif
29.gif
23.gif
I know, I was a 'newbie' once myself, but I never sat at a machine and tied it up for like 10 minutes betwen sets of reps and they just sit there while people are waiting. When we joined our gym in Florida over a year ago, they took us through an orientation and helped us understand 'gym etiquette.' They told us to carry a towel and wipe off the machine when we're finished. They told us if it was crowded to limit sets to two per machine to give other's an opportunity. Obviously, these new folks didn't get this lesson. So, while I hope all my PS friends keep it going, I'm personally looking forward to the drop off of "newbies" at our gym in Raleigh soon!!

On the breakfast front, I have a bowl of fresh berries with sliced banana and a high fiber cereal with fat free milk. My newest cereal find is called Organic Flax Plus from Natures Path. It's a multibran cereal with 7g of fiber per serving and with the Flax, it includes 500 mg of Omega-3 Fatty Acids per serving. Plus a serving size is only 100 calories (140 with skim milk).

Mandarine: YEAH YEAH YEAH on the not smoking. I was a big smoker for way too many years. I've been absolutely smoke free since 2005 and I will never go back. If I was able to handle the loss of my job, the job search, the move to a new city in a new state and the almost loss of our precious Burmese cat without smoking, I just don't need to ever do it again. Besides, when I'm pushing 12 mph on the elliptical for 45 non-stop minutes I realize I'm doing something I could never have done as a smoker.

Loreleie: I'm still so proud of you for keeping away from the evil weed. I have four employees on my staff who smoke. When they come in my office and ask a question, or I stop by their office and they've just come in from smoking, I realize how grateful I am to not smell that awful anymore.

I worked pretty late tonight and actually toyed with the idea of not working out. But that voice in my head kicked in and I realized I had to go the gym anyway. That's why I wrote about the newbies above. There were so many new members tonight that it was rather frustrating to get to any machines and this gym is ultra huge. Last January in Tampa, the same thing happened and you can actually look at some of these people and predict how many visits it will take before they give up. They're the ones who sit there forever between sets. They're the ones who look totally bored while doing a set. And they're the ones who don't sweat. Not sweating is to me an absolute indication of not pushing oneself and in order to accomplish something in the gym, I believe you HAVE to sweat!! But, I worked out none-the-less and managed to include a full and complete set, plus the elliptical. I just got home after 9:30 and had dinner later than I like to have dinner.

Tomorrow if Friday!! And for those of you who know us, we take Friday's off and have Sushi for dinner. I don't care to know how many calories in sushi period. I love it. I know it's pretty healthy and after eating sushi almost three times a week for the last 1.5 years, I know you can have sushi and lose plenty of weight. I sure did.

I've dronned on long enough. It's great to see so many new people on the thread this year. It's fantastic to know we've helped anyone take their life in a more healthy direction. Please stick around. Don't any of you have any guy friends who might enjoy contributing. Jeff and I are the only two men here. Not that we don't get inspiration from you lovely ladies, but it would be nice to have a few more male perspectives too.

Anway......Cheers to everyone!!!

Well Hey There Belle!!! I''ve been around, but just primarily on the fitness thread. As you saw from my post, it''s been a tough year, but we survived and started new lives in a new state. 2007 is going to be a good year for us. Once our condo in Tampa sells, we''ll be able to completely transition our life and all four of us, me, Charlie and our two cats (Koh and Sakai) will be quite happy up here. It''s good to see you and I miss spending more time on RockyTalky. Thanks for saying Hi!!!!
35.gif

rod -i''m sorry but i don''t know if you saw my post above regarding the vegenaise. i was hoping you could chime in so i can be sure to get the right stuff.

my jar say "vegenaise -dressing & sandwich spread" in a yellow box. a blue ribbon to the right says "best taste" and on top says "follow your heart". it shows 90 cals and 9 grams of fat for 1 tbsp, which seems pretty bad to me -even worse than the low fat regular mayo...

that sounds like the right thing dani. i remember rod saying that it had some fat in it...but overall was better than mayo. gotta say though i am pretty pleased with the 'light' mayo from best foods. it's not the low fat version, but it's light. it's 45 cals and 4g of fat for 1 tbl. i don't eat mayo that often actually, mostly just tuna salad...but it's good to know if i have to make an aoili or something that i am not stuck with regular mayo. also i make a really great artichoke dip and it has a fair amount of mayo, i already use lowfat sour cream, and parm is good for calories and fat....so now i can sub the light mayo too which is awesome since regular mayo is sooo bad! hehee.

i was feeling SOOO snacky today...i don't know why. lunch was my tuna salad on 2 pieces of the 45 cal bread which was actually quite good. then i had a 100 cal balance bar which was good but didn't really hit the spot. so then i had a 100 cal popcorn bag. then i had 4 red vines, yikes!! i love those things...haha. they are fat free but 140 cals for 4. so definitely an empty calorie kinda snack. but i love em and always have. so after that i told my coworker, we need to go for a walk!! so we went over to starbucks and i got a tall green iced tea, no sweetener. so i managed to stave off any more snacking with the green tea thank goodness. then went to workout, burned 515 calories. dinner was this really yummy recipe from cooking light, farfalle pasta with creamy wild mushroom sauce. it's basically a white wine and cream sauce with onions and garlic. we had some leftover shredded turkey breast from new years so i added that for a bit of extra portein. and we used penne instead of farfalle, the dreamfields version with extra fiber and less sugar. it tastes just like regular pasta but has more positive things for the body. i think i had more than 1 serving, hehee...but greg had the rest. we figure i had about 1.5 servings and he had about 2.5 for a total of 4. i halved the recipe. and then we also had basic salads. dessert was a 10 cal jello cup (they have a really yummy kiwi raspberry one that i loveeeee!) with some whipped cream.

so overall i did fine today for eating...which is good...but i still feel kind of snacky. i don't know why. it's TTOTM but typically i don't feel this snacky. weird.

on a positive random note, the scale at the gym said i lost 2.5 lbs since tuesday. totally random. we'll see if tomorrow it still says that. typically the scale doesn't move for me unless it stays close, so i am really interested to see if it stays there.

anyway rod i hear ya on the sushi. we are having it tomorrow night too and i keep thinking about it. YUMMY. have a great night everyone!!!

Ok so you all have pulled me into this online commuity of diamond lovers and now weigh loss lovers. I want to lose 6 kgs and have been well on way until the holidays where I have put some weight back on. I have a Precor elliptical trainer and this thing is awesome. Its pricey but it sits in our rumpus room and I use it most days at 530in the morning . The best thing is my heart rate has gone way down and so has my BP (not that it was high but it may have been an isssue in a few years as I had high BP when I was on the OC years ago). Now I am really happy that I am getting "healthy in the heart" but alas that has not equated to dramatic weightloss and so I must start to watch I am eating.
I do Pilates with an instructor x2 a week and again my body has never felt better and so painfree but I don''t ''see'' the long muscle definition because of my excess weight.
I have always been a size 4 to 6 but in the last year it has creeped up to a 8 and maybe a 10 at times. I come from a family of genetic ''thin'' people but I think that there comes a time when after 45 if you enjoy delicous foods and wine the pounds pile on.
I always have a flaxseed meal (this is an organic light blend of flaxseed that i sort of like bran flakes) protein powder biodynamic fat free yoghurt and blueberries for breakfast and have done so for the last 3 years. Its quick delicoous and full great antioxidants + it fills me up till lunch time. Lunch is sushi or salmon and salad and dinner is usually fish chickern or steak with salad. My downfall is the chardonnay and the nibbles. I love cheese in particualr and nuts such as macademias.
I know I need to give up my beloved wine but I won''t. I have detoxed for a month last year and did''nt lose a pound but felt fantastic.
I wish there was some ''magic'' potion but we all now the basic premise is you need expend more energy than you take in. If ther are any wine lovers out there that have got some tips let me know.
Also I cant get on sparkpeople my browser says theres a problem connecting anyone else have this problem?

Miss Belle - you could NEVER intrude!

Coda you look GREAT in your pic and you and your Husband make such a good looking couple! Thanks for sharing the pic with us

I did another hour cardio last night and I am doubly grateful that I have a home gym. Not being the most patient person in the world, I don't think I could deal very graciously with newbies hogging machines without actually using them

Grrrrr...Give it till the end of the month Rod, and I bet those newbies start thinning out a lot!

Congrats on the 2.5 pounds Dee AWESOME!!!!

Great post Jeff - we are investing in something very precious with each workout and healthy choice....

I wanted to say too - if we DO have any lurking guys out there who would like to join in and give Jeff and Rod some company, please do - you are more than welcome! Even if you aren't working out yet but would like to, or need some encouragement, we hope to hear from you!

Thank you, TG and Lorelei, for the kind words. I know I have a lot of work to do to get back to where I want to be. Hopefully by the time April rolls around I will have dropped some weight in preparation for marathon training. I know what it''s going to take, and I''m ready to commit to the path.

I''m going to do my last workout of the week tonight, then I''ll do 2 next week before leaving for Hawaii. I hope to still do 3 workouts a week on vacation. It''ll be nice to run outside again.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

I was very good (for me) at Berryhill last night. I took a short nap when I got home so I was still sleepy when we went to dinner...I decided not to get a margarita (I even left my purse at home so I wouldn''t have my ID), b/c I knew it would make me even more tired and we had some episodes of 24 to watch (trying to finish season 5 before 6 starts).

At berryhill I used to always get a small queso (which is at least a cups worth) and a chicken enchilada, plus I had to have some chips (a lot) to eat the queso with. Last night DH and I shared a small basket of chips and I had salsa (theirs is so fresh and yummy), and got an order of fajitas that they refer to as the Adkins plate--corn tortillas (3), chicken, peppers & onions, pico de gallo, and a tiny side of queso (~1/8 cup). I did steal a few bites of black beans and rice from DHs plate. But on the whole I was very good.

Hey everyone! I'm happy to report that my knees feel great this morning and I have just the *slightest* tightness in my left shin, so all is good with the world, LOL.

Just had 1/2 cup oatmeal for breakfast. Decided to skip the decaf with whole milk this morning because the line at Starbucks was ridiculously long and I was already a little late. For lunch I'm having Progresso fat free ministrone (only 100 calories and 2 grams of fat for the entire can!) and I've got a banana for later.

Who knows what dinner will bring... Either the happy hubby will cook something or we'll most likely go out, but I will continue to be good in either event.

I'm not going to work out at the gym tonight but I'll do stuff at home. And tomorrow I'll try another 30 (or maybe 40 mins) on the eliptical and another 30 mins of walking. I would love to get to the point that I can do one or the other for an hour almost every day (schedule permittig).

BTW, it's a good thing the happy hubby is such a good cook or I would have indeed starved to death by now. The jello I made last night DIDN'T GEL. Now who could screw up jello?!?

(Me -- obviously!)

Sorry about your Jello Dee!

I find 45 mins to an hour of cardio split into half and half thereabouts with the ellip and treadmill to be plenty per day. I aim now to burn 700 cals per hour session and seem to manage 300 with half an hour on the treadmill and about 400 half an hour on the elliptical. Keep it up girl, you are doing so well!

Thanks Lorelei--you're always so encouraging!

(I really *was* looking forward to that jello though, LOL.)

Thanks Dee! Make sure your water is boiling hot to dissolve the Jello crystals before you add the cold water and let the crystals sit in the very hot water for a couple of mins and stir. That might be the reason your Jello didn''t set! I am partial to a bit of sugar free Jello myself...
