Morning All,

Stephanie, I don''t think the scale is broken, salt can definitely do that to you. It''s really crazy!

So we ended up having Chinese for dinner and I''m feeling like Stephanie''s scale made her feel yesterday...BLOATED! Too much salt. I am not a fan of Chinese, but John was craving it. I had a few spring rolls, two spoonfuls of Hso Chicken and a tiny helping of crispy beef.

I''m working at a school I''ve never been to today and tomorrow. Should be interesting. I plan on working out this afternoon.

Have a great day.

Sharon, wow, snow! Post pics for us if you can. hehe Yay for biking and weights. How is the knee?
HI:

MIss Skippy: Maybe I''ll take some pics this weekend--we are predicted to get more, and with low temps of -27! YEOW!!

I''ll finish watching Spiderman 3 while on the bike and the rest of my routine today. My knee is not 100%, so I''ll take it easy. I''ll walk the mall today as I have Santa''s Anonymous gifts I bought to drop off there.

I am craving champagne--will have some with dinner tonight (since there is no school tomorrow.....)

Enjoy your day and workout''s folks!!

cheers--Sharon

So following my engagement in August I posted about wanting to start to eat better and get in shape for my wedding (date now 5/29/09). FI and I are giong on a cruise in a few weeks and last night I was trying on dresses for him so he could pick out one (I have a TON of cocktail dresses). So I figured I''d try them all on to see which ones fit and which ones were hopeless, and I discovered several which I haven''t been able to wear in years, fitting perfectly! Now, I haven''t weighed myself in about six months, but Fi has commented on my butt disappearing and overall looking like i was losing some weight. So I got on the scale last night to confirm. I''ve actually lost 15-20lbs! I''m at 154 lbs now, down from 170-175. I had to weigh myself a few times to confirm that I wasn''t seeing things. YAY! I love when I can see quantitative results, they''re so encouraging...

I just wanted to say good luck to everyone and best wishes for continued success for all of us!

afternoon all!! had a fairly stressful work morning so i decided to go to get some tart natural yogurt for lunch, found a place kind of near work, 10 min drive that just opened a few months ago. it's not quite as tart as this other place from last nite so i don't like it as much, but it's still good. got blueberries, strawberries, kiwi again. so this is my lunch, or kind of part of it as i also have stuffing and turkey breast that i will eat in a few hours before i head off to see my cousin's new baby at the hospital, then go to the trainer! hope everyone is having a great day.

hudson, yay for weight loss! sharon, enjoy your champagne! ebree, because your hubby is veggie, does that mean you don't eat meat either? that would so not work for me, i am such a meat lover, even white healthy meats, anything! steph, yay for no more bloating, sometimes i do feel like my rings are tighter and then literally later that afternoon they will be spinning and clinking like CRAZY. it's so funny how our bodies work.

Hi all! It is cloudy, cold and rainy
face5.gif
; I think today will be my day off from working out.

Last night I made this great stirfry from TJ''s; it is the veggie stirfry w/sprouts, peas, carrots and other yummy veggies. I added shrimp and TJ''s Island Teriyaki; yummmmm! I made it again for lunch!
18.gif
Last night we went to the grocery store and I was craving desserst so we bought the TJ''s chocolate dipped macaroon''s; I ate 1 and had hubby take the rest to work.

Mara, hope it get''s less stressful.

Hudson, yay on the weight loss!

Marcy, you are missed; hope you are feeling better.

Rod, don''t work too hard!

Sharon sorry about the knee, hope it gets better soon.

Happy Thursday all and sorry for the typo''s!!!!

ebree, because your hubby is veggie, does that mean you don't eat meat either? that would so not work for me, i am such a meat lover, even white healthy meats, anything!

I still eat meat, just not at home, so I don't get it as much. When we go out, I usually try to have some chicken and sometimes I'll grab a burger, but we eat pretty veggie around the house and most of the time, vegan.

Hey, guys...well, I started out the day eating really well...I had my usual cereal w/ banana. Then for lunch, I had leftover Weight Watchers taco soup and the only snack I ate was a sting cheese. Well, I cleaned my house all day long, and I was too exhausted to feel like cooking, so I suggested that we go out to our fave Italian place for a pizza. I usually only eat 1 slice and no bread, but I let myself get to the point of starving and I had a garlic roll and 2 slices of pizza. Oh well, I''ll do better tomorrow!
Speaking of tomorrow...it is our offical 5 year anniversary tomorrow. We celebrated while we were in Atlanta over Thanksgiving since we had babysitters, and that is when I got my ring upgrade, so I didn''t think we were doing anything tomorrow, except I was going to bake him his fave cupcakes...well, while we were at dinner, Adam tells me
"When you wake up tomorrow, you will have directions printed out to follow for the day. I''m not going to tell you what we''re doing, just follow what''s on the list and you will see what is waiting for you." So I have absolutely no idea what he''s up to but I am excited! Anyway, I will report back later! Hope everyone is having a great day!

hi all.

today i got to eat my boca breakfast wraps that i love so much. for lunch, i had a turkey sub from subway and some chips (i don''t get them often but when i do, i love my chips!). dinner was cottage cheese and a baked potato with black beans and a little 2% cheese. i also tried the new 3 musketeers mint bars (Dark chocolate with a minty fluff filling). they were actually pretty good, sort of like a junior mint or york PP patty. so i got my chocolate fix for the day.

mara: the ruby''s minis are like 517 cals with the mayo - which i didn''t get. i just got the half portion so if you got all 4 they would def be over 1000 cals! scary how easy it is to get something that looks ok and find out that they are really awful for you!

HH: wow on the 15 lbs weight loss!!! that is awesome
36.gif

skippy: love the xmas avatar! so cute.

i also saw this recipe in Fitness magazine that i''m going to try. you take a jar of caramel ice cream topping (smuckers sells sugar free for less cals), 1/2 c peanut butter, 1/2 c water, and 2.5 lbs of granny smith or baking apples cut into chunks. you stir the ingredients together to coat the apples and dump them in the crock pot on low for 3-4 hours and serve it up alone or with vanilla ice cream/frozen yogurt. sounds good to me!

worked out 60 minutes tonite....elliptical and bike. the usual exciting mix.

tomorrow we are trying this famous cajun restaurant down the road from my house for dinner. it''s tucked away on a back road and has been around forever but we never knew exactly where it was. so we did a drive by to find it tonite and it was really tucked away with a faded sign and barely any markings on this old country road. very random location. but everyone says how great it is. i''m sure that will NOT be a healthy meal, but i really want to try it anyway and it''s the weekend so why not??? i love red beans and rice and they have this sampler that includes that with some othjer cajun fare so we will probably split that.

i have enough cals left in the "bank" today for a glass of wine, so i''m going to go have one and finish my christmas window decorations....i''m sure my HOA will love my Clark W. Griswald inspired light show in the windows....hehehe.

hey guys, I''m still around - just busy. I am getting really frustrated to have hit another plateau - although my progress is so slow it is really hard to tell. I have been taking some classes at the gym every day this week and eating well. Today I had special k w/ skim and coffee w/ skim for bkfst, a mini burrito (black bean) for lunch, a small ff froz yogurt for a snack, a banana and cut up raw veggies for another snack, small portion of stir fry tofu w/ veggies for dinner, and one chocolate for dessert (someone brought them - they are really good - and I have been super at rationing them!). I have stopped doing my online calorie tracking b/c I was always coming in range and it was taking too long, but maybe I will resume next week just to be sure I''m still on track. Keeps me honest. In my class tonight (a hybrid kickboxing and sculpting) there were some skinny people who kept whining and having to stop, and there I was - wearing my half marathon t shirt - the fattest person in the class, using the heaviest weights, doing pushups on my hands and feet not knees, and generally powering through... why am I still 20 lb overweight? I did wear some size 14 pants that I bought last year or the year before and they were huge on me... it was a good feeling to know that I HAVE made some progress even though it is painfully slow.

Hey all,

I am still around two and I dropped another two pounds. Maybe it was from the flu, but it has stayed off. HA!!

Mara: Do you think when you have time you could post your turkey pot pie recipe??? I would love to make those.

Sharon: Hope your knee is better. There is nothing worse than a sore knee.

Rod: How are you and Charlie?

Skippy: Stir fry sounds yummmmy. Love them.

I''ll check in again later.

Linda

So today was just a terrible day to say the least. Our company is not doing well and our stock keeps slipping, so after 4 days of super secret bigwig meetings at corporate (no I''m not a bigwig), I got a call from my boss telling me I had to lay off the three interns. It really upset me to have to let three bright, terrific hard working people go one month before Christmas. So, of course I see the writing on the wall. Over the last few years, the company''s only response to poor profits has been to lay off the workers. Of course senior management is never touched, just the people who actually do things. They said I was not in danger, but I don''t buy that after being laid off from this company just a year ago, so this time, I won''t believe them and will start a new job search. I''m surprisingly calm about this. Having been laid off a year ago toughened me up a bit, so I just refuse to lose too much sleep over this. It is after all, Just A Job...........And now I have something new to look forward to. But, I assure you, it will be in Tampa. I''m not making the same mistake we did last year, which was to jump at the first opportunity that came my way and we moved to Raleigh. Nope, not going to do that again!

Charlie (we work together and have for the last 16 years) was just not in the mood to workout after the layoffs, so he came home and drank a few glasses of wine. I REALLY needed the gym tonight, so I went and had a really good workout.

Sorry, for not addressing anyone directy tonight. Am just not up to it. I hope your day was a bit better than mine..........

At least tomorrow''s Friday and Sushi night!

Ps: Sorry for being Rod Downer......
7.gif

Oh Rod, you poor thing! I hate to see you have to go through this after all the trauma/drama of last year. Charlie had the right idea--now that you're home from the gym trot yourself right into the kitchen and see if there's any wine left in that bottle. Big hugs.

Nothing good food or workout wise to report on my end so I'm slinking off into the corner...

Rod, I''m really sorry to hear about your day
7.gif
I think your attitude is great though - maybe you will find something even better.

Thanks DeeJay and Gail! Maybe this will finally push me to do something completely different this time around. Hmmmmmm, I could still go sell bling at Mayors! I''m just not sure I want a retail life at this time in my life. But, it''s an option and that''s what life''s all about.......Options!

ROD,
I agree /w Gail! I am sorry that happened to you and the three people and I wish you strength during this stressful time; you deserve the best so I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

ETA: Rod, if you didn't have a huge heart today would have been easy but you are a wonderful guy and it shows. You are right about the options, big hug for a super tough day!

Thanks Skippy.......Nothing has happened to me or Charlie yet, so that''s good. At least we''re likely to have jobs through the holidays. But, come January 1st, I''m not so sure..........At least this time I know it''s time to look as opposed to last year when I had absolutely no clue I might be laid off. Oh, such is life......

Rod,

Yes you do deserve the best and you will find it.

I have never understood why companies always have to lay off people right before Christmas. That happened to my hubby when we first married. You would think they would do it during the summer.

Linda

Rod,
Yes, that really stinks about the interns. Have you already broken the news to them and how did it go? I was once laid off around thanksgiving (well, technically I resigned, but I didn''t have much choice - I''ll save you the details) and it was actually a fairly fun time of year to be off work - but really stressful too. Fortunately I found something I liked much better right after the new year. I hope the interns will too. Were they expecting to be employed just through the end of the semester or indefinitely? I''m sure they understand that even though you were the one to break it to them, it wasn''t your decision.

Rod,

You and Charlie come on out to California and stay with us for awhile!! We can go visit Lake Tahoe and have a grand old time.

Evening WWTr''s! I had a good, busy day, but no workout...I worked from noon to 7 today and I was really wanting to get up early this morning and work out but my body decided it wanted to lounge around in bed instead.
11.gif
I didn''t get home tonight until around 8 and the body was saying "no" to working out and "yes" to being a couch potato...so I''m thinking tomorrow after work I need to kick the body in the booty and MAKE it work out, hee hee!

I was just reading through the 3rd page of this thread and noticed the Chinese food/water retention comments...coincidentally, a gal came into the store yesterday to have a ring sized and she was telling me the ring in question typically fits on on her middle finger but not her ring finger where she''d rather wear it, but then she tried to put it on her middle finger and it would not go on at all, she ended up saying that she''d had Chinese for dinner last night and had felt totally bloated ever since! Since she was picking up another repair type thing next week we decided we''d size her finger when she came back instead. I think there''s definitely merit in the Chinese-food-causing-water-retention argument!

My weight is still right around 150-152 most days, which is great because that was previously my goal weight. However, I know I need to really work on strength training and toning. I can tell I''ve lost some muscle mass due to not working out as heavily and losing weight as a result of just consuming far fewer cals and being on my feet all day since I started my new job. I am STILL in between sizes, I swear this is my downfall in the weight loss experience...today my issue was that my super cute black tights with a diamond pattern from JC were falling down all day. I have to get them in a M/L so they are long enough, but I really need the S/M size so they are "tight" enough to not fall down! Sheesh! I feel like I always have some wardrobe imperfection and it drives me insane. I can''t think of really one single outfit I own that fits perfectly top to bottom. Oh! and yesterday, my stretchy tall black boots were falling down because my calves have gotten smaller! It was just as annoying as my tights falling down today. Wow, I am way too into bit*hing about my clothes/shoes falling down. Off my rant, sorry.

Hi everyone. I made it to minus 136 pounds today. Woo hoo! I wore my size 12 jeans to work today; how fun for me. My cold is better; I did have a bowl of chicken soup last night and I don’t know that it helped but it sure tasted good.
Sorry I didn’t post last night; after school my mom took me shopping to pick out a few clothes for me for Christmas.
Skippy, I hope your triceps aren’t too sore. Yay for a great workout. My mom told me about the Oprah show but I didn’t get to watch it. Sorry to hear the weather is pants for you. Thanks for missing me; I missed reading and posting last night.
CrownJewel, I agree that diamond studs are as good for you as chicken soup. I had my new ring on for a few hours but had to give it to DH when I showed it to him. Rats. I didn’t even get a picture of it first; I''ll have to wait till Christmas now.
Monnie, I’m glad you had a nice workout. It’s a good thing your clothes are big but I agree it’s annoying.
Kimi, I’m glad your hair turned out cute. I want to get a hair cut like Christina Applegate has on Samantha Who. My sides need to grow a bit then I can get a perm. It will take me awhile though. Sorry to hear your hair stylist is moving. I hope you sleep well tonight. I will be anxious to hear about your nephew’s first day at preschool.
Rod, good job being the energizer bunny at the gym. Sorry to hear the bad news about your company and lay offs. Good idea to start looking around for something else.
Mara, I am glad my cold seems to be better. I found 100 calorie packs of dry roasted almonds. I took some with me to work. I am pretty much done with Christmas shopping except some things for my husband and a few gift cards. I hope your cousin and new baby are doing great. How exciting. We are spending Christmas with my family on the 23rd then are having my parents and DH’s grandmother over for dinner on Christmas.
Lorelei, yay for your tightest jeans fitting great.
Steph, wow that is some fluctuation – 7 pounds in one day. It probably was water if your rings were tight. I am glad to hear it went away for you so quickly. Oooh a mystery and a surprise for your anniversary; how fun. I can’t wait to hear about it.
Shortblonde, congratulations on the great comments you received on Thanksgiving. I’ve been thinking of baking cc cookies and taking them to work. The grocery store has all sorts of new baking chips that looked good – even little PB cups. I hope your cold gets better soon.
Sharon, glad to hear there is no more snow shoveling. We still have ice around but most of the snow has melted here.
Jas, I’m sorry you had such a hard time looking for the car title. I’m glad your husband figured out where it was. It sounds like you are slowly getting better. When are you going back to school? I hope the stairs won’t bother you. Do they have an elevator you can use? Your description of your bruises made me laugh. That’s great you’ll come out good on the insurance.
Kayak, I can so sympathize with you about the last minute party. My husband often has office parties either here or at one of his supervisor’s house and their lack of planning on them drives me CRAZY. They never plan a menu, figure out who is bringing what or set a time to eat.
Lindsey, it sounds like you are making wise choices for your calories. I find I can eat really well and even have a treat with my calorie limit.
Tdiddy, how excited to officially book your wedding date and site. What date did you pick? I’m glad you had a nice walk this evening. Thanks for the recipe for the ice cream topping.
EBree, what is your calorie range? I get really hungry if I don’t eat enough and also I loose weight better at 1200 to 1400 calories than around 1000 calories.
Hudson, yay for loosing so much weight. That is wonderful and how cool your dresses fit great. Have fun on your cruise.
TanDogMom, woo hoo for your pants being huge on you. That is wonderful. Yay for kicking butt in your exercise class.
Linda, congratulations for loosing 2 pounds. I like the Santa hat on your pad.
I love seeing all these posts. Tomorrow is Friday. Finally. I get my new washer / dryer Saturday and hope to put up our Christmas tree this weekend.
Take care and sweet dreams.

Yay, Marcy you are down 136 pounds. Good for you. We are sooooo proud of you.

There is nothing like a brand new washer and dryer.

Linda

Marcy, congrats on the 136 lbs lost! I know I tell you all the time how proud I am of you, but I just wanted to say it again.

I remember just a few months ago you were right at 100 lbs lost, and that was when you had just joined the WWT! You're amazing, keep up the great work!

ETA: Lorelei, congrats on two years of non-smoking!!!! I'm heading into my 9th month of not smoking with only a couple very minor slip-ups which I recovered from very quickly. And I'm happy to report my very best friend just quit using chantix (sp?) last month, and my other good friend quit the same time cold turkey. Now...if I can just get my hubby to quit my entire life, socially and family-wise, will be smoke-free.

Hey, guys...just a quick check in this morning...hope everyone is doing well. So, this morning when I woke up, Adam told me to take the dog into the vet to be boarded when they open, and to come home and pack for the weekend! He said pack swimsuits and a couple of dresses:) I am so excited. He still won''t give it up as to where we are going, so I will have to let you guys know when we get back. He is working a 1/2 day and then we are off! I am going to try to eat well, but traveling and weightloss don''t seem to go hand in hand:) Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful weekend
