First of all, I like any of these way WAY better than that David's dress, now that I see these on you. That said, I think the Tallulah is perfect on your bod, and it's a very VERY pretty dress. You look lovely in it. I'm not keen on the Dora, and the Carrie just does nothing for you with that ruffly stuff, sorry...! But the Tallulah is just so pretty. But 86 that silver sash for a wider, longer, sweeping satin sash, perhaps in champagne or something, with a gorgeous vintagy brooch in the middle of the sash!

I think the Carrie looks amazing on you! I prefer it to all the others.

I''m in the minority. I don''t like the Carrie much.

I''m voting Talllulah ALL THE WAY!

I vote Tallulah. The Carrie is gorgeous, but it looks a little unflattering up top... maybe just a sizing issue? The Dora is nicer with the modesty panel (or whatver it''s called) but is still not totally blowing me away.

Unless you''re 100% sold on one of these, and if you are now considering a higher end dress, how about visiting a few more shops before making a decision? Saks? Neiman? Ultimate Bride?

OK, I''m not helping, am I!

Even though we now know you love the Carrie, I''m still going to have to go ahead and vote for Tallulah. You look absolutely stunning in it. I agree with the others though, perhaps it''s just a sizing issue with Carrie. I''m glad you got a chance to try on the Dora and see for yourself

. Otherwise you always would have wondered what if...

Another vote for Tallulah! It looks fabulous on you!!

Are you short waisted? I am, extremely, and I know the trumpet/mermaid/whatever it is - shapes of Dora, Lia, Ellie...etc. are not flattering at all on me.
IMHO, while they are beautiful dresses, I don''t think they flatter your figure.

I like the Talulah best too!! It's the ruffles on the top of the Carrie that are throwing me off. I also like the fabric of the Talulah better than the shiny material of the Carrie, but it could just be the lighting. I agree also on a different sash for the Talulah.

Also, what's with the PoB people making the sash on the Dora so skinny?? I think the pictures would have looked way better if it was spread out a bit and wrapped around your waist a few more times. However, I don't think it's doing much for your bust region.

I actually really love the Lia on you too, it really makes you look super-thin and accentuates your bust without making it the ONLY thing I see when I look at your pictures. Actually, Lia is my favorite, but I know you may not want to wear it since it's been so popular on here! But, remember that your guests will be almost guaranteed to never have seen it on another bride. I find that beingn part of this Bridal Community (the Knot, Brides, PS) distorts my views a little sometimes. Just because everyone is doing something, like strapless dresses, pocketfold invites, candy buffets, or Lia, doesn't mean your guests will know everyone is doing it! And usually everyone is doing it because it's a great idea!!

Did you try on any of the actually PoB dresses? As in not Melissa Sweet? I think they have some super nice dresses too. Also for some reason I'm thinking you are on the east coast, and I absolutely LOVED the dresses at Amsale and it was a great experience going there. Also, maybe Mark Ingram or Wedding Atelier? They have some different designers....

Can't wait to see what you decide!

Maybe the Tallulah was one of thoes meant to be things? It looks amazing on you. It''s my favorite.

Oh boy, so many votes my head is spinning! I love it, though, so thank you! I''m going to try to answer everyone''s questions and comments . . .

I totally see what everyone is saying about the bust of the Carrie, I think it looks weird for two reasons--1) I couldn''t zip the dress up past the middle of my back so the bust was very loose, and the sample was kind of, um, wilted, so the ruffled part of the fabric was hanging about a half inch from the rest of the dress, which made it balloon out. If it was tight against the dress would it be better? I''m not liking the big look, either.

I''m shocked that so many people like the Tallulah! I liked it, but only took pictures because it''s called Tallulah like my sweet baby girl.

I have only shopped at POB and DB so far, so I am definitely not going to buy a dress until I shop at a few more salons (thank you for the references, Indy! I''m going to check out White Chicago tomorrow, too.). I have an appointment for a sample sale at a place called A''Lamour which I''ve been to with my friends when they were trying on dresses, very nice, they have a lot of high cost gowns there so I''ll have something to compare.

I know what you mean about comparing the DB dress to these--I had no idea that dress wasn''t very flattering! I think I was stuck on the fact that it made my waist look so tiny, and the fact that it was the ONLY dress I loved (or even liked) after trying on several gowns. And I agree about the sash on the Tallulah, I don''t know why she chose a thin one, I would definitely use a larger sash.

I''m actually very long-waisted, Lauraloo, so perhaps that''s why the short-waisted gowns don''t look right on me? I''m not sure what would fit me better with such a long torso, but it''s funny that everyone made comments about the short-waisted dresses not looking right, I''m guessing it''s because I''m not short-waisted. In fact, they provided one of those bras with the stomach panels for me to use, but the lady helping me kept pulling it down so the clips in the back would hit me right at the small of my back, but then the front of the bra was FAR to low to do anything for my bust. She insisted that I wear it that low, though, so I''m not sure how one of those bras is going to help me! Anyway . . .

Kara--I was bummed about the sash on the Dora at PoB, to be honest that sample gown was in tatters! The sash was so crumpled up, it looked like it had the life beaten out of it, poor thing! You know, I was so bummed about passing up on their sample sale because I thought I had another dress, but after seeing their samples my mother said "Well, if these are the samples I can''t imagine you''d ever want to buy one." They were in horrible shape, the hems were all frayed, the sashes withered, those samples have been well-worn.

I know what you''re saying about my impression of the popularity of the Lia being skewed because I see so many of them on bridal forums. I sent the pictures to my two best friends, one of them LOVES the Lia, the other LOVES the Carrie, so we''ll see. I have to try on many more dresses before I make a decision, I think.

I didn''t try on any PoB dresses, they were mostly heavily beaded and lace, and I''m not a fan of either. They looked exquisite, though. The other thing is that they were also very heavy, and I''m not sure I can pull off a heavy dress--my lower back was aching after just 40 minutes of wearing my DB dress when it came in, I can''t imagine how it would feel after six hours!

Thanks again for all of your input, ladies. You''ve convinced me to try on the Tallulah again, and I''m going to see if we can do anything to get the illusion of a fitted bust on the Carrie, because what if I STILL don''t like it after the bust fits right?

I really appreciate everyone''s help! Thank you!

I love the Tallulah on you- wowsers! Just looks like it was meant for you. I love it on you, and I also agree-- I like all 3 better than your David''s dress.

The Carrie is good on you, but it doesn''t look like it fits as well as the Tallulah. Can you go back and try both on again and get more photos? Maybe more photos can make your decision! Great dress hunting job!

Hi Haven!

There is something about the Carrie that I personally dont love, but that''s just me though...

I like the Tallulah on you, its very pretty!!!

But, go with the dress that you feel FAB in!!!!

Okay, here''s my question about the Carrie--is the bust supposed to fan out like this? The straps were also far too big on me, which is why they look so wide, they''re supposed to be pinched at the top, but that can''t happen if they don''t sit against my shoulders. Has anyone else tried this on?

At the chance of making myself look horrible in comparison to the dress model, here''s what the Carrie looks like on her:

And from the back:

Hmm, I haven''t tried it on, but it looks like it''s just a fitting issue. I''m confident that this fanning will go away when you have your own sized dress on, and if not, I''m confident that a tailor can fix it.

Okay Indy, I''m going to a small bridal salon this afternoon to compare! I''ll post pics later, I promise!

I''m in complete agreement with surfgirl; especially about the sash exchange. (You have great taste, surfgirl!)

But, if you love the Carrie, then get it. You must ultimately be comfortable with your choice; and if you''re envisioning the Carrie and getting excited, it''s probably THE ONE.

Oehhh those pics changed my view of the Carrie. If it will be ordered in ur size and the bust will look the same as it does on the model... it will be gorgeous!!

But personally my vote is for the Tallulah (with different sash), totally amazing, simple, but still bridesy (is that a word

). Do you have a model pic on that one too? I

it!!

Haven - Love you in the Tululah!! It''s stunning on you.

The Carrie is actually the same dress I was considering. I decided to go with the Oscar de la Renta instead (discussed in my thread a few weeks back) partly because of the bust part of the Carrie flaring out like that. The seamstress at the salon said the Carrie is supposed to have that "crumb catcher" effect where it sits away from the body. There is a separation between the fabric that lays on your chest and the outside ruffles. The seamstress said she could take it in and make it look closer to the body but that it would sort of ruin the effect of the dress. I didn''t want to take the chance that I wouldn''t like how it would turn out.

Also, one thing she did say with the Carrie that still made me still consider it was that the skirt of the Carrie could be ordered in an A-line, which I thought was great for my shape. As a lot of people love the look of the Tululah on you (A-line), it could be an option to consider.

I definitely would prefer the Carrie if it didn't fan out on you like that. It can probably be taken care of with alterations. If nothing else, they can always tack it down a little. I am considering having my ruffle tacked down in spots to ensure it lays right. Have you been to this POB website? http://www.priscillaofboston.com/salon/index.jsp

I like that site because it shows all the collections that POB carries. I am a big fan of some of the POB dresses in addition to the MS ones. I think the Platinum ones are too beaded and heavy though. Vineyard seems to be their new less expensive line. There are some of the actual POB dresses that I think you would look stunning in.

I can't wait to hear how this next trip goes! Good luck!

Haven - also, if you end up going with the Carrie, look on Melissa Sweet's website for trunk shows and order it from a place that is having a show. This dress is one they will give 10%-20% off of (depending on the salon). I was going to order it from POB in Texas when they had there trunk show for $3800 no tax. That was much better than I was quoted at my local shop. Also, you can add buttons down the back if you wanted to for approx. $150.

the first time looking through the pics, i loved carrie the best on you, but the second time i loved the tallulah. ill-fitting bust aside, i think the bottom half of the tallulah is more flattering. but the carrie hem is so beautiful! tough call!

...i was so NOT helpful there.

sorry.

YOU CAN ADD BUTTONS DOWN THE BACK?!?!?! I LOVE the buttons down the back, and actually said "I wish the Carrie had the buttons down the back!" when I tried it on. Oh dear, this makes it even MORE appealing.

NOW I remember where I''ve seen the Carrie--I commented on your thread when you were trying to decide. Aaaah, it all makes sense now.

My local PoB is having a trunk show Jan 10 - 14, so I wonder what the discount will be. The saleslady told me she could give me 10% off of the Carrie right now, and I could get another 5% off if I open up a PoB charge card. I''ll ask what the discount will be at the trunk show. The Carrie is priced at $4200 at my local salon, YIKES! I must be crazy. The Dora is priced at $3800.

There''s so much love for the Tallulah, I''m shocked! I thought it was so simple and didn''t have any memorable elements, but now I''m going to try it on again when I go back on Sunday. It must be that it''s named after my little Border Collie, that must be the appeal. (My dog, however, is neither feminine nor delicate.)

Thanks gals, I''m excited to go try on some more dresses this afternoon. They sell Vera Wang and the like at the salon I''m off to today, so it should be a lovely experience.

I''m going to go against the grain and say Elle and Tallulah. All the dresses are indeed lovely but I was underwhelemed by them except these two on you. It''s strange because I don''t usually like the shape of Elle but i think it looks absolutely FAB on you. and Tallulah as well. That strapless look just seems to REALLY fit you.

Not a fan of the Carrie. I just think the ruffles and thick straps are too much. You have great shoulders and think you should show them off (hence the other two).

i hate to say it, but i really dislike the carrie on you. way TOO much going on up top. and the waist comes up too high on you.
i think you have a wonderful figure and you can find something that will make you look sizzlin''!
30.gif

and for me, this just isn''t it

You look beautiful in all of these dresses but I have to vote for the no name (Liliana). The back is so unique and interesting and I think if the dress were fitted to you correctly, you would not look hippy at all.

My second fav would be the Ellie.

The Carrie is interesting but I fear that the bust will look like it wasn''t fitted correctly even if it is since it''s so funky.

good luck!

Hi Haven! I agree all look good on you but I LOVE the Lia on you. Sorry, I know I''m boring and going against the majority! :)
Good Luck and kep us posted!

I agree, they are all great, but I love Lia :)

Oh hon, the Tallulah is gorgeous on you! Try it with the big, sweepy sash and brooch, tied on the side of the hip, and a plain, long cathedral/floor length veil. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The reason there''s so much Tallulah love is because it''s amazing on your bod!

Though the Tallulah is the most simple out of the bunch, I think it was made for you (minus that sash). In the end, go with what you feel best in.
