WF ACA 2.1 G VS2 on hold... input pretty please

Well I am a bit late to the party but I went through this too. I actually flew out to WF from CA to compare diamonds. My wife ended up with a 2.08 GVS2 With about the same specs. Compared side to side with about 4 other diamonds F, G, H color. I get the whole mind clean thing being major OCD, but trust me, unless you are putting it under a microscope or you never mount it have 20/20 vision then look for 20 mins you are are wasting time. I used to get so caught up with the specs but after 4 hours at WF looking side by side you quickly realize you are spinning your wheels over numbers on paper once you are comparing WF ACA diamonds. At 2 ct+ I like G+ color and VS1-VS2. My wife has (4) WF ACA diamonds, the last a pendant is an F-SI1, gasp lol, sI1, under a loupe unmounted in excellent lighting I had a heck of a time finding the inclusions. Trust WF, they are the best, I would pass on Tiffany’s, there diamonds can’t compete with they dealers here.

good luck

Thanks @Titan7 for the input as well. And I can relate to the major OCD thing particularly when viewing some certificates that are practically clear and others have tons of X's and O's. I mentioned to my SA this evening that I really wished I lived nearby their location to see everything first-hand. Yes, I've definitely decided to Trust WF vs. any of the traditional B&M's, having learned the value and quality proposition they deliver, based on posts from other PS'ers such as yourself.

Also an update to everyone who kindly chimed in since Thursday... I sent a note back to my SA this evening with the feedback and requests that y'all helpfully provided, and my gut saying to wait for something a bit larger that has good cut, clarity and color. Since my fiancé and I aren't in a rush to lock in a stone, I'm very hopeful we'll eventually find the 'right' one for us whether it's any of these options or another one that appears in inventory at a later date.

Thank you again everyone!! =)2

Alrighty, I received back two comparison pics as suggested by PS, which I've pasted below.

I believe the 2.34 H has been reserved/sold at this point. The 2.33 H has a dark inclusion on the table, which is something we wish to avoid. And fortunately they were able to borrow @TweetyBird23 's 2.463 H stone for the comparison photo opp... her stone certainly shows quite white! @Dmndsr4evr11 stone was unavailable for pics. LOL.

SA said the stones are solid G/H colors. I can see a slight difference between G and H in the pictures, but less so in the 'face up' shots which I guess is to be expected...

The 2.11 G is on hold for us until tomorrow morning. Given WF's current inventory and our wish to not have visible inclusions on the table, it seems like we either go with the 2.11 G or wait for more inventory to materialize in the coming weeks/months. Fortunately we do have the luxury of time still. We are also talking about visiting another jeweler to just gauge color sensitivity in person.

Regardless of the decision, I have to say that my WF SA has been really helpful through this (learning) process and only reconfirms what most PS'ers have stated about WF and their team.

Future DW and I will be discussing (no pressure) this evening. Any other comments/thoughts you might have are welcomed.

Wow. The 2.34 H looks almost as white as the 2.114 G (must be a high H) - given how enlarged the pic is, I don't think there would be a visual difference between those two once mounted. Too bad it got sold, otherwise I would suggest that one. The 2.563 looks like it shows some color but not as much as the 2.33. However, to me, the 2.563 looks a bit dull. If you are not considering the 2.563 one, I would wait to see what else might come up. I would not settle.

@Bruin Ring would you be interested in 2.6 H? Or you’re looking for a diamond under 2.5ct?

I will tell you honestly that the lighting in most jewelry stores prevents one from seeing color differences at all. They tend to use lighting that will make the diamonds sparkle, but unless they will take you and the diamonds outside in natural lighting, it will be very hard to tell the differences. In Tiffany for example, you'd be unlikely to tell the difference between F and I color.

I think you are wise to wait and see what they get in G-H VS in the 2.3-2.5 ct range.

just my experience, but I spent over a year looking and waiting for the perfect combo to come in, I missed many 98%ers. Flew out to WF and to my insanely OCD I was had pressed to tell the difference at this level of quality, I had them switch stone positions while I was not looking and I missed most of the time. WF has a Really good upgrade policy, I would get one that’s 98%, as that 100% perfect stone may never come, SO many variable, you can use the same setting as long as you don’t go up too much.

I agree with @diamondseeker2006! You sound unsure about the 2.114 G, so definitely don't rush into a stone you aren't 100% happy about. In all honesty, the G is a great stone, but not one that is difficult to find. Wait a while and you should be able to find a stone in the 2.3-2.5 range without visible or dark inclusions under the table.

@munchee - thanks for looking. I believe we are looking to stay under the 2.5 mark as she felt that was a bit too bit when she tried the size previously. That said, I think she and I need to relook at sizing, color, and settings (in person)... and mentioned to the SA that we may actually fly down to Houston to visit and meet in-person with our WF SA.

THANK YOU all for your input on our search. I truly appreciate each reply received.

As some of you gauged, this one didn’t quite sing to us and think we need to reconfirm Carat and Color goals, so we decided to pass on the 2.11 G and let it go to another interested party. Future DW reiterated the 2.5 did feel too big, so current guess is that we may aim for ~2.25 G/High H VS2 or better with no viable dark inclusions. And still need to figure out a setting too. Hopefully we can find another great 98%er in the coming month(s) and not pass on too many, per Titan’s note.

We did go ahead and book tickets to visit WF next month, which I hope will be both fun and informative. Will make sure to take some pics to share with the PS community!!

Oh my goodness, thank you for tagging me! Look at my baby in line with her sisters! The G is noticeably whiter from the profile.

When I found that 2.5 H VS1, I knew I could not let her go (well, until I did and scrambled to get her back immediately lol).

I hope you find the stone of your dreams, @Bruin Ring! And much love to UCLA!

I ended up with a 2.23 G, VS1 and I really like the size of the stone. It is a nice size stone, but it is still small enough for every day wear. I am very happy with my particular stone as it sparkles like crazy. Good luck to you. Can’t wait to see what you guys pick.

@Bruin Ring - sorry for the delayed response. Been a crazy few weeks. The H 2.34 looks pretty white of all the H stones. Too bad it’s sold. I can see the difference in color with the G being whiter too. As @diamondseeker2006 has suggested, if you’re not in a rush and unsure of that G then you’re better off waiting. Tell your SA to keep an eye out for you with your specific specs. I’m sorry my stone isn’t available for comparison. It’s probably already in production. Good luck with your continued search.

Oh yes, a visit to WF is the most fun! Be sure to let her look at bracelets and earrings and ring settings while you are there! You can make mental notes for future anniversary gifts! lol! Maybe they'll have new stones in by then. I am sure you are making known what you are looking for so they can also be watching for stones in that range. I look forward to seeing pictures from your visit!

(One more thing. Sometimes a stone is sold and the person returns because they decide they want a different size or color. So I'd be watching just in case that 2.34 H gets returned. That's a great size!)

Great idea re future gift ideas, @diamondseeker2006 ! Yes, SA is aware of what we are looking for and felt confident we will have other options to consider at some point. And I will keep an eye on that 2.34 per your suggestion. Thanks!

Thanks @Dmndsr4evr11 ! Yes, I believe yours is already in production. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!!
