I wore my freeform baroque white South Sea strand with diamond cirque clasp over the weekend. This came from the PP Connoisseur Sale last fall. I had a hard time photographing the strand -- the luster is very high IRL.
OMG, the blue baroque double strands and the baroque white south sea pearls with the circle clasp are killing me. Beautiful.
Reborn pearls happen after a cultured pearl is removed from the oyster, and the oyster is returned to the water without being seeded with mantle tissue or a shell bead for another cultured pearl. A natural (sort of) pearl grows in the abandoned pearl sac by itself, and is later harvested along with other cultured pearls from the same oyster. My pearls are the shape of the slit that was cut with a roundish bit in the middle where the original cultured pearl had grown.
Super bright in my house, so it makes the pictures look silly.
This was one of my first attempts at stringing. I don't wear it often. But I figured why not today!
They are Freshwater pearls, some are off round some are flat bottomed buttons. They were really inexpensive, but had some fun colors that reminded me of brassy pondslime. Mix of Lavender, light pink, white cream, mauve
A large button pearl with white and black druzy quartz than really sparkles like crazy, and two diamonds.
I used to wear the pendant on a yellow gold chain, but recently got white and yellow gold cables which give it a very space age look.
It's been two days of Tahitians for me. Wednesday, I wore my PP "Loot 2" multicolor strands from the 2014 Ruckus. I wear the heck out of these strands because they go well with so many outfits.
Today, I wore my deep blue Rikitea strand from PP. I have such a hard time photographing this strand. IRL, the pearls are very blue, with some green and purple overtones and high luster.
The cables are 18 karat gold. The store is a small custom jeweler in Orlando, Florida and the Caribbean. They're stones are gorgeous and the rings and pendants are very modern. They don't do pearls. I got the pendant from Thomas Lott Jewelers in Palm Bay, Florida.
Wore my 'new' earrings today. Pearls are from now-no-longer-operational indoseapearls. I had them for approximately 2 years and finally set them with perfect earrings from PP. Love the inverted tear drop shape of the earrings and the fact that the earring allows movement. They are my current favorite earrings
I'm so happy to finally see your Rikitea strand! I can't tell you how curious I was about whether you ever got it, and what you thought about it in the end. It looks fantastic on you.
Today it's my PP 10 mm blue baroque akoya necklace and my Grandmother's akoya pearl drop earrings.
The blues really match my chambray blouse well.
The earrings are cultured akoyas set in 14K white gold with teeny tiny little diamond accents.
My Grandmother bought them in the 1950s.
If you watched the last couple of episodes of MadMen, you may have noticed that Betty wore double pearl studs that looked like two earrings but were really one earring. My Grandmother tried to copy this look by wearing her pearl drops upside down. She was a bit crazy. I prefer the earrings right side up.
YC, those are 2 gorgeous pairs of earrings! What size are the GSS drops? The Dew Diamond setting hadn’t really caught my eye on the PP website, but they look fantastic on your ear.
Ckrickett, I love your ammonite earrings mixed with your glowing pearls.
BWeaves, your beautiful blue akoyas work so well with that blouse. How wonderful that you have your grandmother’s lovely akoya earrings to wear.
