What are your PMS foods?

When I had periods, one month I used to crave chocolate. When I didn''t have candy around, I used to eat Nestle Quiick with a spoon right out of the container. LOL LOL. The next month it would be salty things like potato chips.

salty - an entire bag of smartfood white cheddar popcorn, or the canister of reduced fat sour cream & oninon pringles.

sweet - twizzlers/red vines, anything chocolate which is usually inclusive of my trip to coldstone

Used to crave pizza, anything pasta with red sauce, or chocolate covered pretzels, although I was never a big chocolate fan. Last fall I went all vegetarian, and have since seen a HUGE decrease in my cravings for processed food. Now it''s more like adding real salt instead of Mrs. Dash (salt free) to my fresh steamed green beans snack or drowning my baby spinach in raspberry vinaigrette and adding salted sunflower seeds. No kidding. I seem to have lost the cravings for processed foods finally and my PMS days have become fewer. Fortunately I was never one who craved ice cream, sweets, or whatever, just got really b*tchy and couldn''t stand to be around anyone, but that''s even changed in the last couple months. At my worst I just crave a stiff drink, lol!

I never ate much meat growing up, so that wasn''t a hard change for my body, and I also was discouraged not to eat sweets, processed foods, or fast food. I think that has had a lot to do with what turns me on or off during the craving times. We''ll see what happens if/when I get pregnant, I guess, haven''t been down that road yet!

Chocolate and crisps ( potato chips) again sugar and salt.
 
My cravings are for chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cake w/ chocolate frosting, stuff along those lines!! Luckily I''m too lazy to make these things most of the time. Although I did just buy the ingredients for my favorite cookies today! Uh oh!
 
~~French Fries, Chocolate, Ice Cream, Cupcakes, and Cookies... all very healthy foods!!

I usually crave "white, mushy food" such as mashed potatos, pasta, rice etc. Chicken pot pies would be perfect...especially if accompanied by mashed potatos......Thankfully, I don''t crave chocolate.


I have found though that eating a decent amount of soy products through-out the month really lessons the PMS and the cramps. I''ve been eating LUNA bars for breakfast during the work week and my PMS and cramps have been hugely better. One month, I went back to eating oatmeal & fruit like before, and the PMS and cramps came back....so back to the Luna bars and the next month was better. I''m looking into making soy smoothies for summer. Hopefully they will work too.
 
Nothing like chocolate covered pretzels, salty & sweet!!
