What BUGS You & Doesn't Bother Anybody Else?

Thought of a few others. I cannot stand the sight of undergarments hanging out

I don't want to see bra straps, ever! Find the right bra to wear for the right garment.
I don't want to see boxers or thongs hanging out of lowriding jeans. Just looks tacky
I'm all about dressing for comfort, but I don't want to see PJ's outside of the house....even if you're 6 years old.

YES!!!!

Also, when people mouth/lip sync everything you say to them as you keep talking. They play it back physically. That is weird.

Maybe they have echolalia? That's what I tell myself because they annoy me too.

It drives me absolutely BONKERS when people say CHIPOTLE incorrectly. The L is AFTER the T people, c'mon! :x

Wait, how are they pronouncing it? I can't even wrap my mind around that...chip-ol-tay?

Exactly!! I hear it ALL. THE. TIME!

foam. like this texture http://www.shindigz.com/images/itm_img/2H103A.jpg or many kitchen sponges, egg crate foam, memory foam (if i have to touch it directly. i can sleep on it w/sheets over top b/c it doesn't really make the noise)...  freaks me out just looking at the picture.
My husband has the exact same squick. Especially those foam rubber mattresses he can't even touch.

As a kid, I used to have a fabric-wrinkles thing. Like I could spend endless amounts of time making sure my socks and their seams were exactly right inside my shoes, and if they weren't I'd fuss with them until I was satisfied. This could take quite a while! Also did the same thing with sleeves inside of coats- if I didn't hold onto my sleeves just right and the shirt sleeves bunched *at all*, I'd utterly refuse to go anywhere until I got the sleeves to lay right. Again, this could be a lengthy process. I'm really surprised I didn't drive my parents battier than I did! As an adult I don't even really think about it, but I do have a hard time finding shoes that don't hurt- which I was much worse about as a kid, there were many brand-new pairs of shoes I abandoned, much to my parents' irritation.

I get very easily irritated by people who are noisy eaters, especially soup slurping. Unfortunately DH falls in the soup-slurping category and I often don't make it just to avoid having to listen to him eat it! I've tried asking nicely, teasing him about the soup-vacuuming, and flat out saying PLEASE GOD DON'T MAKE THAT NOISE. No luck. He contends soup doesn't taste as good if you don't slurp it. Therefore he's banned from ordering soup at restaurants.

I hate slurpers too but what irritates me even more is when someone's eating utensil touches their teeth. I think that's incredibly bad manners.

Clutter drives me absolutely bonkers! If you are not using something, put it away or get rid of it. It just takes up space and gathers dust. DH doesn't see it that way and he still has all his college textbooks (DH is 55) and about 5 years worth of Sports Illustrated that he has reluctantly agreed to throw out - threatening does help!

Dirty diamonds.

THIS IS A DIAMOND FORUM!!

Uggh I cringe when people have SBTB photos and the diamonds have finger prints on them and there is so much dirt it looks like a lower end I-3 (lopsy cousin). It's so so so gross. I don't need to see that on a 24" screen.

My sister and I got tired of hearing people pronounce it incorrectly so we nick named it "Chi-pod-dal" like waddle :D

I absolutely cannot stand the sound of people eating. Road trips growing up I had to blast the stereo while people snacked. It gives me the heebie jeebies :errrr:

wow! i have never met anyone else who has this problem. or anyone else who would even sympathize with me. most laugh & then exploit my irrational fear of foam.

soocool, my DH is the same way. i tease him that he's going to turn into a hoarder. i'm the exact opposite & probably throw things away that i should maybe keep but this has never really come back to bite me so i think i'm okay. i beg DH to give away his college texts that he will never use again (the ones that were from a previous major!). we had 2 copies of the SAME physics textbook in our house. the thing is huge. and it was pulling teeth to get him to put ONE copy in the goodwill pile. he has a degree in communications!! he's in public affairs!! when's he going to need to pull out that physic book, let alone both of them?? drives me batty!

cehra, do you think it's really true that people w/light eyes are more sensitive? i have light colored eyes & have always had a sensitivity problem. i can't see really when i'm somewhere that only has fluorescent lighting & outside i *must* have my sunglasses even when it's not super bright. i've always thought that it was b/c i had light eyes but everyone looks at me strange when i say that.

You know velour blankets that are often in hotels? I don't like to touch them -- I just hate the way velour feels. I'm the same way about newspapers too. I know it's probably strange but I don't like the particular feel of newsprint and I also hate how the print rubs off. Ick.

I know there are other things that bug me but I can't think of them right now.

Water spots on my bathroom mirror. I start hyperventilating and break out the Windex. No dirty mirrors in my house!

The way the staff at my offices pages people on our PA system. They always say, "Bob, if you're in the building, dial extension 5555. Bob, if you're in the building, dial 5555." If Bob is not in the building, he will not answer your page 'cause he can't hear you! I want to page one of them and say, "Sally, if you're in the building, dial 5555. Sally, if you're not in the building, forget about calling since it's impossible for you to know that we're paging you right now."

LGK, I'm the same way about the seams in my socks and sleeves when I put my coat on. My socks are always stretched out and look like they fit JD b/c I pull on them constantly so the seam is exactly proper and there is no extra sock to bunch in the top of the shoe. I notice I developed some sort of quick jerk of my arm as I go to put my arm in each sleeve that when I pull my arm back the sleeve comes down and I grab it by folding my fingers over it. I never even thought about it until just now. My daughter I notice is becoming particular about her socks and my son freaks out when his sleeves go up.

Okay, I just suffer from crankiness.

Some of you have issues.

I cannot stand speaker phones. Everyone ends up screaming to be heard. Pick.up.the.phone.already.

I can't go to the movies because I cannot stand to listen to people eat popcorn.

Then there is my problem with acute sensory issues. My sense of smell is so acute it is not human and it is not a gift. Enough said.

My socks always have to match my outfit. Even if I plan on wearing boots, and no one will see my socks.
So, if I'm wearing a gray sweater with jeans, I either have to have gray socks or blue socks (in a shade that matches my jeans) I will not wear any other color such as the standard black or white.

Well, I can safely say that you are not alone in this: in West Palm Beach they print a little society newspaper on coated paper stock so the ink doesn't rub off on the ladies' fingers. It's called the "slick sheets". Don't know if it's still in existence, though.

Maybe you need to move to WPB? :naughty:

I also have a thing with the covers on the bed. I don't make the bed in the morning but rather at night before getting in it because I cannot stand it when the covers are all over the place when you're trying to sleep. DH thinks I'm totally crazy and neurotic about it and I do not care ;) I cannot go to sleep if the covers are not up to my standards

oh my gosh---me too!! roommates my entire life have thought this is weird. i'm not a morning person, so it's the rare occasion when i make my bed first thing in the morning but i ALWAYS have to make it before i go to bed. i can't stand messed up sheets. of course, when i sleep in a bed alone, really all i have to do is just pull that corner back up. i don't move around a lot. DH on the other hand...

YAY :appl: :appl: glad someone else shares my weird quirk.
Thirded. I get so mad when FI goes to bed before me and doesn't fix the covers first. I hate to wake him up to get the bedding done properly, so I try to adjust, but he kicks the topsheet all the way down the foot of the bed! It's awful!

My quirk is that I think it's rude and disgusting to reach over another person's food once it's on their plate or tray. Occasionally someone over here will try to reach over my tray in the DFAC and I'll block or deflect their hand, or if I can see their intent beforehand, shift my body so they can't. I'm polite, but firm on this, but I won't do it to someone else either.

I despise answering machines and voicemail. I don't leave msgs and have DH check our home phone. If it's on my cell, I just delete it.

All this talk of eating has made me think of another thing: specks! Specks of food that stick to the corners of people's mouths, make me BATTY! If you are eating with me, I will hand you a napkin the second that I see it. If you are confused, I will open my eyes really wide and stare at you, like this

It must be gone right away, or I will become nauseated. . .

Me too! I'm scared of all birds - big birds, little birds, the aviary at the zoo. Cannot stand them. It always seems like they're attacking people too; especially the big ones like ostriches and emus *SHIVERS* :errrr:

So funny... I'm not afraid of birds, in fact I have a pet parrot. But, one of my earliest memories is going to the zoo with my family, and an emu was freaking out at the edge of its enclosure, and I was convinced it was trying to eat me! We even have a picture of its head sticking out over the top of the fence.

People who talk on their cell phones while on the eliptical machine at the gym. I wear headphones and sometimes I can't hear
the music. I don't want to hear their conversations! So rude!

There's one near my work it comes up quite often. The most annoying one is Chipootle... where the "oo" sounds like poodle.
