So I love spending time with BF but I find lately that if we are not doing anything in particular or are just lying around watching tv, I feel the need to talk and the future etc.. is what it always on my mind. So, this energy needs to be chanelled somewhere far more productive, like keeping our relationship fun instaed of me making it serious all the time.

So I ask you ladies, aside from tv and movies, what do you do with you BF for fun?!?!
(p.s. I vaguely remember a thread about this popping up a while ago but I don''t think it went far and we have lotsa new ppl here now so I thought I would try!)

We''re LDR right now so our time together typically seems to go by really fast -- especially when you factor in all of the regular couple stuff, such as running errands, spending time with family and friends, etc.

But a few ideas, most of which we''ve done:

- Picnics. I can''t wait to go on one this summer, it should be really fun. I''m going to pack a bottle of wine, some good baguette and cheese, fruit, etc. You could also do this in the winter in front of the fireplace on a blanket.

- Board games. We are HUGELY into Scrabble. Mad libs are fun, too. Kinda nerdy but it works for us.

- Go to the gym together. I did this a lot with my ex. We worked out separately (I can''t stand trying to work out with someone, even my best friend) but it was still nice to get out of the house together.

- Theme nights for dinner. ie, tacos and blender margaritas. Or make a big Thai dinner (that can be a lot of work, definitely easier with 2 cooks)

- Bake together... if he''s willing. LOL. Cookies are a good activity for 2 people. Cakes or the like would be harder.

- Get coffee and walk around a scenic park, or window shop in a neat part of town

- Weekend trips away to nearby towns. We''re close to the mountains and hot springs here so that''s a good one.

This may sound cheesy but I love doing everything with my bf. He is my best friend and we live together and do everything together, and it''s always so much fun cause he makes me laugh every day of my life.

You guys should try doing stuff out of the ordinary - like stuff you wouldn''t normally want to do like go to a museum, a play, the theatre, the opera stuff like that. It''s always nice for a change.

We play video games (Wii, WoW, etc.) together! We also try to go on walks or trips and things like that. Cooking is also fun together! And a second for board games!

Once in a while, when we''re feeling "daring" enough, my FI and I will dress to impress and hit up a high-end car dealership just for the test drive... we''ll say we''ve got 20K for a down payment. Then, after the test drive, we bolt... I know it''s a shame to waste a salesman''s time, but it''s fun! We''ve only done this about 3 or 4 times (in 8 years).
FI still wants to crash a wedding, but I refuse to do that! "Yes, honey, even if it is just the cocktail hour!" LOL
In the summertime, we like to go to the river and barbeque and set off fireworks. And carnivals...funnel cakes, fried oreo cookies, money wheels, and winning bottles of liquor by throwing darts! Fun stuff!
We''re planning a road trip to Cedar Points Ohio this summer (amusement park). Never been there, and am so looking forward to it!

Ha ha Lynnie! My local BMW dealership knows me by name. Oh the shame! I drop the lawyer thing on them and they just fawn. Little do they know I am a lawyer who earns literally nothing right now

BF loves to work on the garden and I love to, eh, admire him while he works, does that count?

We are in a sort of LDR but we make the most of our time together.
We spend lots of time with our dog - we take her to the beach, the park, wherever....

we also go out dancing, go out for boozy dinners, go driving (Anywhere), go to art galleries... spring cleaning together is fun, cooking, walking, skiing/snowboarding, traveling.... EVERYTHING!

...oh, and jewelery window shopping is quite the regular pastime these days!!

Lynnie: Cedar Point is a BLAST. I live in Ann Arbor, MI, so it''s just a 2 hour(ish) drive. Better than any other amusement park I''ve been too.

Hmm.. what do the bf and I do? We went rock climbing at an indoor climbing place this weekend. That was awesome. We play pool, go bowling, sometimes visit local humane societies and check out all the cute animals. :) Sometimes we''ll go shopping and let the other person pick out their whole outfit, and then go to dinner afterwards. Go to the zoo, play tennis, play World of Warcraft.

Hope this helps!

A lot of what we do involves eating. We love to try new restaurants (we keep a list of place we''d like to go to) and wine bars. And we love to cook - and take cooking classes - together.

Fortunately, we also both love to take really long walks and/or hike. We''ll spend a day walking the entire length of Manhattan (with detours) or head upstate to find hiking trails.

Um, we''re also big dorks, so we do Sudoku or jigsaw puzzles or play board games, usually when we''ve spent the last several nights staring at the TV. I love working on puzzles, with music in the background & a bottle of wine.

Sometimes when it''s nice out we''ll take a tennis or golf lesson together, or if not we''ll do something silly like paint-your-own pottery.

And we try to make time for museums, plays, concerts, and the like. We''re lucky to live in a city where there''s a lot of that sort of thing, especially free stuff in the summer.

We have more hobbies that we enjoy independently, so it''s important to us to make the time to do these things together - and we have great conversations at the same time.

All this, of course, was pre-law school. But we still talk about doing those things!

Thanks! Those are all really great ideas. I am lucky to live in a big city so there are lots of museums and parks here they are just expensive and a bit of a trek to get to. But you have given some great ideas and I will just have to start planning things out!!!
Thanks a lot!! :):):)

We cook together almost every day. We try new resturants. Go to concerts and shows together. We play in the back yard and do yard work. One of our favorite things to do together is host parties. Once a year we host a HUGE party where we invite almost everyone we know. Whenever there is an excuse to celebrate or have a party...we grab it! We also play a lot of Wii together and will often times call up our other friends who have Wii''s and get a group together to play. We spend a lot of time in our yard together during the summer especially having fires at night and inviting our friends to come make s''mores or roast hot dogs over the open flame.

We go hiking at local parks
Fishing
go for rides on the airboat
Go out on the four wheelers
go to the woods to see if we see any deer
we cook together
we jog together
we go to the mall an walk around, just for the sake of walking and seeing all the things in the stores
we go to his mom''s and play with the dogs and the pig
we watch movies
we play pool
we go out to eat at local smaller restaurants (IE Moes, Backyard Burgers)
we sit on the porch in rocking chairs and listen to the wind chimes
we play with our dog
we drive and look at property
we go visit my mom or my dad

When we aren''t working or running crazy, we:

- I teach him to cook and bake. (He can cook, but he wants to learn more)
- We take the puppy to the beach or on hikes. (The dog has been great for us. He gets us out of the house!)
- We watch movies.
- We drive around and look at cool houses that are millions out of our price range.

Another vote for board games! We love to play games and have a ton of them!
We also like to take the dogs to the park, walks, and cooking together. Lots of fun!

I love doing everything with my bf. He is my best friend, do everything together, and it's always so much fun cause he makes me laugh every day of my life.
This is funny because I always tell my boyfriend and I quote "I love being with you" and now he thinks its funny because I tell him this. So now he mocks me all the time with the same quote. It's true though! I love being with him and doing anything with him. That is when I am happiest.

We play video games (Wii, WoW, etc.) together!
We used to play PlayStation all the time. We don't anymore, and that is something I think we could do again! We always had fun playing Game Day (nfl football game) those were good times.......

We are doing something real fun currently! (but it's tv related) We have been watching the Rick Steve's Europe Through the Backdoor DVD's, and just got the Samantha Brown Passport to Europe DVD's to watch. Neither of us have been to Europe and we are loving this! Europe looks like so much fun! Now we talk about how cool it would be to go to certain countries, etc.. one day. He got this idea to watch these DVD's because I was recording Samantha Brown's Girl Meets Hawaii from the Travel Channel. (We watched an episode of this once last year and loved it. I looked on travelchannel.com's website for the schedule and recorded them. Haven't watched these yet) Needless to say, we "go to Europe" while eating dinner.

Also, we would like to get a couple acoustic guitars and learn how to play together this summer. (Not sure if we will, but it would be fun!)

On weekends we are always together. We go out and do whatever, shopping, eating out, the usual (just being together.) I plan on going to our local botanic gardens this summer! We've never done that together. I would like to do other things this summer besides the usual. But with gas prices, we need to stay "close" to home.

I know what you mean about not doing much lately though. Good idea for this thread! I love all the suggestions! I love the idea of theme nights for dinner!

You know, we have a lot of TV shows that we watch together, and we have a lot of computer related hobbies we do at the same time, just not together.

But, other than that, we take a walk around our neighbourhood every night, we cook together nearly every weekend, we go rock climbing, we do our random errands, like going to the grocery store, washing the cars, etc. together. I also love going to walk around the mall. It''s actually a load of exercise, and when it starts to get hot, like it is now, it''s so much better to do laps in air-conditioned comfort.

But, we also travel a lot. We just got back from Italy and we''re planning a vacation to France next year if other plans fall through. It''s actually pretty time consuming, especially when you are fresh on the mistakes you made the last time, and trying desperately not to repeat them in the future.

My BF and I both have road bikes so we try to ride on the weekends. If we don''t feel up to it we go for a long walk or hike. He lives in a city so it''s fun to walk to as much stuff as we can. Keeps it interesting and keeps ya healthy!

We love to eat out but we do that a lot so we''ve been focusing on cooking more at home. Not just cooking whatever but making restaurant quality food out of good cook books (Bobby Flay is our fave) and its a fun way to be productive and spend time together.

And we always keep an open mind about whatever fun events, theater, music, traveling to add into the mix.
