What do you think about the lady paying for half?

Well if he''s a modern man like you said, he should be okay with it. If he insist on you not chipping in, maybe find a place that allows upgrades and pay for the upgrade yourself later? Plus, once you are married, unless you plan on keeping all expenses separate, does it matter who pays for it?

What about doing some sort of stackables? He could propose with two diamond eternity bands and you could do a plain band in between for your wedding band. Or something of that sort. That would look cool. I don''t think there''s anything wrong with you offering to pay half, but I do think that this is a point of pride for many men, "modern" or not. So, since you''ve already broached the subject, I don''t think it''s a good idea to keep bringing it up. FWIW, I was in your same position. My husband is a resident, so he hardly makes any money! At the time, I made 3x what he did. But, I could tell that he wasn''t really into me paying for the ring at all, so I did what I could to steer him to a good purchase with the funds he had. Good luck, whatever you decide.

Iif you don''t really want an engagement ring anyway, then I vote for a diamond eternity band also. Maybe he doesn''t believe that you don''t really want a ring. Tell him that you would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a diamond eternity band as an engagement ring just like Marilyn Monroe. Then you can use it for the wedding band too, if you want.

His comment about the honeymoon suggests that he is wiling to pay for the ring and have you pay for the honeymoon and or other wedding expenses.
