So I've been thinking about getting a Tsav for a while now.

What do you think about this one? It costs approx 1k. you could see a few inclusions.

Apparently the video is more accurate in terms of colour. Is it just me, or does it look "washed out"? The colour doesn't seem to be very saturated compared to other pictures/videos of Tsav I've seen -- or maybe there is just a lot of "dark" areas? Other tsavs look so glowy and bright, for example, this video from DBL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8ICtlshCAM&feature=player_detailpage#t=4s......

Am I expecting too much? I've only see a couple Tsav in real life at a gem show and it was years ago.

thanks!

Please provide the stats for the stone - without them, its hard to provide any opinion on value, etc.

In terms of pricing, it would be best to know the carat weight and dimensions. In terms of colour, it isn't saturated but if the price reflects that, then it could be worth it. It all depends.

Hi,

thanks, it's about 1.5ct, 7.5mm by 6.5mm

cheers!

I think that price is high given the lack of saturation (if the photos are accurate). Have you looked at Tan's stores on ebay? He seems to have good tsavs from time to time.

I think the cut and shape are very pretty. I've seen others that are "richer" in color, but more often in ovals and rounds. I'm a newbie and have seen tsav prices all over the place and I don't understand the nuances of the price differences. That said, $666/ct isn't out of line with others I've been quoted for tsavs over a carat.

thanks for all the comments! Glad to know that I'm on the right track in thinking the saturation was not quite there...

I agree with Kgizo... the prices does seem all over the map, and it seems harder to find more square/rectangular shaped ones.

Thanks for the link to Roger Dery Minousbijoux! hes does have some really nice tsavs.

I guess I'll continue learning more before finally buying.

Hi Bluegirl :wavey:

I just posted a tsav over in the SGBTS thread and realized I was thinking of you when I posted it. If you're still looking, you might want to inquire about this one: ‎1.34ct Tsavorite Garnet cushion, VVS, 6x5.5x4.6mm, Kenya. Being offered by Jason Brim, Select Gem, for $495. You'd have to follow up with him to ask questions about quality of cutting and saturation levels. Here are the pictures he had up:

Great find, MB! Have you ever considered a career as a personal jewelry consultant?
