I haven''t noticed too many people wearing earrings like this, but was wondering if this would be a nice casual style earring for everyday.

They aren't my style...but I know quite a few people who prefer the leverback earring for comfort reasons, and I think they say that they are less likely to snag on shirts or sweaters going over the head then a post-back earring.

I think they would be a great earring for everyday if you like that style.

I love lever-back earrings because they are comfortable (I can sleep in mine) and it is the only style of earring I have never lost or damaged.

I recently cleaned out my jewelry box and I had a dozen gold hoops, posts, etc. with no mates. (I made a couple bucks selling them as scrap gold)

Plus, I think the lever-backs are pretty, IMO.
The stones move just a little bit & sparkle.

My other question was....do you think that it's possible to make the diamonds "dangle" in a leverback like this picture? I was thinking maybe basket set or bezel set.

Sure it's possible! It would be pretty too - but I'm not sure I'd want to wear something so dangly everyday as a casual style - a little too fancy for me anyway. I like the leverbacks you posted though.

Those are pretty - I was thinking of doing something like one of these - in diamonds...of course...

Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Now all I have to do is look for a dealer who will help me with my request. I am thinking of emailing GOG, they did a great job on my three stone ring.

Lucky, where did you find those designs? They are gorgeous.

Oh, and THANKS A LOT for opening a serious can of worms!!!!

Now I WANT diamond earrings like this! Dammit! I WANT THEM NOW! hehehhehehhe

Great, great idea! One I'm likely to lift myself.

Seriously, I like the idea of them dangling. I've considered the first leverbacks above, but I notice when others wear that style that the diamonds always seem to face toward the floor because of how they sit in the ear......something that bugs me.

The dangles, on the other hand, make the diamond much more prone to sparkle and catch light.....LOVE that idea.

Honestly, I have a pair of dangle earrings that I just bought two weeks ago. They are trillion peridots surrounded by small accent diamonds. I initially thought they were too dressy for everyday wear, but I'm finding they really aren't.

I think the dangling ones with modest diamonds would be perfect for everyday wear.

Do you have any pictures of your earrings, BTW?

It's hard to be on a forum like this and not buy ANY jewelry!

Lucky...yes it's hard not to drool over everyone elses items either.

Take for example this beautiful piece I found last nite..only $488...really yummy. Not exactly my taste normally, I don't know where I'd ever wear it but it's stunning. Hmmm maybe the 'diamond fund' should be modified to simply 'jewelry fund'.

OK, so before this post, I didn't like the idea of leverback diamond earrings.

Geeze this is a dangerous place to hang out! Now I need to get not only the martini set studs, but I also need a pair of leverbacks like the ones Icelovr posted! Where did you find them Icelovr?

AL - would you post pics of your new earrings? Don't hold out on us now, you know how we like eye candy!

Hi I love lever backs...I hope to do some wiht Regents and small sapphires on to...like my e-ring

These--by Leon Mege--are my absolute favorite diamond earings of all time...they sit just below the ear lobe....I am seriously thinking of changing my stud wish to this style of setting. They have the simplicity and everyday elegance of a stud with that little something special extra.

These are also my favorite of all time

I love lever backs and think they look flattering especially for those whose piercings aren't right on center. Plus as you move your head around the diamonds catch light from all directions and what could be more gorgeous than this?

oh, this is very pretty! I'm sure I'd have LOTS of places to wear an exotic necklace like this. . .possibly when taking my kids to swimming class

lol

I need a more luxurious lifestyle to support my jewelry fettish. Diamonds and mud pies at the park don't mix too well!

Icelady - I found them at Mondera. I have diamonds (2 - .25ct) that I am thinking of setting. I have the martini settings for the studs and I thought this would be a nice way to use the other set of diamonds. Ya know - studs for jeans, white cotton shirt, boots and the top down on a spring day... and let's not leave out the leverbacks ...semi-casual dinner - short skirt..snug sweater - need I say more. Which one of us here couldn't justify having more diamonds...and clothers...

mmm clothes. something i haven't bought much of since the wedding planning and house purchase...

..funny how i find $$ to put into the 'diamond/jewelry fund' though...

Michelle,

I was lusting after that same necklace, and I found an ebay seller selling them for much less--I forget the name, but search ebay's jewelry section for "peridot festoon necklace" or "moonstone festoon necklace"--they make them in different stones. Amethyst, too, and onyx; possibly some others as well. I don't know how good that seller is, of course, since I never bought anything from them, but I seem to recall that they had good feedback. And Faye Cullen is pretty pricy in general.

You have to contact L. Mege by phone 1.800.542.1954

His web site is www.artofplatinum.com, but when I e-mailed him a while back, it took ages for a response and he just said to call, so I'd recommend doing this instead to save some time

Please post any info you gather about these earrings as I'm sure a bunch of us are dying to know the details!

aljdewey: I forgot where I found that picture...I tried to look for it again and now I can't find it...sorry. Serves me right for getting so excited at that picture and not writing down the URL.

MichelleCarmen: Now I want that Leon Mege platinum setting! Sigh....I am really going to go broke shopping for jewelry. I don't even buy clothes anymore!

Oh one more thing....does anyone know of a vendor who does leverbacks?

Would you tell me where I can get this pair? I would like to purchase a similar one except smaller about 20 to 30 pts each earring. I would love to have it set with 8* dimonds but they don't do smaller size or it would cost as much as a bigger one. Any suggestion?

Well
rolleyes.gif
which? There are quite a few models on the thread by now

Some nice H&A diamodns would likely get darn close to Eight Star's. The "A Cut Above" series by Whiteflash was at some point shaped to go for the same cut receipe. Whatever difference remains, might not be all that big...

Sorry Valeria101, I meant the one posted by Luckyhonu. I checked the Modera website, they don't have that one

Thanks for your reply

4Cs: I don't remember what site I got that picture from, sorry! I think I typed in "leverback" in the search engine and found it on one of the sites. I think you can take that picture to a jeweler and have them make one for you.
