I had a diamond solitaire necklace that was .40 - turns out it was an OEC. I was no longer wearing it because I had an 1 ct. OEC that I had put in a halo bezel pendant, so next on my list was earrings... I had a ruby ring w/ lots of nice but small diamonds, so I decided to make the earrings "more than studs." There are earrings made by HOF called the "triplicity" setting that I admired so these are inspired by those.
I am currently debating whether I should have them with posts or should I do the lever back thing? I really like lever backs and find them very comfortable, also having them made as lever backs would insure that they wouldn''t end up sideways, etc, but I am not sure which part of the earring should be the top or the bottom.
Here is the first rendering by from our jeweler. From him- Please note that the prongs and findings are bulkier than the finished product will be. (The earring from the from the front will be a seamless wall of diamonds with as little of the prong showing as possible.) Right now I find the prongs bulky in this picture and I was hoping that he would be able to do more of a "shared" prong setting- but maybe it''s not possible from the positioning of the stones.
Any opinions on 1) whether to do posts or leverbacks? 2) which end (the single stone or triple stone end) should be the top/bottom?
