What do you think of this Pad?

Here’s my spinel, it does have a peachy tone to it, but I wouldn’t call it brown. Most people when asked, say “pink.” It sparkles like crazy even though it’s windowed. A4F2C632-E4D9-4B09-8A5C-0260725C091F.jpeg

This is so beautiful!!!

I think that sapphire you posted has lovely proportions. Padparadschas are often dead shallow so that they'll face up bigger, leaving a hideous window that you can drive a truck through. This one has a nice cut.

Preferred padparadscha colour is very subjective and I find this tone lacks pink for me but in saying that I think my preferred padparadschas are probably too pink and too bright for some. So it's a matter of whether you love it.

Do get videos of the stone facing north south though if you are planning to set it north south. Just to see what it will look like.

My bestie bought this from the same vendor as you and she loves it (haha I love it too). Their videos were very accurate.

This is stunning!

Here are some photos of my pad spinel (ring) and pad garnet (loose). They look identical in person and both are usually peachy-pink but can look champagne-beige in certain lighting.

I do love pastel colored gems because of their sparkle.

These are so pretty. I love the softer colours too!

Great cut. Borderline peach sapphire in saturation. This would look terrible on my skin tone - it would just blend in. On olive or darker skin it would look great. If you buy it it would look great if you halo it in diamonds to bring out a contrast.

Thank you for the feedback! I am worried it will blend in with my skin tone. Perhaps I should wait for a brighter one. They just seem so hard to get!

My bestie and I were gossiping and we like this one:

This one caught my eye too! Is it more of a pink sapphire rather than a pad though?

I think first work out what tone you like.

Then pick the stone

Then if you want the padparadscha label from one of the big labs, have them send it there to see if it qualifies for the padparadscha label

They give a padparadscha label to all shades these days so I think it's easier to start with a shade you like and then get the lab report.

It never ceases to amaze me how brilliant pads are... perhaps because we're used to seeing such saturated sapphires. In any event, and as usual, I agree with the previous comments. Here are my additional two cents. As another poster mentioned, the stone is deep, so you do lose a little face-up size. Just something to consider. Pads are notorious for horrid native cutting, so this one is decent. There are a few "lost" facets there on the keel, but nothing that should be glaring in person. I LOVE the color. It is the perfect marriage of pink and orange, IMO. As a few others have pointed out, it is a lighter tone pad though, so that has to be something you like. I prefer them to the overly saturated stones (that I don't consider pads anyway), but I aim for something in a medium-light or medium tone. It prevents the stone from looking like "skin" or browning out in daylight, as was previously mentioned. Another plus for this stone is that it's unheated (which is a must for me). The clarity looks good and it's already certified (many NSC stones are not). I feel like this is definitely a stone to consider. Good luck!

If you want a pad, get a pad and not a pad coloured spinel or garnet. Likely that they won’t scratch the itch as they are not pads so you are probably better off buying one in the first place instead of multiple stones (and then spending money setting them). Speaking from experience…

The size is fine. For sapphires/ruby:
- 1 ct is approx 7x5mm
- 2 ct approx 8x6mm
- 3 ct approx 9x7mm

Depending on how deep/shallow they are cut the stones may face up bigger or smaller but a common problem when they face up bigger is a huge ugly window and personally between losing a bit of face up vs ugly window I choose losing the face up.

Still think the first stone is a nice looking classic pad.
