What do you think of this propsal idea?

I got this idea from really old movie theaters where coke was flashed on the screen so fast that you cant see it but your subconscience mind would want more coke.

Me and my soon-to-be fiance (she knows its comming) are Grey''s Anatomy lovers. I am also a big techie with computers. So my idea is getting a digital copy of an episode with a happy ending and editing the episode to flash a ring on the screen every couple of minutes. This should give her the burning desire to get married. And finally at the end, have it pop the question in big bold letters!

It would be very unique and really add to the anticipation. Hopefully the flashes will really work

What do you guys think?

So the proper term is "subliminal messages". Found it on wikipedia. And it states that the results may vary. i.e: Flashing a big steak might not make a person want steak but can make a person want food. Gotta do more research but its a gamble on weather or not it will actually work

I think it''d be neat if you could do the voice-over, and then edit the video accordingly (slow motion, back and forth) so it''d appear that the characters themselves were asking the big question.

Update:...

So i proceeded to making end to the video. It''s an episode where two separate guys pop the question. But the change is that i do a voice-over replacing theirs for the part where they ask "will you marry me?" (Thanks for the idea edl). But it sounds so weird because my voice is so different from the characters on-screen. Maybe I should have subtitles instead? Is it still cute and a good idea?

Another idea is if I were to add a video part of myself popping the question. So its like an episode where a 3rd person is getting engaged. But there are all sorts of technical issues in doing that. (Ex: Too big of a change in the musical flow, the backdrop theme would be too different)

What do you guys think?


P.s. Haheha...no no I do not need to coerce her into wanting to get married. She''s actually dieing for me to ask her.

the subliminal message thing is hilarious, and it is something that you will talk about forever. maybe you can throw in a couple of wedding dress pics and pics of youself on one knee.

as for the voice over, are you worried that it is too soon in the episode for your proposal? if so, maybe don''t do the voice over and just do the subliminal messages and your video at the end. i don''t think it matters that the scene will be different from the show, just make sure you get some scrubs!

I think it''s a very cute and clever proposal. It''s something she enjoys and you''re obviously putting a lot of thought and creativity into it. I''d just suggest that after the "subliminal messaging", when you actually pull out the ring, you say some words from the heart, (how much she means to you, how much you look forward to spending the rest of your life with her, what about her makes you smile, etc.) Creativity with sincerity makes for a knockout proposal.

Keep us posted and best wishes! Have a particular date in mind for this surprise proposal? I''m sure it''ll be wonderful!

AND SHE SAYS YES!!

So we proceeded to watch our episodes. And throughout the episode i had "Marry Me" pop up every minute for 1/270th of a second. It was visible if you look very very hard but you''d never notice it otherwise. My stomache had butterflies the entire time! At the end of episode, a scene from Grey''s Anatomy begins showing where two characters are simultaneously proposing with their big speeches. Throughout the scene, mg gf was sooo confused. She thought it was in spanish and the disc was really messed up because of my voice-overs. It wasn''t until she heard her name on-screen did it all make sense. Immediately after i had picture of the ring and the big question on-screen, she started jumping for joy! She said YES! and grabbed the ring and put it on herself. Then immediately called all her family and friends. She then made me blush as she showed the scene to everyone in the family.

We watched the show through midnight on christmas eve so technically she said yes on christmas day! She was up all night texting and talking to her friends. Eventually she has to turn her phone off because she couldnt sleep and snuggle with me.
